Stupid question???
LiseSeattle replied to Paula Maglica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Errrr...no. No stomach flu. I know some folks get a bit sick to their stomach (I didn't) but I highly doubt the two are related at all. -
I Got My Band Date! Yeaaaaaaaa!
LiseSeattle replied to gonnaluz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! And yes - of course you'll do fine on your post - op! -
The two are not related. I mean - I'm sure people with bands get all sorts of other medical problems that are not related to the band...that's just life - nothing to do with the band.

i know what you mean - i felt like that blueberry girl from willy wonka about to pop! but the gas goes away the more you walk...i felt like an old woman walking around the neighborhood holding on to my husband and walking about a block in 30 minutes...but i swear - walking totally helps the gas! -

Hello from Mukilteo, WA
LiseSeattle replied to mamamia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
we can be your family support! where did you get banded? i love mukilteo - i go there often when i take the ferry to whidbey for vacation!!! -
welcome and congrats! i'm from seattle - so glad you found the site!!!
-
welcome, T! I was a self-pay, but you can eat the way you are supposed to if you really want this. the lap band is there to help you - it's amazing!
-
port pain is completely normal after banding. mine lasted about 2 and a half weeks or so. it is worse when twisting, laughing, burping, etc. it will go down as time goes by.
-
i wouldn't be too hard on youself. you have yet to have a fill or restriction. i'm in the same spot (banded on 3/4 and first fill is not for another week). this is the reason we are getting banded - b/c we have trouble with food. the purpose of the band is to help us with that - but until it does its job (restriction which comes with fills), we are only supposed to be "taking care of the band" ... not losing weight at this stage.
-
my aha moment....well, it hurt to just "live"! it hurt to stand up, people started asking me if i had back problems...all i wanted to do was get in bed and sleep all day. basically, everything hurt. i knew i had to make a change.

Sorry this is gross....Is anybody else pooping more??
LiseSeattle replied to beachbum0519's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

i would go bonkers without my morning, afternoon and night coffee! i drink it...it's my vice!!!
-

in my head I know...
LiseSeattle replied to spiffy86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's hard right after banding b/c you are all swollen, bloated and cut up. but give it a couple weeks - you will realize this is the best thing you've ever done for yourself! -
Pre-Band Eating Habits? HELP!
LiseSeattle replied to southerngirltx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
screw other people. i was eating whatever i wanted before surgery...until 3 days before and did the slimfast thing and lost 4 lbs which was enough for my doc. the reason you are getting the band is because you have trouble controlling what you eat. you don't have the band yet - so you still have problems controlling what you eat. I did. i didn't beat myself up over it. i was happy i made the decision to take a huge step in the right direction! -
OMG!! Just ate 5 french fries and a bite of fish
LiseSeattle replied to Sapphire904's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm 2 and a half weeks post op and I eat EVERYTHING except for bread, pasta and rice. doc told me that as long as i chew really well, then nothing is off limits after 2 weeks as long as it agrees with me. I wouldn't worry - just try to stick to healthy food. -
another port question
LiseSeattle replied to teebutterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at 5 days my stomach was too swollen and bloated from surgery - took me about 2 weeks from surgery to be able to feel my port...and I have to really push down on the stomach to feel it. try laying down and lifting your legs up - that's what my doc said to do and it helps to "lift" the port and makes it easier to feel.
