Left Side Pain 17 mo post op
GourmetH20 replied to LovinMe2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I know it has been some years since this was started but I wanted to share my info just in case someone is looking for the same issue. My left side under rib cage dull pain would only be on set when sitting. I am 16 months since my sleeve and have lost 130+ lbs. I went for several tests and on some days the pain was so bad I would go to the ER to be told they have no idea what is wrong with me. I had CT Scans and MRI but MRI was of spine. Was told by my orthopedic dr I had a pinched nerve in my spine and the nerve that is pinched is responsible for that area. I was told that due to the weight loss, my body is no more 'compressed' and that there is less 'cushion' to absorb the daily bangs of living now. I don't know if this is the settling answer for me but it's been over 7 mos of this pain and tests and more Dr's than I ever want to see again. There seems to be some relief when I take a muscle relaxer like Amtrix/Flexeril (not sure how to spell it) and Valium and if I keep up on taking a vegetable laxative every day. But the Dr wants to inject whatever into the spaces of my vertebra to cushion the area the nerve is pinched. I don't know about messing with my spine. This is something I can not live with so I have been going to chiropractor before I go digging in my back. Also, I have GREAT insurance. My sleeve surgery cost me nothing and these Dr visits are all just $10 copay so I also feel like there is a hidden agenda sometimes to milk my insurance and rush me to do this and that. That's where I am at. Maybe this will help someone? highest weight 309 sx weight 252 current weight 138 goal 110 -

Hey! Did you think you mught be gaining muscle to replace the fat your losing? I was all in working out but once I focused on just cardio for 2 months I lost 37lbs!BACK ON TRACK! And that was after a 3 month stall that ALMOST had me back to emotional eating...paging Dr. Little Debbie...I had to stop the other exercises. I have an in ground pool so swimming laps were soooooo helpful. Don't get bent. It's still all new for your head, body and energy to embrace so balance them all, find your peace and don't stress. You are already on the better path. Sometimes it looks like a mountain when it's just a little bump! Sent from my LG-H631 using BariatricPal mobile app

Old clothes? What did you do?
GourmetH20 replied to AZBlackhawk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
First congratulations on your loss! This is going to get better and better in the months to come. I was afraid to throw out my old clothing but now I look for stuff to let go of and have been enjoying shopping for new items. I actually cried when I realized that NOTHING in the 'old go to plus size store' didn't fit me. NOTHING!!! Totally emotional over that break up. I was taking my clothing for a while cause I can sew but now, well I've embraced the shopper in me and amaze myself when I fit into a regular medium or large. My head is slowly catching up to my body. My eyes are adjusting too! So go shopping and buy a pairs of jeans to gwt u through this and a few tops and enjoy your accomplishment!!!!!!! YOU DESERVE IT! And donate your clothes! Bahhhbye old you[emoji111] Sent from my LG-H631 using BariatricPal mobile app -

So as I am progressively losing weight, I notice how much clothing I can't alter regardless of how skilled my sewing is. Some things were just too big and I don't want to toss them into the bins nor do I really want to keep posting lots of this or that size to sell. SO I thought, if there were people going through this as well, maybe we can set up a clothing exchange for those who really don't have the money to go shopping for every size they drop? I have so much stuff that I would rather see go to someone and then pass it along. Anyone interested? Maybe just pay for shipping and $2 an item this way we all help eachother or something like that. Not trying to gey rich, just hoping to help out. I am currently a size 16/18, 213 lbs...big butt. I have clothing up to size 26. Shirts, jeans, dresses, slacks and even bras that I have never worn. If anyone is interested in starting a swap, we can email pics and work out details but let's keep it a blessing to others! Sometimes I just need a pair of jeans for a few weeks to by... Hope this catches on! HW 309 SW 267 CW 213 SX date 10/28/16 Danielle Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone else do this (chew food for taste)
GourmetH20 replied to Gman1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I had to go thru the "break up" with food and was not prepared for it. I did crew n spit but I had to in order to get those issues with food out of my system. The taste of this or the crunch of that...it was what I had to do. Now self righteous people or the finger pointers or the ""I'm better than you but will only say some clever medical passive aggressive comment" will all be against this but YOU DO WHAT YOU NEED TO. It's your path your journey and if you need to chew n spit, do it. Don't make it a habbit. Don't depend on it to get by but do what you need to do and then move on. I did. I was in a rough place those few weeks post op. And now I am 3 mos post op, over 50 lbs down and eating healthy. You will get to where you need to be just be careful. Ice pops work wonders n sugar free slurpees hit the spot too! Best to you! ???????????????????? Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App -

I used to say, when I was at my heaviest, that I finally look how I felt all my life. Even when I was in the Army running 5 miles a day and in top condition at 120lbs I still felt like I looked like I was 309 lbs. The mirror shows you what you feel in your heart until you are ready to change you from the inside out. I had to change how I felt about me and not take peoples comments or ridicule as my own. I know I am 70 more lbs to my goal of 140 but I feel fantastic and sexier than when I was 120 lbs! Self esteem, fresh food and exercise work wonders! This site has such great support too! More power to you for taking the step to get YOU and YOUR life back! Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

I LOVE my multivitamin!! It's liquid and I take it with Crystal Lite fruit punch and it tastes great. I got 3, 32oz bottles from Puritans Pride. It was buy 1 get 2 free which ends today but I also did a coupon code search and got 20% off. Its called BiOraganic Life fruit flavored. Has EVERYTHING we need and then some. I will put it in my morning smoothies or just with juice. My son takes it as well. Perfect for my sleeve! Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

Would You Now Date Someone Over Weight?
GourmetH20 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A friend of mine made a comment saying "Once peple lose weight and get hot they won't date overweight people". As to say that lack of confidence keeps overweight people with overweight people or we/they have less standards in dating. I was upset by this. But it got me thinking..... I was not always overweight. My gain was during my adult years after childbirth. I had served my country and kept my body in shape. But after the birth of my son, I maintained a steady 240 lbs for about 10 years. However, even before that I always liked guys/girls with fuller figures or a "yummy tummy". I don't think that will change once I reach a healthier weight and get back in shape but I wonder if that would change for other people? Would you only want to date someone who was more fit or not on the heavier side? Aside from the health and/or food issues, if there were any, what else would be factors in the decision of NOT dating someone overweight? Just interested... I did crew food and spit it out. I know it wasn't the right thing to do but I NEEDED TO. I am a food junkie. I am a recovering addict. So I needed to do what would get me by. I never swallowed or tried to eat anything but just the chewing and the flavor helped me. I am not suggesting this but letting you know how bad my addiction was/is and that we all struggle. It's alot at once. The pain, recovery, no food, freaking out over your decision...but it gets better. Just keep thinking of how hot you're guna be this summer and go buy a new bathing suit and hang it up so you see it every day! Inspiration! Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

I'm 15 days post op and the first week I thought I waz losing my mind. Really like straight up effn crazy. Plus I got out on Halloween so there was candy all over the place. Yes I did suck some chocolate which I know was wrong but like I posted in other topics, it's like going through withdrawal/detox/rehab all at once. I cried and was in pain and even regretted the surgery. BUT the 2nd week....and it gets better. I had some mashed potatoes and it was a life saver. Even a little Protein shake and it took the edge off. But today I went through my closet and holy sheet, I fit into stuff that I hadn't in like 2 years!....then this saying came ro mind, "Anything worth working for is worth having". I worked for this little bit and I have it. I know it will get better and I know I can do it. And SO CAN YOU! Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

I totally understand. I'm having better days now (15 days post op) but it's like going withdrawal/rehab/detox all at once. I drink alot of Water and startwd shakes but I do have a problem with sugar amd it feels like I'm breaking up with food. It's a slow and long process but it helps to talk about it. OMG I so agree. I was more worried about the sugery and realize now the surgery was the easy part! Post op is like food withdrawal, detox and rehab all at once. I keep saying never again but like hello...How could I do this again??? I will say I pulled out some clothes that were in the area of the closet called "save just in case i lose weight one day" and HOLY CRIPES the stuff fits! This is the first time I feel like maybe, just maybe I made the right decision. This is by far the hardest thing I've ever done and I served in the Army for a long time. Probably because we have to face ourselves, and deal with ourselves with this surgery and that is the hardest thing to do.Sleeved 10/28/16 SW 263 CW 237 Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

I tried to go back 5 days after and my body still needed to relax. Get plenty of sleep. Well, that's what helped me. 2 weeks post op now. Down 28 lbs. Been in and out of work but hopefully I'll be back full time next week. I have a desk job and with the gas and digestive issues, I don't feel so comfy ysing the office bathroom! Good luck!
