    Sh*t's about to get real!

For the entire nine months that I've been doing my program, I kept saying "IF I decide to do the surgery...". And then last week I went in for my pre admission appointment, and had the realization that this is really happening and I am going through with it. i think it's really good for us to note our fears and concerns, and to write about WHY we are having the surgery. It will really help us in those first few weeks after surgery when we start having regrets.

    Liver Shrinking Diet

Two weeks long. Three protein shakes a day, one protein bar OR Greek yogurt, and one meal of 4 ounces lean meat/chicken, two small pieces of fruit, and as many non-starchy vegetables as I want. I start Monday!
  14. I have only been able to go to a few of the support group meetings offered through my bariatric program. I might not sure whether they were helpful. I didn't feel like I connected with anybody, but I am going to start going more regularly after my surgery. Hopefully I will connect with people then . I love the online support that I get here. I do think both are useful!
  15. Are there any other programs near you? If you need to go back to the original surgeon, there's no need to be embarrassed. Trust me, you are not the only lapband patient for whom the lapband didn't work. I was in the same position, where I was too ashamed to go back to my surgeon after I failed. I sucked up my pride and went to her and asked to have the band removed. She didn't even flinch. She just said that it obviously hasn't helped me, and it was time for it to Come out. For my sleeve surgery, I went to a different program, one that is closer to my house Around here, most surgeons seem to understand that the lapband didn't live up to its promises, and very few of them are even doing the surgery any more, since they want their patients to be successful . hang in there. You'll figure it all out!

Band to sleeve success stories, please.

I am hoping that my body reset itself or something. I didn't lose more than 15 pounds with the lapband. I never had that wls shock that caused weight loss, so I am really hoping it will happen this time!

    Approved!!!!!!!

Congratulations! There's a support group on here for those of us having surgery in September! https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1273-september-2017-sleevers/
  18. I think what is most frustrating is how other people look at us like we are lazy, and are choosing to not lose weght. Most people don't understand that everybody's body works differently. A few few years ago, I went away for a girls weekend with a friend. We did everything together, and ate pretty much the same foods, and had the same level of activity. Yet when we returned home, I had gained five pounds and she had lost five pounds. My body just works differently. I realize that this surgery won't make me thin, but I am hoping it will help me lose another 60 pounds or do, so I can be in the overweight category instead of morbidly obese.
  19. Yes! And I notice that I always hide behind other people in pictures. I'd like to not have to feel like I need to do that.

    *NEWBIE* Approval Wait

Ugh.. that sucks! I hope everything gets sent in and approved quickly!
  21. I also had PCOS symptoms, but the endocrinologist I went to wouldn't even test me for it. She ordered a bunch of tests, but she put "obesity" as the diagnosis code, which meant the insurance company wouldn't pay for them, so I didn't have them done. My surgery is a revision, which statistically, aren't as successful as wls the first time around. I am optimistic that I will be able to beat the odds
  22. I colored my hair yesterday, and I realized that next year at this time, I will be able to use the plastic gloves that come with the kit! Right now they always tear when I put them on because they are so small.
  23. Being able to buy clothes from regular stores, instead of ordering things online, which always end up being too big or too small.
