protein drinks for someone 3 months post-op
Ssze1109 replied to RussT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will have to try a few to see what you like and more importantly what you can tolerate. I drank premiere pre op but they make me nauseous now. I drink EAS advant edge or GNC lean shake if I drink any at all ( which is very rare now) surgery was Nov 9th. I wouldn't buy a whole lot until you know if you like them Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

This s*!t is about to get serious
Ssze1109 replied to mt1999's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it!!! Think of everything you've been thru. In 3 months do you want to weigh the same or do you want to lose weight? Because time is passing despite the choice you make. What have you been doing right and what have you been doing wrong? What changed for you? What happened that made you start drinking bad coffee? I'm assuming sweetened calorie filled coffee?? What do you need from us to help you along? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just because someone is "new" doesn't mean they give bad advice or know nothing. Just because someone is a "vet" doesn't mean they know everything and give the right advice. There are so many different reasons why people are successful or why they lost weight and kept it off. One size does not fit all. For example, many eat low carb and are doing great. While others eat carbs and are successful too. My Dr recommends tons of vegetables after the first few months in addition to nuts, seeds, and Beans with no artificial sweeteners and limited dairy (which is a staple for most of us post op) For some that would be unheard of. Every Dr and every person have different needs and programs. While I'm sure many appreciate and welcome successful people's opinions, the world is not coming to an end and there will be others with good, sound advice. Give people a chance. Let it go. There are still some great vets with great advice around. There are even newbies with great advice! Yes there are many that give good and bad advice. Just like many Drs have drastically different plans and advice. Just be kind. You never know what that person is going thru. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Dr Matthew Weiner Excellent information
Ssze1109 replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We have another topic going about him too. He is my Dr. He is excellent and just as nice in person as his videos. He is so knowledgeable and does take the time to listen. His advice is different than most but if you think about it we really do need all the vegetables for health and antioxidants for healing. I am so grateful that I found him! Sorry you had so many complications. Hopefully this year will be great for you. I think with his videos and book you will be successful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Self pay: unexpected bills
Ssze1109 replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my EGD done I got 2 separate bills from the anesthesiologist AND a nurse anesthetist since they were both present during that test. Now isn't that wrong?! Two separate bills from 2 separate people in addition to the normal bills from the Dr, the hospital, the lab, and the person reading the lab! This was all just for the EGD that I was out for a total of probably 5 minutes for. I see why people go to Mexico for their surgery now. So much cheaper Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Motivation or lack there of
Ssze1109 replied to dominyks_mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try looking at "tone it up" YouTube videos. The 2 girls Karena and Katrina had a tv show before. They have simple routines you can do at home. Sometimes I think we feel we have to do it all and do it long to make a difference. But just start small and be successful at that then it will motivate you to do more. I think we've all been there. Hang in there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Self pay: unexpected bills
Ssze1109 replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a bill for both too. I called and the anesthesia was a mistake bill so call them first as it probably(and should have been) covered. The labs however were not covered and I don't agree with that. Actually I got 2 lab bills. One was for the lab specimen of the stomach and the other was from the person reading the lab results. Ridiculous isn't it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Dr Matthew Weiner's Pound of Cure diet
Ssze1109 replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YES!! He is my Dr. he did my surgery. He has tons of successful patients with a pound of cure. I love that he stresses fruits, vegetables, nuts , seeds and Beans. I think his YouTube videos should be mandatory for pre and post op. He really stresses no processed food. He does allow animal Protein but says to eat a pound of vegetables a day. He really is top notch in this field and is a great, caring Dr. He listens, has great bedside manner and really teaches you about nutrition not just losing weight. protein shake intolerance
Ssze1109 replied to maebme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. My Dr said many people have difficulty with eggs., especially scrambled. Try poached first then if not tolerated come back to it later. I still cannot drink Protein shakes. They make me sick to my stomach. Try protein Water, different shakes or unflavored Protein powder. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Questions for vets: Exercise and weight loss
Ssze1109 replied to Ruth1ess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@JamieLogical That is why I linked that article in my post . Some people do think it weighs more and don't know the difference. Some have no knowledge of medical info just from not being exposed to it. I have talked to people and also have patients that don't want to "exercise" for fear of gaining weight from "muscle weighing more than fat". They fear follow up visits with Drs for fear of failure if they are not losing weight. The article explains it in simple terms to put the fear aside of gaining weight from muscle. Questions for vets: Exercise and weight loss
Ssze1109 replied to Ruth1ess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://onemorebite-weightloss.com/muscle-to-fat.html Muscle does not weigh more than fat. 5 lbs of muscle and 5 lbs of fat weight 5lbs. BUT fat takes up less space. So you will be losing the bumpy fat and replacing with smaller, leaner muscles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Getting Discouraged
Ssze1109 replied to southernmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
43lbs is a lot of weight since 11/18. You are doing great! Try to focus on some non scale victories(NSV) or look how your clothes are fitting. You are doing a lot of exercise so you need some carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
