  1. I took milk of magnesia for about 2 weeks after banding...until i discovered benefiber. i think that because of all of the additional protein i've been having a hard time with bm's...but the benefiber has been a lifesaver!
  2. i don't have kids...but 2 20lb dogs. I didn't feel "good" about lifting them until 2 weeks out - but at that point I was a lifting machine! i think it's all about what works for you and what your doc says is right.

    The Date Has Been Set!!!

Congrats to you! This is the best decision you will ever make!
  4. Hasn't had any impact on me - except I talk about my banding non-stop which is probably going to get a bit annoying after a while. And when I lose more weight I'm sure I'll try to get everyone to touch my port "bump"...but other than that, no difference.

    testing my tracker

looks great - and nice weight loss!
  9. i can easily do a whole shake...no problems here. i'm beginning to wonder if they really put a band in me or if i'm some odd mental test subject to see if "thinking" you have a band will work just as well as having the band. hmmmm....

How long were you out of work?

surgery was 40 minutes - spent about an hour in post-op and then was bored so asked if i could go home and get on the computer. stayed out of work for a week and going back actually really helped get me moving and helped with my recover (gas).

  13. No worries! Insurance didn't deny me - I never applied because I "knew" I would be denied and I didn't want to go through the stress of 6 months of waiting just to be denied. My BMI was 38 and I had no health problems (no diabetes, no sleep problems...pretty healthy except for the weight). But - I didn't want to wait 5 years and develop all of the health problems and be even heavier! Plus, I didn't want to wait just to be denied. It was worth the $$$ to not go through all of that. Since I was self-pay, everything is covered (all fills, office visits, etc) for a year for the 17.5K. I was just banded 3.5 weeks ago so i haven't had my first fill yet - but all set for monday to be fill number 1!
  14. dear lord! why did you have to get your port replaced? how long have you had your band? that's really too bad...what a bundle of bills you must have! ugh!
  15. in seattle and paid 17.5K. worth every cent!

8 days post op and wondering...

took me about a week and a half to feel "decent" and about 2 weeks for the pain to ease up. it's totally normal. you are totally normal!
  19. i'm nervous about getting my fill and not having restriction...but i'm prepared to wait for at least several fills before i'm in my sweet spot!
  20. sometimes i cheat and have a few sips...but most of the time i'm good.

    First Week Weightloss

i went up 4 lbs after surgery...but they came off after a few days. everyone is different and surgery will impact everyone differently. just follow the doctors orders and try to think of it as a long term goal v. everyday weight loss ... it's hard - but the real truth will be if we can lose the weight and keep it off years from now!
  23. i'm in the same situation - about 3 weeks out since banding. just keep eating like the doc said and know that nothing is going to happen overnight. some weeks you will lose, some you will not, some you might even go up. it's a change in lifestyle and know that right now is a time for healing - not losing. just wait for your fills and restriction - then, hopefully, we will not be thinking about food - and eating to live, not living to eat!
  24. just remember that now is the time for recovery - not weight loss. i know it's hard. i'm 3 weeks out and having a hard time remembering that, as well. look forward to your fills and all of the restriction that will come along with them!
