How long did gas pain last?
DaleCruse replied to cp_catcher19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different, yes. Ahead of surgery three years ago, I was told I'd have gas. I packed plenty of those GasX strips to take to the hospital. I had the surgery & then... nothing. I waited for that gas to show up but it never did. Everyone is different. Good luck! -
2 weeks post op and feeling down.
DaleCruse replied to Bekahou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ZinNH is right with that analogy. So many of us view surgery as the destination. It isn't. It's just the biggest event on your way to your destination, which is after you're healed & are doing daily maintenance. The destination isn't a number on a scale or even lower blood pressure. It's living your new life. -
Preop weight loss?!?
DaleCruse replied to prettyricki's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They *should*. If they say no at first, appeal. Show them documentation that this is supervised weight loss. Good luck! -
Well, that hunger doesn't disappear the moment you leave the hospital or anything. It will take time, but you'll get there. Please stop beating yourself up. That does no good. Instead, become your own best friend. Acknowledge when you've veered from the plan, but don't beat yourself up. Good luck. You got this!

Got my sleeve yesterday
DaleCruse replied to diamondrr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to you! Welcome to the other side! This is tough right now, but it will get better! Good luck! -
Regarding that full feeling, when I start hiccuping, I know I'm full. I've heard of others who start sneezing when full!

Pain and regrets
DaleCruse replied to dominiquekyani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this normal? You bet it is! Lots of us experienced regret. Soon you're going to start feeling better. Weight is going to start coming off, you're going to start fitting into smaller clothes, people will notice. That feeling of regret will fade away. You'll reach a point when the only thing you'll regret is not doing this sooner. Congratulations on your surgery! Good luck! -
Surgery date on Monday
DaleCruse replied to diamondrr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's okay to be nervous. Eyes on the prize! Good luck! See you over on the post-op forum! -
I'm three years past surgery & I've never heard of that.

Will I ever be able to eat normally again?
DaleCruse replied to Phobia42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6'1 & was sleeved three years ago. I consume about 1,200-1,500 calories a day. If I eat more than that, I gain weight. One of the best things I did for myself is to eliminate the word "normal". For me, what I experience post WLS IS normal. And it sounds to me like what you're going through is normal too. Good luck! -

Tip: Having problems with portion control in the long run?
DaleCruse replied to Cujucuyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great tip! Using a smaller fork makes you take smaller bites. Eating with chopsticks when possible also limits how much we put in our mouths at a time too. Good stuff! -
I've not heard that term either. Either way, good luck!

Did anyone start their pre op early
DaleCruse replied to Drea8989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is perhaps the longest run-on sentence I've ever read! Wow! The pre-op diet is very restrictive. It takes a lot of willpower. If you can start it early & maintain it, go for it. Good luck! -
Please advise me on a vitamin that won't make me ill
DaleCruse replied to Bobcats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried crushing vitamins into powder? I'm sorry this is happening to you. Good luck! -
Pre op must haves!?!
DaleCruse replied to theresa_86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't have done it without the right attitude. -
10 days out! Don't like preop diet
DaleCruse replied to Aginn10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never met a person who was "perfect" preop. I know I wasn't. Do the best you can & use the advice to try different shakes. If you don't eat anything as you claim, it's possible you're still overweight because your body is in starvation mode & slowing down your metabolism. It seems counter to lose weight by eating more, but it may help. Good luck. -
PostOp Facial Skin Rashes & Hair Growth
DaleCruse replied to Cat DaCougar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you think Biotin is causing unwanted hair growth, stop taking it. I never took it. Good luck! -
Feeling very down and upset
DaleCruse replied to graziellabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When of the skills each of us has to develop is how to tell truth from bullshit. If anyone tells you you'll never eat X food again, that's bullshit. After a time, you'll get to the point that you can eat just about anything. It might be a very small amount, but you'll be able to eat it. There are plenty of things you probably shouldn't eat, but that's a different matter. Good luck! -
There is no best brand. Good luck!

DaleCruse replied to zleng's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You got this! -
I'm very sorry for your losses. One upside is you're being battle tested. There will be difficult moments before & after surgery. When those happen, remember that if you survived what you're surviving now, you'll survive again. Good luck!
