I was sleeved a few days ago, and currently have zero desire to eat! I'm on full liquids now, so I am sticking to the premier protein shakes. I'm really surprised at how good I am feeling. I hope it lasts!

I hope your surgery went well. I struggle with the same issues. I think we all do. One thing that helped me was reading a book called Never Binge Again. Maybe it could help you too. (It certainly can't hurt!). Tackling our issues with food is the hardest part of this whole thing. It will be an ongoing battle, but you can do it!

Has anyone received a denial just for Band Removal?
ZinNH replied to kristenmh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My band removal was denied at first, so the doctor had to prove that it was causing problems. An upper GI showed reflux issues or something, and then it was approved. That was about five years ago. my sleeve was approved the first time. -
Ideas on what to tell work
ZinNH replied to general_antiope's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just said I was having a medical procedure done and that it wasn't something anyone needed to worry about. Fortunately, no one probed, at least not yet. Surgery was tuesday and I am going back to work on Monday. Hopefully no one asks! If they do, I'll just go with the "I don't want to talk about it" line. -
September Sleevers- How are you feeling??
ZinNH replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm home from the hospital now. I have been setting my timer for fifteen minutes, and taking three or four sips of water when it goes off. It doesn't hurt to drink- it just feels weird. I drank a premier protein shake this morning with no problem, so at least I know I'll be able to get my protein in. -
What do you use in place of eating for fun/stress/boredom?
ZinNH replied to ProfessorSlim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great question! I've been making a list of little jobs around the house that I've been putting off, like organizing the file cabinet and kitchen cupboards. -
Different surgeons have different rules. Same with insurance companies!

any New Hampshire newbies?
ZinNH replied to inspyrdbyu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a post op group- the info was in the packet I was given in the hospital. There are two in fact- one for people less than a year out, and one for people who are farther along -
September Sleevers- How are you feeling??
ZinNH replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved two days ago. Minor pain where my incisions are. I'm still in the hospital with an IV, so the IV site still hurts a bit. I am starving. I don't miss food. A few months ago, I read a book called Never Binge Again, and it really helped me work through some of my food addiction. The real test for me will be when I am at home and work, where everyone is eating stuff I can't have. -
I'm hiding my surgery from family anyone else ?
ZinNH replied to mzsantiago88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband is the only person I've told. Once I've lost more weight. I might be more open, but for now, I didn't tell anyone. -

One thing I wish I had brought is some baby wipes. The LNA offered to help me clean up yesterday, but at that point I was ok. I woke up this morning and just feel gross and smelly! I will take a shower as soon as I get home. -

I'm here for two nights. I know they've just started letting some people go home after one. They didn't give me the drink, since I'm here for two. My surgery was in the afternoon yesterday, which was actually nice because I had time to run errands before I came! the rooms are semi private. I didn't have a roommate at first, but then at 3 this morning, they moved someone in. She's had family visiting all day, but it hasn't bothered me at all, because there's a curtain between the bed. We share a bathroom though, which is weird, because the nurses will keep track of what you drink, and how much you pee. So you'll have to pee into a plastic thing (called a hat) and leave it there for them! I've been hooked up to an IV since I got here, so I'm not technically dehydrated. I'm just super thirsty. It's such a strange feeling to have to go to the bathroom so much and still feel thirsty! i haven't had any problems drinking the water. It's just hard to sip it as slowly as they want me to! I'm looking forward to clear drinks in the morning i packed my bag, but I didn't even touch it until this morning. Yesterday I mostly slept all day. They gave me a tube of moisturizing chap stick, so I didn't need my own. The drink you have to take before your X-ray is disgusting and leaves a horrible taste in your mouth, but brushing your teeth afterward will help. Today I tried to read a magazine hat I brought with me, but ended up falling asleep. I don't feel tired- I think I am just bored. I loaded up some tv shows and movies on my iPad, but I've been watching the tv in the room more instead. Each bed has its own tv, and the speaker is in the remote control, so my roommate's tv doesn't bother me. they will also give you a morphine drip, and you can push the button every ten minutes if you feel pain. The only pain I am feeling is from the IV injection site. When I get up out of the bed or chair, the incisions hurt a teeny bit, but that is to be expected. I did feel like someone was coming in to my room all night long to get my vitals, but my blood pressure went up and has not been coming down, so that could just be for my situation. -

My surgery was yesterday, and so far it's been smooth sailing. Very little pain. I'm ridiculously thirsty, but other than that, no complaints. Everyone here at CMC has been just wonderful. I've been very impressed with the level of care I've been given. (Don't get me wrong, I am still looking forward to going home tomorrow!) Feel free to ask me anything! -
September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
ZinNH replied to Angel11's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved yesterday. It was a breeze! Very little pain. I'm a little hungry, but mostly just thirsty. I had my X-ray today to make sure there were no leaks, and now I am allowed a tiny amount of water each hour. Tomorrow I get some clear liquids, and should head home at noon. feel free to ask qustions! -
What are you looking forward to after losing weight?

Fitting more comfortably in an airplane seat! -
Hang in there. It will get better soon!

Hang in there and be kind to yourself. It took me a good three months or so before I started losing weight. Low carb is a must! You'll figure out what works best for you. Everybody is so different. The lightbulb came on for me after I read a book called Never Binge AGain. It really helped me get my eating under control.

Plans for family mealtime after surgery?
ZinNH replied to ZinNH's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My pre-op diet allows me to have one small meal each day, so I am still eating dinner with them. My dinner is just modified. I guess I have a week to figure out how to deal with it post surgery! -
Do you plan on sitting with your spouse/partner/children while they eat dinner? If you are the traditional meal preparer, are you going to continue preparing the family meals, even though you won't be able to eat the same food for the first few months?

any New Hampshire newbies?
ZinNH replied to inspyrdbyu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I heard someone say that there was a support group for post op patients, but I haven't been told anything, so maybe I am imagining that. I didn't love the support group meetings that I attended because they were so big. I didn't go to the protein tasting. You'll be starting your pre-op diet the day I have my surgery. I'm on day 4. It's getting a little easier. At least my headache has gone away. -

You're two weeks after me, same surgeon! Do you go to the suppport groups? The time conflicts with something else, so I didn't get to go to many. I should be able to go from now on though. -
I have a list of approved protein shakes. I get three a day, plus one low carb meal.
