    Need some tips

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I agree with @Creekimp13. Walking helped me the most. Good luck!
  2. Welcome to the group. Whenever someone in this group asks if anyone else has experienced what they're experiencing, 99.9% of the time the answer is yes. I experienced what you're experiencing. What helped me was adding something to the water. Some people like Mio. I prefer Crystal Light. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Post op question

Experience vary quite a bit. I've read some people become debilitatingly nauseous. I'm fortunate to be on the opposite end of the spectrum. I was sleeved three & a half years ago & have never thrown up since. Know that no matter what your experience is, you are not alone. Good luck.

    Feeling weird

I'm sorry you feel this way. I hope you ate something & are feeling better. Good luck!

    Strange "out of it" feeling

I'm sorry this is happening to you. You don't deserve it. If you don't feel your surgical team is really hearing you about this, please seek a second opinion. This might be from your general practitioner or a specialist. If you don't feel right, you deserve care. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Functioning Alcoholic

This sounds very much like my experience, though wine was my drink of choice. A lie we tell ourselves is that "no one noticed". If you drank as much as we did, believe me, someone noticed at some point. I got to the point that drinking became more painful than not drinking. When you reach that inflection point, it becomes much easier to quit than when you're in the depth of it. It's now been more than six months since I've had a drink. I've talked about this on this board previously. At night I have one small marijuana edible to take the edge off. Ninety minutes later I'm ready to go to sleep. I sleep so much better now & I'm saving a ton of money. @_Kate_ if you ever want to message me privately for support, please don't hesitate to do so! Good luck. You are not alone.

    Weight gain

I'm sorry this is happening. Surgical teams want to see progress for at least two reasons: 1. It demonstrates you're committed; 2. It's easier for them to operate on you. Pardon the pun, but it's gut-check time. Please consider why you gained 10 pounds during this time. Really identify what the cause is & work to eliminate it. Is it possible there's a bit of self sabotage going on? Many of us have experienced that. Good luck to you. You are not alone.

    Help?(:

Are you familiar with the concept of head hunger? It's when your brain says, "Feed me!" even when your body doesn't need more fuel. It's a huge contributor to weight gain. MANY of us have experienced it. My suggestion is to really understand the concept & be prepared when it arrives. That will give you a huge advantage before & after your surgery. Good luck! You are not alone.

In Boston, at Fire + Ice...

I used to live in Boston & know that place! In the more than three years since I was sleeved, I don't go to all you can eat restaurants any more. For me it's become more about quality than quantity. I'm lucky that my wife really supports me both at home & at restaurants. She's good about sharing. I mention this not just as a suggestion, but as proof that when someone helps you, your efforts multiply. Good luck. You are not alone.
  10. I suppose if you were chugging milkshakes you could find a way to gain weight during that stage. I wouldn't sweat it. Good luck.

    Getting started

LOTS of people have been in your situation. In fact, that's something you'll discover the longer you're on this board. Whatever you're about to go through, other people have gone through too. Good luck. You are not alone.

Hi I had my bypass on 1/29

In addition to what's already been suggested, try walking more. That always gets things moving for me! Congratulations on your surgery! Now that you've had it, you might find more answers on the post-surgery section of this forum. Good luck! You are not alone.
  13. Remember that you are not alone. No matter what happens, you're not the only person to ever experience what you're experiencing. We're all in this together.

    Anxiety before surgery

If you don't have surgery, will you regret it later? For what it's worth, LOTS of us had anxiety & wondered whether we should have surgery. Three years later, I look back & wonder what I was so tied up in knots about. You are not alone. Good luck!

    New to process and torn

Welcome to the forum. Whenever someone on this board asks, "Anyone else experience this?" The answer is YES! We've all had doubts, we've all cheated a little here or there, & we've all dusted ourselves off & gotten back on program. And you know what? You will too! You are not alone.

    What weight

Down this path lies madness. With all due respect, don't concern yourself with how much or how fast others lose weight. This is not a race we're running against each other. You're doing great. Celebrate that!

Sure. "I had weight loss surgery. I'm not sick. In fact, I'm healthier than ever!"

    New!

Welcome, Alice. What if you weren't the type of person who avoids going to the doctors at all costs? What if you were the type of person who embraced a new approach, which includes regular visits to someone who can help you? It really is that easy. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Need some reassurances

Been there. This is all very new for you & you're still not sure if it'll work. It will, given time. You just had surgery. You need time to heal. You will lose weight. Believe. You are not alone.
  20. You should be nervous! You're having surgery! When I had it more than three years ago, I was scared out of my mind. I was convinced I was going to die on the operating table. It's perfectly okay to feel nervous. You are not alone.
  21. You are not alone. I'm more than three years past sleeve surgery. I've regained a bit too. One possible problem I'm ready is you're trying to do this all by yourself & lacking motivation. It sounds to me like you need a weight-loss partner. Someone who shares you enthusiasm to restart your efforts & keep yourself accountable. Give it a try! Good luck!
  22. All of these are good suggestions. Also, are you on any blood pressure medications? A few weeks after surgery my doctors took me off because I didn't need them anymore & was getting dizzy. Good luck to you!
  23. Are you still on any pain medications, by chance. I had some that made me RAGE. I got off those as quickly as I could. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Good luck.
  24. Three years ago the hospital I had my sleeve at gave me a printout the size of a business card it says: In Case of Medical Emergency: This person has undergone Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery. Surgery has altered the stomach capacity to less than four ounces. He/She is under the care of: {Hospital name & phone number} Friends & I tried to brainstorm when I would need this. The only thing we came up with is if I ever had to get my stomach pumped. Having the info on your phone with emergency contact info is probably a good way to go. Good luck!
