I agree with everything that everyone has shared. The truth is, I was terribly afraid of the surgery as well. I did tons of research. I work in a hospital, and know that the risks were minimal, but we type A people just don't like giving Up control. You just need to move past the fears and anxieties and focus on the end result, which is a healthier, thinner and (hopefully) happier you!!! Best wishes!

Please don't be offended, but... 1) Are you active?? 2) Are you sticking to the diet?? If you are, then chances are you need to get another fill... If not, then here's my motivation...Maybe it will work for you. Everytime I start to "fall off the wagon", I remind myself that I actually had surgery to help myself win the battle with weight. I think about the recovery, the scars, the gas, the pain, and that I don't want it to all be for nothing...It usually works for me. Plus, once you start to lose the weight, you get really excited, and it gets a little easier. Good Luck! Stay Strong and Positive!! You can do it!!!

What food have you sworn off for good??
wenderella replied to Kathy473's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Anita, Don't fear...Chances are pretty good that your likes and dislikes will change post-op. I have noticed that now that I have good and bad days with the foods that I have eaten forever, I am more willing to give different things a try. Plus... chances are pretty good that your nutritionist will encourage you to use soy products instead of dairy anyway, since they are low in fat. -

I have to say that every day is different for me. Oneday something will go down just fine...and the next day, not so much. The only thing I can officially say I will never have again is a bagel. I chewed and chewed my tiny bites until I could barely remember what I was eating, and STILL it haunted me for an entire day. Do any of you have the same one day good, the next day bad experience with food too?? -

Do you attend Mauri's support group? I didn't have my surgery done by Dr. Kwon, but I know several people who did. Have you checked with other surgical groups to find out if Aetna would cover the surgery with them?? $5,000 is quite a bit of money.. You never know.. You might be able to find an equally wonderful surgeon who is covered...
