Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
DaleCruse replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you planning to be pregnant again? If so, please speak with your physician about how to proceed. Good luck! -
This is very common. I was sleeved two years ago and still find plain water uncomfortable. Crystal Light for me. Good luck!
-
Congratulations!

2 days Post-Op Question
DaleCruse replied to fallenfeatherstudio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I had sleeve surgery more than two years ago, I've struggled to stay hydrated. Drink up but don't chug. Good luck! -
I didn't.

That entirely depends on the person.

Slurpee 7 days post opp
DaleCruse replied to nataliebx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably haven't broken anything, if that's what you're worried. But maybe don't do that again. Good luck. -
Each person is a bit different. I started sleeping on my stomach again the second day after surgery. It just depends. Good luck.

Gained weight on purpose?
DaleCruse replied to Sparkles21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my opinion you're going down a very difficult path. Please reconsider. -
The phase you're in was one of the hardest for me. Consider changing your state. I'm not suggesting you move out of your house. :-) What I mean is that when you're thinking about food, recognize it, and purposely start doing something else. Just about anything else. Take a walk, read a book, do your favorite hobby, contribute here, etc. Talk with other people. Tell them what you're going through. Ask for help. You can do this!

These are good suggestions. Also ask your surgical team if they have any strategies you can use. Good luck!

Don't want to regain
DaleCruse replied to Jesm1029's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've identified your own problem. You don't want to regain but you're cheating. Find ways to fix the problem and you'll fix your outcome. Good luck! -
Isopure flavored protein
DaleCruse replied to lunnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Isopure with coffee Protein powder first thing in the morning before Breakfast or actual coffee. Protein plus a little caffeine is a powerful way to start the day! https://www.amazon.com/Isopure-Coffee-Protein-Powder-Espresso/dp/B00B7YK45Y?th=1 -
Each day is a little different from the last. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better!

Good luck! You got this!

Mental Illness & WLS
DaleCruse replied to TiggerFan72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These are all good questions. Please talk with your psychiatrist about them. Consider framing the discussion as you wanting to have surgery and asking that person how they can help you succeed. Discussing it that way puts the onus on your psychiatrist to help you rather than you asking that person if it's okay to have the surgery. It's a subtle distinction and I hope it serves you well! Let us know how it goes! -
The pre-op liquid diet was the hardest phase for me. Each person is different, though. Good luck! You can do this!

1st Psych Eval Tomorrow 12/13/16
DaleCruse replied to Krystyneh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're getting a lot of varied responses, from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Mine was an hour or so. Relax, breathe, and do what you need to do, no matter how long it takes. Good luck! -
What to bring to the hospital
DaleCruse replied to magnificent2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw that YouTube video about GasX strips also. I took a bunch to the hospital and didn't need a single one. Each of us is different. Consider taking a light book containing your favorite inspiration. Instead of staring at your phone for hours, give yourself a break and read something else. Or maybe listen to an audio book. -
Its been a while since I have posted so here goes

If I'm struggling now, will I cope after?
DaleCruse replied to theonejess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's past does not have to be prologue! Good luck! -
As long as you're not chugging olive oil, some in moderation should be fine. I can't think of any one food, eaten once, that would derail or disqualify someone from having weight-loss surgery.

Feeling Scared and Needing Reassurance.
DaleCruse replied to vsg_fairy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Breathe. Repeat. You can do this!
