I personally am getting tired of chicken. It's almost all I eat for dinner. Or eggs, if my band is having a hard time.
-
I can't eat in the morning either. Just can't do it. I am trying to have a protein shake when I wake up, but I'm usually late to work and don't get around to it. A couple hours after I wake up I have a light Yoplait yogurt, and then lunch a couple hours after that.

I have a lean cuisine, a light yoplait yogurt, and a banana.

Hi! I'm living in Texas now but will be moving to Buffalo at the end of the summer. Do you like your doctor? I am looking for a band doctor in the Buffalo area. Also, did you like living in Buffalo? I am moving for a job. I'm excited but would love any tips about the area.

Can anyone tell me the advantages of purchasing the fitday software? What do you get that you don't get with the regular free online stuff? Also, my fitday.com thing says I'm not getting enough vitamins/minerals from my food. Is there a way to take into account the multivitamin I take every day?
-
JanetC, what does the PC version do that the online one doesn't? I agree that it's not very expensive, and it would be well worth it if you get special benefits. What "extra" features does the PC version have, if anyone knows?

I still drink coffee every day and a couple glasses of wine every week. What's wrong with that?
-
I'm not willing to give up all sweets, totally. I try to limit and leave it to special occasions, but life without chocolate is not a life I want to live.
-
Thank you for the tip!

I posted a threat asking if there are any bandsters in the Buffalo area. I guess there aren't. My next question is this: any advice on finding a band doctor in a new town? I don't know how to go about it. Thanks.

Increased depression/anxiety after surgery?
Monica S replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel depressed and anxious when I take opiate meds. Are you on the painkillers still? They could definitely contribute. I hope you feel better. You are not alone. -
I take 5 pills a day, at least, and I have never had a pill get "stuck". I also do have good restriction, and food has been stuck. But never a pill.
-
How many of us (me included) take psych meds? I'm on Lexapro and Xanax.

I thought hiccups had to do with your epiglottis flapping (the flap at the back of your throat that closes the entrance to your windpipe when you swallow). I don't understand what they have to do with your stomach.
-
I get hiccups every day since being banded, usually after I drink something (anything!). I have never heard the connection between hiccups and PBs. What's up with that? I hiccup after I have a sip of Water in the morning, but I don't have any tightness or discomfort. Why do the hiccups happen?

antidepressants/psych meds?
Monica S replied to Monica S's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You don't have to be tapered off Prozac if you discontinue it, because it stays in your bloodstream for 14 days and will taper itself off naturally if you stop taking it. That's also why it takes 14-21 days to start working. The other drugs you do have to taper off, though, or you will feel that sick feeling. -
what was your weight-gain pattern?
Monica S replied to vinesqueen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had many times in my life where I lost a bunch of weight by starving myself, then gained back tons more. The biggest issue came when I quit smoking and gained 60 lbs., like, immediately. -
how much protien? whats the deal...
Monica S replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was told not to count grams, but to make sure that half of every meal is protein. This has been working for me. -
My doctor gave me a standardized test when I first went in for a consult. The test asked a lot about how much information do you want to know about your procedure, about your health in general, how much trust do you have in your doctor, and how involved you want to be in the process. This leads me to believe that different people want different amounts of info and decision making power. I want it all! I want to know everything. The decision only becomes better with more info.

When did your fills really start to work for you?
Monica S replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know, it's weird. I have had 2 fills and do not feel any difference. I wish I were one of the lucky ones who felt a difference right away. I don't know how it can happen that I have 2ccs in a 4cc band and not notice anything. -
I'm from Sacramento! My family still lives there and my aunt is thinking about the lap band. I will tell her about Sacramento Bariatric Associates. Thanks for the reference! It's amazing what you learn by reading these threads.

When did your fills really start to work for you?
Monica S replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great question! I have had 2 fills, and it seems like they "kicked in" a couple weeks afterward. However, I still don't have much restriction. My doctor also told me that you're supposed to feel a fill right away. He has done thousands of lab band surgeries and has not heard of a fill "kicking in" later on. I am very interested to know what other people have experienced. -
For those of you who think you're going to hell for telling lies about your surgery--you believe in a much harsher God than I do! Plus, I have done so much worse in my life than telling a lie like this. Y'all must be saints!
-
You have every right to keep it to yourself. And lying about stuff like that doesn't really count anyway. It's just a way to facilitate social interactions.

Ohmygod Leenerbups--I LOVE THE COWBELL SKETCH!!! That's the best thing ever.
