Can coughing, sneezing, etc be dangerous?
LiseSeattle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded about 4 days ago. Whenever I cough, sneeze, hiccup, laugh (not doing much of that the past week), yawn, etc my stomach hurts...specifically the port side. Can doing any of these things have a negative impact on the port...such as pull a stitch? I'm afraid to clear my throat! Ugh...eeek. Even when I go to the bathroom and "push" I can feel it on my side and I'm all paranoid. Anyone else going/gone through this? Lise -
10cc band - how many cc's until restriction?
LiseSeattle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all of you beautiful (and handsome) bandsters! Question for those of you who have a 10cc band. How many cc's did you have put in until you were at restriction...and not just a little restriction - but "wow - i now know what restriction really means" restriction? I just had my 3rd fill and am at 6.5cc's on my 10cc band and do not yet feel like I'm in the "green". I know everyone is different but just looking to get some feedback from others. Thanks in advance. Lise the Loser Lise The Loser’s Weblog -
It's been about a year and 3 months since my lap-band...and I'm so proud to say I'm down 96 lbs! I've posted some photos for inspiration to those who are just starting out on the journey. It can be done!!! I am proof. :blushing:

Thanks, LibbyJane!!!

Took me a year and 3 months to lose 98 lbs...and I'm at 9.8cc's in a 10 cc band. I must have had at least 15 fills!!!

Surgery tomorrow and OMG ... panic setting in

I felt the same way - but this is the best decision you'll ever make. Just think a/b how you'll feel a year from now!!! -

it's not bad...just an annoying roll of excess skin that i want GONE!!! When I was at my high weight, i would have told myself that at 131 i would be sporting a bikini everyday! i guess once you get there you still look at yourself w/ a critical eye!

Thanks Alvey! Actually - no plastic surgery...YET! I do desperately need a tummy tuck. Check my blog in about 3 weeks (link in my signature below). I'll be posting photos from a trip to cancun i'm taking in a few days. You'll see that my stomach is definitely NOT flat...and without a bra, my breasts hang down to my waist (i have a really good bra that keeps my breasts looking very perky)! I am really good at finding clothes that cover things up. My stomach has this flap of skin that would make it impossible for me to wear a bikini...or at least wear one without making it obvious that I lost a ton of weight and have excess skin. I'm actually looking for recommendations on good plastic surgeons - considering Mexico...so if you have heard of any, please let me know! In this picture you can kind of see the flap of skin in my belly area...but then again, i'm pretty good at finding clothes that cover it up!

Thanks!!! I'm so glad that it can give you the boost you needed! I went through several weepy moments on my Quest to where I am now - but without the band, I would have given up. You will get to where I am - just stick with it and know a year from now you will be as happy as I am!!!

Why thank you!!! I'm 5'6'' and my exercise routine was/is non-existent. Bad...but I just HATE exercising. :blushing: As far as eating, my band is REALLY tight - which is how I like it. About 9.6 cc's in a 10 cc band. So I eat a lot of Protein & Soups...but really don't take in more than 800 calories a day. I always have about 1/2 a cup of ice cream at night b/c I can't go without it! I'm probably not the "role model" lap-bander b/c I eat/drink a lot of liquids and not as many solids as I should...and I eat a bunch of "bad foods" and then spit them out before swallowing into a napkin...so I can get the flavor but not have to deal w/ pb-ing. Little "tricks" that keep me sane. Give me a shout next time you are in WA - we should grab coffee!

I’ve thought I would post a before and after shot of me to show you the difference in my face from pre-banding to now. The pre-shot was taken on the morning of my surgery day…driving to get banded! The current shot was taken a few days ago. I can definitely notice a difference in my chin. Click on the shots to see them in full size! Pretty Darned Tight, Too Tight?
LiseSeattle replied to ssdown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can't eat solids, that's a problem. The band isn't supposed to restrict you from eating solids - just supposed to limit the amount you eat. i would definitely get an unfill. -
for me, drinking was never a problem...i could drink a full slimfast shake no problem even 3 days post-op. now that i'm at restriction, i can do half a shake.

How long for a PB?
LiseSeattle replied to Deb2GetFit69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine started after my 4th fill and typically happen right after i eat or when I'm eating and I know it's going to happen...it's like...oooh no - why did i eat that extra bite...or why did i eat that cheese. -
by the way - the 2 foods you mentioned (cheese and cold meat) definitely are ones that always make me PB!!
