  1. Any idea why? Could it be period-related? I always gain a pound or two around my period, then lose it again. Be sure you're drinking plenty of water. Sent from my LG-LS777 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Why is it a secret?

You've said it perfectly. Thank you so much. We just don't have enough time in our days to cater to the ignorant or the curious. Sent from my LG-LS777 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Why is it a secret?

I control my narrative by refusing to quench the uncontrollable urge some people have to know things that don't affect them in the least. If it bothers people to not know, good. Your answer implies that we should care more about what others think than maintaining our own sense of privacy and self. I am visibly handicapped (totally unrelated to WLS). Those who need to know the whys and hows, do. Those who don't are free to wonder. If someone thinks I'm sick on top everything else, that's okay. If they are nosy and "need" an answer, they're going to be deeply disappointed. I've learned over the years not to answer questions about "what's wrong". I'm not here to make anyone feel better or to act as an example, or to be the "noble" handicapped person. If I had a nickel for every time someone said I was "brave" for doing everyday stuff, I could retire. [emoji4] Ultimately, none of their "concern" makes my life (or theirs) any better. Answering inane questions about my weight, my handicap, or any other exterior condition wastes my time and doesn't fix anything. I'm still handicapped either way. Why is it a secret?

Why is it any of anyone else's business? Why would they care, and why would I want their input? Honestly, I don't want anyone's opinions, comments, or questions. Whether they like it or not should have no bearing on my decision making. My health, my body, my choice. As an adult, I don't need to justify or explain my actions to anyone. 5. I didn't get a binder. I'm 6 months post-op (or will be in 2 days) and down 92 pounds. I've ordered one, though, and here's why: my back goes through periods of extreme pain as my body adjusts to weight loss. Hold onto your binders. They are supposed to help with the back ache. 6. Mine (above) is an update - after all on the bills came in. Sent from my LG-LS777 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. My surgeon was $12,000.00 The psychiatrist visit was $100.00 out of pocket. The nutritionist visit was $150.00 out of pocket. Seven monthly doctor's visits to my GP were $20.00 each = $140.00 out of pocket. The hospital bill, including the anesthesiologist was $78.000.00 and change. A few hundred for bloodwork out of pocket. So... around $91,00.00 total. My portion was $885.00 if I recall correctly, after insurance (May, 2017). Just FYI, my monthly vitamin bill is around $45.00 for multi-vitamins, calcium, B-vitamins, and Biotin, Vitamin D, and Vitamin C. Other than protein powder or drinks at first, vitamins will be a necessary, ongoing cost. Sent from my LG-LS777 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I was sleeved on May 18th. I'm down 67 pounds, one pound from One-derland. Today I am wearing a large shirt, down from a 3x. It's not tight at all. It feels good, but different to be this size. I'm so happy that I did this! Will I ever get used to being smaller? =^..^=
  9. Mine was out of the ordinary, since I spent 4 days in the hospital due to complications caused by underlying conditions. My hospital bill was just over $67,000.00. My surgeon's bill was $14,000.00. So, just over $81,000.00. My portion was $850.00 and change with insurance, split about evenly between the hospital and surgeon before my surgery date. I have a $1,000.00 annual deductable that I met when I paid the $850.00. =^..^=

  13. Hi. I'm ten days out after a VGS. I spent 4 days in the hospital due to complications. My lungs were congested at first, due to an underlying lung/blood disorder. After that, my blood sugar fell through the floor and I had to drink juice and eat glucose paste to bring it up. I was pre-diabetic, almost type-2 diabetic. All that time, I was on an IV with lactated ringers (regular IV drip to hydrate). On Thursday, my 8th day, I was supposed to start the puréed/mushy food stage, which would last for 2 weeks. I cannot get food down because it hurts so much and am having trouble getting my protein shakes down, too. I should be eating 3 a day, and have trouble with one. I know what I should be eating, but I'm not sue how much - is a tablespoon okay 10 days out? I'm not hungry, but feel as though I should follow the plan given. It's almost impossible to get the shakes down. How can I overcome this? Thank you so much! My HW was 269 My SW was 244 My CW is 230, I think (scale is wonky) =^..^=
