Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
MFM008 replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had mine done in 2016. I regret it as well. I think i was to old(58) at the time. Not alot of Weight loss but plenty of side effects. Mainly dumping syndrome. I cant eat rice, pasta, Most meat or FISH! The dumping syndrome is severe taking up to 8 hours or more to pass. I would not do it again. Sent from my SM-S737TL using BariatricPal mobile app -
Ulcer. Have it checked. I had an ulcer along surgical line. Needed 2 months at least of treatment. Call someone from your surgical team. Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app

You will. I assure you. In fact after nearly a year I'm struggling to get back on track. If you don't the weight creeps back. I felt the same way. It got worse because I developed an ulcer and could hardly eat anything. I can eat almost anything now but have trouble if I eat to much bread or meat. Be patient. 6 days after my surgery last year my sense of smell changed. I started smelling gasoline then cigarette smoke. I don't drive or smoke. Things tasted different to. I'll soon see a specialist to work on why since it still continues 10 months later..... Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app

How long ( minutes) do you allow for a meal?
MFM008 replied to AZBlackhawk's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 10 months out. I eat as slowly as possible. Sometime my food goes cold. I'd rather do that rather than have an episode of dumping... Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app -
In 1987 I lost 70 pounds to fast and got kidney and gallstones. Something to drink a lot of water to help manage. Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app

Am I EVER GOING TO ENJOY FOOD EVER AGAIN
MFM008 replied to KKLive's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I went through the same thing plus I got an ulcer along the surgical incision. Yes you will. But some things still bother my stomach after 9 months. Meats like beef. Greasy stuff. Always eat slowly. I've eaten to fast and you get dumping syndrome which is a nightmare. Eat slowly. Your doctor will guide you. Follow it carefully. Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Can't drink Protein, HELP!
MFM008 replied to Tessa1988's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I kind of had the same problem. I was able to drink the vanilla premiere protein shake. Make sure it's very cold but not iced. The chocolate was to flavored and sweet the other flavors gave me the runs. -
Yup 5 months out...lots of hair loss.

Yeah you feel like your on the verge of throwing up. A lot of gas and burping. Nausea. DONT DO IT. You want to try tiny amounts of new foods first to test tolerance. Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App

sleep test is nothing. You just sleep lol. A PET scan terrified me and delayed my surgery by 3 months. Then they found an abnormality. A possible heart attack. (!!!!!). OR...OR an artifact caused by a bone casting a shadow. No way to tell. Surgery went good. Post op not so good. Don't worry about sleep test they put electrodes on you and that's it. It's all good.
