    Final Name Poll

My surgery is on May 13th as well. I don't think of it as unlucky at all, but I'm a person who's always thought of 13 as a lucky number. Regardless, I consider it lucky because that's the day our lives are going to change. :biggrin2:
  2. I definitely wouldn't be opposed to doing another quick poll with the top three (or four since third place is tied) names. It would be nice if we could get our name picked and our banner made by April 1st...that'll give us a month to get ready for our big days! It would also be cool if we could create a master schedule that lists everyone getting banded in May and what dates their surgeries are.

    I am scheduled for May

Well it was a sad day today to actually see my ticker go UP, but I actually had to postpone my surgery a week. I'm happy to say that I'll still be a May girl, but my date has been pushed back to May 13th. Fortunately though, my postponement is for a GOOD reason! My friend is getting married just 3 days after when I would have had my surgery, and I couldn't possibly miss her wedding. I just didn't want to risk traveling so quickly after surgery, so this is certainly for the best. I heard someone else refer to their surgery date as their B-day, and that gives me so much excitement! I wish my day was getting closer, rather than farther away, but I'm excited that we'll still be going through this journey together!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you all like it! Hopefully we can decide on a name soon and I can personalize one for everyone. :biggrin2:

I've been looking at the logos for some of the other months, and I really like what the Shrinking Violets did, incorporating their names and pictures into their logos. I think it gives it a little bit of personalization and helps us to know each other even better. I did a version of the logo I designed that could be personalized like that. I'd be happy to personalize other peoples' logos for anyone who doesn't know how to. Let me know what you think! Once again, if we decide on a different name, this can be changed. Introducing the May Bandsters

Hello everyone! A little bit about myself... My name is Jessica and I live in Atlanta, GA. I am scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart with True Results Weight Loss. I do marketing and PR for a race team, a dream job that I've been doing for over a year. I'm 25 years old, and at 5'3" I'm 180 lbs with a BMI of 32. I've been overweight for over 17 years and I have PCOS and nodes on my thyroid. Because I've been overweight nearly my entire life, I feel like I've missed out on so much, and I've decided I'm not going to miss out anymore. I've never been in a relationship with a guy, never experienced intimacy of any kind, and despite my wonderful job, friends, and family, I feel like my weight has cheated me out of the happiness I think we all deserve. I want to experience walking into a room without feeling like the least pretty girl there. I want to feel like someone can fall in love with ALL of me, not fall for me DESPITE my weight. I want to have the courage to take chances in my personal life, and feel like my weight isn't holding back my professional life. When I turned 25, I knew that I had to get in control. I made up my mind that I will have my life in control by the time I'm 30. I want to fall in love and get married someday, and I want to feel beautiful in a wedding dress. I want to feel sexy and beautiful and HAPPY. We only have one life, and I don't want to waste another year of it by wishing I was thin, and torturing myself with diets when my body was fighting me the entire way. I KNOW that this surgery is my chance to find the butterfly that's hiding inside this caterpillar, and I can't wait to begin my new life and become a healthy and happy woman. I look forward to hearing more about all of you, and I'm excited that we'll be going through this journey together!
  7. I want to be able to look my best friend in the eye and tell him that I've fallen for him. I want to be comfortable in front of MYSELF naked. I want to have sex for the first time.

    I am scheduled for May

I keep thinking about how appropriate it is that we're making this enormous change during the spring...it just seems like the perfect time for a new life and a rebirth. It's funny how I'm already thinking of my surgery date as my "other" birthday.

    Somebody Stop Me!

Thanks everyone! It's good to know I'm not alone! I absolutely intend to stick to the pre-op diet for the two weeks as my Dr. instructed. I just need to get a little bit of control between now and then! I had the opportunity to schedule my surgery much sooner, (2 weeks after my initial consult, which would have had me getting banded this week) but I had to postpone until May because I'm going on a business trip to Mexico City at the end of April and I didn't want to be that far away from my doctor and eating funny in a situation where I won't have control over where and when we eat. I keep trying to remind myself that waiting was for the best in the long run, and it has given me a ton of time to research and learn, but I just want to get started! I think I'm actually going to try to wean myself onto my pre-op diet of Protein shakes, and high protein/low fat foods. When I'm given strict instructions for a plan, I can follow it perfect, but left to my own devices I struggle to make the right choices. The last supper is one thing, and I don't regret enjoying the foods I'm going to have to avoid in the future, but stretching it out for 2 months can definitely do some damage!

Rollercoasters - no, NOT the emotional kind!

Size aside, does anyone forsee/has anyone experienced a problem riding a roller coaster with the band? I was wondering if the motion/gravity of an extremely high, fast, or loopy coaster could make you uncomfortable or move the band. I know a lot of people get sick on roller coasters, and even if you don't, I'm wondering if your stomach would be going crazy. I LOVE roller coasters, so I'd love to hear if anyone has had any experiences with this.

    NutriSystem

I have done both NutriSystem and Jenny Craig (as well as every other diet under the sun) and I believe that Jenny Craig is SO much better. NutriSystem made me feel like I was eating military food meant to survive in a bomb shelter for 100 years. Much of the Jenny Craig food is frozen rather than shelf stable, so I feel like it is fresher and more "natural." It tastes SO much better and has much more variety. Most importantly, I actually had success losing weight on Jenny Craig, and I never lost a pound on NutriSystem. I'm sure some people like it and do well on it, but if you're choosing a program like that, JC is the way to go. Good luck!
  13. Hi Cindy! Welcome to the board! I am a soon-to-be bandster with a lower BMI as well. I am scheduled for May 6th and I can't wait. I currently have a BMI of 32 with some comorbidities. I'd really love to keep in touch with you in regard to your progress...keep me posted! -Jessica
  14. Lynn,

I saw that you posted a response about Pam Miller at True Results in Atlanta, but when I went to the forum the post isn't there. It was Pam who told me everything was covered when I spoke to her last week...when did you find out that things weren't covered?

    I am scheduled for May

Thanks so much! I personally like May Miracles, but if we decide to go with a different name I can do the same layout with the different name. I can also make it a little smaller if people prefer something smaller. Time keeps going by and I'm watching my ticker go down, but I wish May was here already! I'm ready to get started! :biggrin2:

    no insurance/lapband

The website for True Results is Lap Band Surgery (Gastric Banding Weight Loss Surgery Experts) | True Results. You can view the location and contact information there, as well as schedule a consultation. It is an outpatient procedure, but it is performed at a hospital near the center. I don't know why the huge price difference! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I am scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart at True Results Weight Loss in Atlanta, GA. The cost of my surgery is $15,500 and includes 2 years of aftercare, including fills and nutritional information. It also includes any hospital stay if necessary, and covers any complications as a result of the procedure. There are obviously less expensive places to get it done, but I feel this price is well worth having a doctor in my city and local fills. I also feel much more comfortable with knowing that complications are covered, as I am a self pay and I'm sure any additional procedures could get very expensive. I got my financing through True Care Credit, which the office recommended to me. They have two different financing companies that they work with, and you can choose the one that offers you the lowest interest rate or the financing terms that meet your needs. True Care offers financing for up to 84 months! Good luck!

    Hi from Atlanta, GA.

Hello and welcome! I live in Atlanta too! I am scheduled for May 6th with True Results Weight Loss, and my surgeon is also Dr. Hart. Nobody there was pushy about trying to talk me into the surgery, however one of the women wanted to get me scheduled sooner than I wanted. I had to go back into the office for a test and I just rescheduled with a different person. I liked Dr. Hart a lot when I met him and what I've heard about him has all been positive.
  21. My favorite is "No Time For Colds." It's in the same section as the Airborne and Zicam and it's in a blue box with big yellow letters. It always works for me!

    I am scheduled for May

Hey everyone! I am scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart in Atlanta, GA. It seems I'm the earliest so far...I'll have to be the May guinea pig! :biggrin2: It's good to know that there are others around my surgery date, we'll all be healing, learning, and shrinking together! I like the May Miracles but I look forward to hearing everyone's suggestions and voting as we get closer!
  24. Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone here has had their surgery done through True Results Weight Loss For Good or by Dr. Hart. I am located in Atlanta, GA and I'm scheduled for my surgery on May 6th with Dr. Hart. I'm pretty sure that the office in Atlanta is pretty new, but I know that True Results has offices across the country, and that Dr. Hart has had a lot of experience, so I was hoping someone might be able to share their experience. I'm particularly interested in hearing about the care they recieved AFTER surgery, such as fills, etc. Everyone at the center has seemed wonderful so far and I'm looking forward to getting banded!
