  1. i'm 5 weeks out, have had 3 fills (6.5cc's in a 10cc band) and i have no restriction, always hungry - no pb-ing...nada. I can eat just about anything - all Proteins including steak. I have not yet tested Pasta, rice or bread but yesterday I went out for thai and ate an entire order of red curry chicken and two spring rolls with no problem and afterwards was still hungry so had a few pieces of sugarfree candy and was STILL hungry!!! i really wonder if i got a "dud" band...but then I have hope that "maybe" my next fill will put me at restriction. i really am a bit scared that i'll max out my band and not feel restriction and there goes $17.5K (self-pay) down the drain. Ugh. Does everyone go through this? I keep reading about folks who have restriction at 3 or 4cc's in their 10cc band. I am so jealous!
  2. Definitely agree with you on this one! I tell people that I "want" to eat more - but the band restricts me from doing that. At times it's hard because the food tastes/smells so good - but the band is definitely doing its job - because it will not allow me to eat more. The great thing is that after about 20 minutes, I realize that I am actually full...and had I eaten more, I would have been eating beyond my full-point.
  3. you are all soooooo kind! Thank you for your kind words - they have made my day - month - year!!!

I'm 5'5'' and a half! My goal weight is 140. not sure if this is normal...but it works for me!
  5. Thank you everyone!!! I am beginning to feel wonderful and I know it will only get better from here!!!

    I'm Banded!!

    congrats and keep us posted!
  9. ooh yes- i was there with you. the gas definitely went away after about a week. then it's all smooth sailing!
  10. I was banded march 4th. I've lost 25 lbs since surgery - but I'm super happy about the loss. I think this is amazing considering had I not gotten the band I would have lost nothing! I have restriction, I get full after a few bites...however, before restriction I was definitely in the same boat - a bit frustrated...a bit depressed. I think it takes time and effort - the band will not stop me from eating ice cream - but it does motivate me not to!
  11. I was able to drive 2 days after surgery (after I was off the pain meds).
  12. My fill status was as follows: (all in a 10cc band) Surgery: 3ccs (no restriction) 4 weeks post-op: +2cc (no restriction) 5 weeks post-op: +0.5cc (no restriction) 5.5 weeks post-op: +0.5cc (no restriction) 6 weeks post-op: 0.75cc (yeahhh - restriction) So finally I'm at restriction at 6.75ccs in my 10 cc band!
  14. For me it was about 6 weeks post-op and several fills (now at 6.75ccs in a 10cc band).
  15. Fantastic news!!! Isn't it weird how some people take so much less to feel restriction than others? I mean I'm at like double the ccs as you and that's what i needed to get to restriction! by the way - thank you for the kind words on my blog!!!
  16. Ahhh - get used to the stalls! I have had a pattern of 4-5 days of nothing, then all of a sudden 2 pounds down...then another couple days of nothing. I'm becoming much better with dealing with the stalls because I know that if I just stick with it, the pounds will drop after a few days. It looks like you are following the same pattern! See my fitday chart...lots of stalls - but then drops!

What was YOUR Moment of decision?

Kelin - I could practically write the same post exactly - it's precisely why I decided to get surgery. Back pain (everyone was asking me if I had back problems b/c I was always leaning on things when standing)...never wanting to go out and do anything...whenever I would be out people would move out of my way...i felt like a freak.

My Turn - Thursday April 17th

Hi! I was banded at NWWLS by Dr Montgomery! Please let me know how you are doing. I started a blog all about my experience (you can see it via the link below in my sig). Can't wait to hear about your experience - mine was fantastic!

    Have a personal question

If you do want to purchase some, I did find these online. Personally, I was able to wipe my bum by going around via the "backside" v. the front - but I will admit it was a bit painful for the first week after surgery.

    Post Op Questions

I actually started doing slimfast the day I came home from the hospital - along with yogurt. My doc said it was fine. I came up with my slim-fast-accino recipe on day 2! I'm still having them because they are my replacement for icecream! Just like a Frappuccino! Lise The Loser’s Weblog

    Does it hurt?

For me, it was a breeze - probably because I was expecting so much worse. The worst part was the IV needle. But - I was out of the hospital and on the computer within 2 hours after I left the hospital. the only pain I had was when I was laying down and needed to sit up, slight pain when burping, laughing, sneezing - anything that required use of my stomach muscles (which I didn't know I had until surgery). All of the pain was completely gone after about 7 days. You can read about my entire experience via my blog (link below in my sig).
