Hmmm... I don't think I can be so harsh.... BUT what I want you to think about is how lucky you are to have the band... I am still waiting and let me tell you this waiting game is not fun... I would LOVE to have the band today, I would love to not have gotten so upset this week getting ready for work because I couldn't find anything to cover my growing hips, tummy and thighs... I wish I was in your spot and I promise I wouldn't take it for granted... I don't think you should either! Do you know how many people are wishing they were in your shoes right now??? Pull it together if not for you, but for all of us who wish we were ten pounds away from our goal! Be our inspiration, be your own inspiration... You made it this far, why give up now! You can do it! Suck it up and give it all you have got... You have the tool, you have us as support, now suck it up and give it your best shot! Shannon:w00t:

My doc says no caffeine or carbonation because it irritates the stomach. I'm am going to have the hardest time giving up my diet coke... Ugh!
-
My doctor says the same thing as mentioned above... Once you start losing weight and you can begin to see your port sticking out, they will replace it with a low profile port so that it is now visible... As far as anything sticking out.... NOT NORMAL. Definitely have it looked at.

Lana24 you are too funny! I think I have one of those "machines" too! ha ha ha

WELCOME! I too am waiting to be banded! Looking at a May surgery date! This is really a great place to come for everything! I haven't once not found an answer to my questions!

Hello, I'm really having a bad morning today... I'm totally disgusted with how I look and how I feel... I spoke to the nurse practitioner at the hospital I'm planning to get the surgery done at and she said if all goes well, it looks like a surgery day in mid to late May... I know I should be thrilled with that and most of the time I am, but today I just feel like I can't wait that long... I had the worst time trying to find clothes to fit me today... My pants were tight, my shirts suddenly got shorter or wait is it because I'm getting rounder??? I feel like spring is right around the corner and I'm just not prepared for less layers and more skin... Sorry if I'm ranting or sound like Ihave the poor me's but it's just hard waiting it out when you know you are ready now. Thanks for listening, Shannon

Thanks Megan... I know you are right... Sometimes it's just hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel... I started really watching what I was eating yesterday and plan to stay on track until my sugery. My doctor does not require a pre-op diet, but instead requires that you lose 5% of your weight prior to surgery.

Thanks everyone for your kind and uplifting responses... I am a little bit better now that I'm busy at work and thinking of other things... OKay so this is really embarassing but the kicker this morning was when my under shirt rolled up over my tummy and my undies rolled under it! LOL How bad is that??? Well, thanks again... I knew I would find comfort here! Smiles, Shannon

I'm in the middle of the process too... My first seminiar was the very end of February... After trying to schedule everything and wait for appointments... It's going to be around 3 months... I'm hoping for an early to mid May surgery! Good Luck, Shannon

Do/Did they weigh you with clothes on?
Rascal76 replied to BabyNicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was under the 40 mark too... I was nervous about making it, but I did... I got weighed with clothes on and shoes off... I wore heavy jeans, a sweater and a blazer... and I have to admit... I did wear 6lbs of anke weights and gained 5lbs before the visit! Thank God I didn't get caught... Now I have to lose the 5lbs plus two more... It's crazy what we have to do, but I know it will be worth it! -
Hello, I have actually had Mesotherapy! I expected much better results... I got it done thinking it would be great in shrinking the fat cells on my stomach and flatten it out... I think it made it smoother, but after 5 sessions maybe 2 inches.... and a whopping $1600 bucks! I say don't do it! There were a few other people that did see results, but that was with serious diet and exercise and I'm guessing it was the diet and exercising that made the difference... not the shots! Best of Luck, Shannon

A book like that would be perfect! Count me in!

OOPS I forgot to add now you need to post a new pic of you and your new outfits!
-
That is just fantastic! I forget what it's like to shop in the misses sizes! And I know it's tough to talk about with others, but if they are your friends they will listen and support you ever step of the way! It is a huge milestone CONGRATULATIONS!

Surgery Tomorrow AAAHHH
Rascal76 replied to cmcallister2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG! What I wouldn't give for an appointment tomorrow!!! I say go for it and never look back! I have not been banded yet, but am hoping for an end of April surgery date! I know you scared, but from what I read it is well worth it... It's a new beginning! Congrats and Good Luck Tomorrow! Best, Shannon -
I agree... I wish this process could get moving a little faster! I have all my appointments set up... both the testing at the hospital and the nutrionist are set up for a week from Friday, my last support group meeting is next week. Then I have to wait a week then another nutrition class and then the following week, the surgeon and the week after that the mental health counsellor.... Ugh... I wish I could put appointments together! Right now my last appointment is April 18th... after that insurance approval, which is probably a week... so I think that probably puts me into May for suregery! That's assuming all goes well! I so wish I could speed this up, but I guess I have been overweight for so long, what's another two months! Good Luck with everything and keep me posted on your journey! Shannon

how long do you wait for a surgery date
Rascal76 replied to willow_20001460's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I have BCBS of New England... I have to attend 3 support group meetings, meet with the nutrionist (2x's), lose 5% of my body weight before surgery, meet with the surgeon and psychiatrist and agree to go to at least 1 support group meeting per month for a year... Ugh... Lots of work, but I know it will be worth it! My last appointment is April 17th.. I'm hoping to get a surgery date of early/mid May! Good LUck! -
how long do you wait for a surgery date
Rascal76 replied to willow_20001460's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was told the whole process could take any where between two and three months...(depending how quickly they can schedule everything). The nurse I spoke with said that BCBS typically gets back to you within a week. Good Luck! -
Hi, I have heard some people mention a breathing tube while they are under anesthesia... is that true? If so why? Just curious. Thanks, Shannon:huh2:
-
Thanks everyone! I don't think it scares me... not yet any way... Still in the process of going to all my appointments so I don't have a surgery date... I can't wait for the call... My last appointment is with the surgeon on April 15th... after that they can put in for a claim for insurance... How long do you think it will take to get a surgery date??? I'm guessing it won't be until mid-May... sound about right? Smiles, Shannon

Goodbye Bandster Hell - HELLO FIRST FILL
Rascal76 replied to tinaf's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not been banded yet, but I'm on my way and at the class I went to last night they said you can get your first fill at 6 weeks... 90 days seems really long! I don't know why the times vary so much... -
Sweet Eaters.... Lap Band?
Rascal76 replied to Rascal76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks to everyone who wrote to me! I went to my first meeting and to my surprise she didn't try to get me to switch my mind! I am so excited... I made all of my appointments (nutritionist, shrink, surgeon, lab work, etc.) Hooray! I'm hoping to get a surgery date in early May! Keep your fingers crossed!:huh2:
