    New here

Welcome. Breathe. Repeatedly. Believe you can do this. You are not alone. Good luck!
  2. October 16, 2014, I had sleeve gastrectomy surgery. A lot's happened since then. Ask me anything.

    Blood pressure

Who took you off your blood pressure medication? If it was your surgical team, that's one thing. But if you took yourself off, that's a different matter. Either way, please consult your surgical team & together agree on a plan. Good luck!
  4. You're stronger than I would have been. You got this. Does it get easier than Thanksgiving? Yes! Congratulations on making it through!

    Can’t stop puking!

No. Please contact your surgical team. Good luck!

    Why is it a secret?

All the other surgical procedures listed here are invisible to other people. The weight loss associated with bariatric surgery is very visible. People are going to notice you're losing weight. You could tell them & control your own narrative or you could remain silent & let people dream up reasons you're losing weight. "Is she sick?! Do he have cancer?! I bet it's HIV!" Control your narrative or let others do it for you.

    Drinking after VSG..

Badly. I've always been a drinker. Once I fully healed I became more of a drinker. One to two bottles of wine a day every day. I don't recommend that. If you're the kind of person who can have one or two drinks & stop, I envy you. I know myself well enough to know if there's a bottle open, I need to finish it. Today makes 105 days since I've had a drink.
  8. It always fascinates me to read that others hide their surgery. Whether you tell anyone or not, people are going to notice you're quickly losing weight! I owned it. I told everyone - sometimes even strangers! Of all the people I told, I only received ONE negative reaction. It was a very overweight woman who thought surgery was "cheating". She's out of my life now so whatever. I also realize I'm exercising a bit of white male privilege when telling everyone about my WLS & not worrying about their reaction.

You're on the right path. Welcome & good luck!

    Caffeine

If you've already had surgery, you'll find more answers on the post-surgery forum. That said, I started coffee a week or so after surgery. At first it was a small amount with milk. Take it slow. Good luck!
  12. You could do literally any other thing than eat. You can also eat, just a smaller amount. If anyone gives you grief about it, tell them this is how you celebrate now.
  13. Body shamers are horrible. But if Mariah feels better & is healthier, I say good for her. https://pagesix.com/2017/11/06/body-shamers-spur-mariah-carey-to-have-weight-loss-surgery/

6 months pre op diet Fail

Wow, you sound defeatist. If you believe nothing will ever help you lose weight, you'll be right. However, if you think this time will be different, you'll also be right!
  15. I hear you. You *might* have vagus nerve problems, but you might not. Does that mean you shouldn't have the surgery? Let me ask another question: You *might* get hit by a car crossing the street. Does that mean you shouldn't leave the house? No matter what we do, there are risks. Even doing nothing has risks, especially when it comes to our bodies. In your plea, I hear fear talking. It's time to tell fear to STFU. Good luck!

Great insight. For more about how to apply this idea to the rest of life, check out Google the name James Clear.

    Time frame?

It'll take as long as it'll take. That answer might not be comforting but it'll give you the most accurate expectation. Good luck!

    Pre-Op

Welcome to the forum. This question has been asked many times. Do a search to find those many discussions. I'm a fan of Isopure. Good luck!
  23. Thank you. Congratulations on your surgery! What you're experiencing now will change. And then it'll change again. And again. You don't feel full now? You most likely will. Pay attention to what your body tells you. Hang around this forum long enough & you'll find SO MANY people who, because other weight-loss approaches haven't worked for them in the past, believe surgery won't work either. It will. But first you have to believe it. Good luck. You are not alone.
  24. It's possible, but it hurts. You'd have to really work to keep shoving food in past the point of fullness. It's not something I do.
  25. No. The only things you need to do forever is breathe & pay taxes.
