This entire time I've been beating myself up because I feel like I either haven't lost as much as I feel as though I should have...or I'm not seeing enough changes. And then I compare pictures like this! Slowly but surely I'm getting there!!! About 10lbs more until I get to my short term goal! HW: 274 SW: 262 CW: 232 VGS: 11/17/16

Anybody recommend any good pre-workouts? I need something to give me an extra boost when I'm feeling sluggish before working out. But don't want to take just anything.

Thank youuu! Being nervous iscompletely normal! But you will be just fine. So excited for you!

As far as overall taste, price and consistency premier has always been my favorite! The chocolate one never gets old! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
The same thing happened to me...I was schedules for the 15th of November and they called me the day before saying they had to reschedule for the 17th. Soo sorry your delay threw such a monkey wrench in your plans! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Same! I also wore my binder for at least 2 weeks out so that def helped a lot too. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Trust me you are not alone! I was sleeved 11/17 and as of last week I'm down only 14lbs...which I've seen people lose in like a week. Also same as above...I feel like I'm constantly hungry and can almost eat just about anything (haven't eaten anything crazy lol) but don't get discouraged and don't delete the app. I know it's hard not to compare yourself to others but just know there's many people on this app who are going through or have gone through the same thing we are. I know eventually it'll all be worth it! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Haven't lost a lot of weight Pre-Op? Anyone else in the same boat?
Raechel replied to VSG2Be90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's the one thing that gets us...comparing ourselves to others. Remember everyone loses weight at a different pace. As stated above as long as you're losing you're good! Especially if he didn't give you a specific amount. Don't sweat it! You'll be fine! Best of luck! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
I got papers from my insurance company in the mail saying that everything had been approved. Then my surgeons office called to set up the actual date if the procedure. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

I'm literally in the exact same position. I'll be a month out this Thursday and so far including pre op I lost 25lbs. I too feel like it's slower than what I expected but I'm not going to stress over it. Also I try to only weight myself once a week. I know weight fluctuates a lot and I'm not trying to stress myself out. Don't worry we'll get there! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

One week post op and no weight loss
Raechel replied to Frenchie1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're probably just still really swollen. Give it some time I'm sure it'll start to come off! Best of luck! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
Feeling Scared and Needing Reassurance.
Raechel replied to vsg_fairy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is completely normal to be nervous beforehand. For the months leading up to my surgery I was nothing but excited! Once the one week mark hit I was terrified! Since that was my first time having major surgery. But trust me you will be fine. Waking up in recovery I remember being slightly nauseous and in pain, nothing crazy though. In my still drugged state I had asked for medicine for both, so by the time I came to I felt better. I did have waves of nausea and vomiting throughout the night, but I think that all depends on the person. I was actually a special/difficult case so thinking back on it now I'm not surprised. In regards to pain I never really asked for medicine, they always just gave it to me but by day 2 I was completely off of them. I also asked for non narcotic pain medicine because I didn't want to potentially get sick from the harder stuff! But it worked just fine. Again true me you'll be fine! Best of luck!!! Must haves gizmos and gadgets?

I'm a big fan of the crackpot! Especially since for a while you're going to need to be taking in soft foods so it's perfect! Made a huge pit of chicken and lentils for the family last night and it came out better than I expected! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
1) the pain for me wasn't too bad. I mean I definitely noticed it when I got to recovery...but in my drugged state I was able to ask for drugs and by the time I was awake enough to know what was going on they had kicked in. For the most part it just feels really sore. Nothing unbearable. 2) it was mostly just my incisions that hurt. Didn't really feel much on the inside. 3) to be completely honest I'm 3 weeks out and have yet to get the proper amount of Water in. I feel like as long as you drink a good amount you should be fine. But I'm definitely still working up to it, as you probably should too once you're post op. I've heard some crazy things about dehydration after! 4)I definitely wouldn't recommend it! I have a lot of little kids/babies in my family and I had to kind of keep my distance from them. I'm normally the fun one they liked to jump all over but I knew it would end up hurting myself if I tried to play. 5) I drove about 2 days after I got home and I regretted it. While I could do it I felt different for sure. I would wait at least a week if not 2 if you can! 6) it all depends on the person. I know a lot of people experience quite a lot of swelling and sometimes even gain weight due to that. I lost 6lbs the first week then only 2 the week after. Everyone is different when it comes to weightloss. 7) it literally gets better every day! As long as you take it easy and follow you're surgeons directions you will be fine! 8) I myself am also a stomach sleeper and was soooo sad when I wasn't able to. I felt way too bloated and it actually hurt. Some people however are able to do it even days after the surgery. It took me about 2 weeks to be able to sleep on my stomach comfortably. Even still I have to keep a pillow under my one incision that's still a little tender. 9) the diet usually goes in stages. In the hospital I was in Clear Liquids only but once I was released i was on full liquids. 2 weeks later when I saw my surgeon he put me on pureed foods. I see him again this Thursday so hopefully after that I'll be on soft foods. From then on I'm pretty sure it's all trial and error with what you can tolerate as well as just trying to maintain your weight. 10) I have head stories of people experiencing hair loss. It has yet to happen to me, but as a precaution I was advised to take Biotin. I hope this helps!!! Good luck with everything! And trust me you'll be fine! It'll all be well worth it! Protein drinks and bananas
Raechel replied to losingit828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have bananas in shakes all the time at 3 weeks out and have never had a problem. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
Omg! I know exactly how you feel! During my stay in the hospital EVERY time I got up to go to the bathroom I got the hiccups! Very painful considering I was fresh out of surgery. Sorry I'm not more helpful but I just kinda dealt with it. In the hospital my surgeon said he could give me something for it but time felt silly asking for it so I never did. Premier Protein - Gas
Raechel replied to dreamer215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told before my surgery that those may not agree with me right after surgery...and they were right! While they were my goto pre op the milk for my new stomach was a little too much. I was told to start off with whey Protein ISOLATE to start just because it didn't contain the stuff that makes you gassy. I bought that in powder form and would mix it with almond milk and it was perfect. But it has to be ISOLATE, not Whey protein blend or concentrate. I am now 3 weeks out and they no longer bother me so it does get better! Hope this helps! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
I was told after you're off pain meds. But I was off of them before I even left the hospital and was driving before I was even a week out...not advised! I could do it but I know I shouldn't have been. I definitely felt different. I would give it at least a full week of not 2. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Released from hospital today. 4 days post op
Raechel replied to jkhaughaboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Were you vomiting while in the hospital? From what I heard for the first week or 2 nausea is very common and normal. Did they prescribe you any anti nausea medication Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App -
