Anyone else experience thyroid issues after surgery. October Mark's my 2yr sleeve anniversary. A few months ago I went to see my PCP and after routine bloodwork she noticed my thyroid was over active. Prior to that visit I'd never had any issues with my thyroid. I'm just wondering if it's just me.

Hopefully that feeling will pass after a few weeks. It took me a while to get to a comfortable place emotional wise. I keep going back and fourth with myself feeling terrible and pissed that I couldn't eat and then lay down for a nap like the old days, try that now and I'll regurgitate. Also I'd go weeks without losing any weight even though I was hardly taking anything in. Anyhow, all I can say is eventually it got better and I'm now in a pretty good place. Every once in awhile I'll still get the blues but I'll be a year out from my sleeve in 5 days. My starting weight was 314 and I'm now 193. Still not at my goal weight but I'll get there. Good Luck! What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
Nicole42 replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't wait a year before drinking alcohol as advised. I think I only hung in there around 3 months. I don't drink a lot though, just a glass of wine occasionally. Sent from my SM-G900P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hopefully your doing better now. I've been a slow loser too. Sometimes I go 3 to 4 weeks without losing. Lately it seems my appetite has increased drastically. I'm seriously hungry ever 2 hours or so. Sent from my SM-G900P using BariatricPal mobile app

Will officially be 2 months post op this Christmas Eve. HW 314 SW 247 CW 225 So far I'm doing great and happy with the steady loss and am rarely hungry. However, my appetite returns with a vengeance a week before my cycle. I swear all I want right now is a fully cheeseburger and fries. Which is hilarious by the way since I know I wouldn't be able to get past the first bite of burger and 3 fries max Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

I was sleeved 10/24 and I've only lost 10 pounds so far. I did lose 50 pounds pre-op and I'm still working on getting in my 64oz of water so I figure those 2 things may be factors. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

My surgery was also 10/24 and I'm only down 7 pounds so I understand. I am still struggling to get in my Water so I figure that may be part of my issue. Hang in there we'll all get there together Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

2 weeks Post-Op Questions and Concerns.
Nicole42 replied to sb90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be embarrassed they are your support team! They want to make sure you have a successful recovery. If nothing else at least call for a printout of approved foods and amounts for the stage your in. If they've already given you one you can just say you missed placed it. That way they won't have yo know about your moment of weakness and you'll still get the info you need. YOU CAN DO THIS Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
2 weeks Post-Op Questions and Concerns.

Sounds like you need to get in touch with the dietitian on staff at your doctors office. Most of the time they can provide you with a list of foods and quantities. If you already have a nutritionist don't hesitate to call them that's what they're there for. None of us are perfect and they don't expect us to be. Good Luck! I had to deal with a lot of negativity from my family and friends as well. But, at 290lbs I know its what I wanted. It's funny how everyone else feels like they know whats best for you. Anyhow, I finally just told them all "I know in the end you will all be there for me just like I'd be there for you because that's what people do when they love and support one another." Of course that left them speechless becuase to responding negatively would have left them feeling like an ass. I was sleeved 10 days ago today and everyone has been falling all over themselves to ensure I have what I need for a good recovery. I know I'll still hear about how I didn't need this later on but I can handle it. GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO THIS Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

I was just sleeved on 10/24 and it took almost 7 days for my 1st BM. It was not at all pleasant. It was very difficult and took awhile. Even though I did pretty good getting fliuds in it was hard. Anyhow I talked to my Dr. the other day at my 1 week checkup and was advised to use a stool softner along with benefiber and or miralax. I did pick up colace and benefiber at the store but I only used them that day. The colace being another pill to take along with my other scripts it just too much for me right now. So I think I'll head back out and grab yhe miralax. Btw, I have gone daily since that first time but the poop really reminds me of a babys first in terms of look and texture. Sorry if that was TMI Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Good luck kicking the habit. I'm 8 days out and had my follow up with the Dr. yesterday. I was given the go ahead for a very limited amount of foods. Luckily for me mashed potato's is one of them. Others include pureed soup, yogurt without fruit & soft scrambled eggs. As much as I love chicken I'm too afraid of nicking a staple or choking to even attempt eating one. Also, so far I haven't really craved any food. I spend so much time trying to get in my Water and protien most of the day is filled with that. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Will I be broken forever?
Nicole42 replied to kjkashmaniac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goodness I was sleeved the same day as you and have had some of the same thoughts this first week was HARD. However, today I'm already sensing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm finally able to go without my pain meds and I actually had a BM (hadn't gone since 2days before surgery). It wasn't easy and while I'm on the subject if you haven't already done so you may want to pick up some stool softners. Your braver than me heading back to work already though. I'm taking at least another week. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

After watching quite a few youtube videos I have to say I've seen plenty of people with saggy skin with both surgeries. I myself am only 6 days post op from my vsg and Im already planning on preparing to really commit to a good exercise routine once I'm healed enough to try and combat that problem.
