Am just back from a holiday. Took tons of photos, and even allowed some to be taken of me. Have been really surprised that I look “normal” now. Still plump, but normal! It has probably been 20 years since I could say that. What an unexpected bonus!

I had mine a year ago now. 45kg down and holding. I still wonder if I should have gone roux-en-y instead of sleeve.. but am glad I am holding at current weight. I think perhaps I thought some aspects of things would be easier, and others harder. eg I can still eat normal volume of food without discomfort, or full signal, but then randomly regurgitate certain foods, and it isn’t consistent with that same food later/earlier or related to size of meal. I guess my tum is a bit random now. No spices, that is for certain!! I get awful reflux from time to time, even on omeprazole. I have found the physical changes hard to recognise. I still feel the same size, and get surprised at photos. Anyone else have that??

I'm 11 months down now from my sleeve. Have lost 44kg, but still want to lose more. In hindsight I should have done the Roux-en-Y op, which would have worked better for my food malfunction. The risks scared me off though. Am thrilled to be keeping the weight off though. Am far from perfect with my diet. Every little bit helps though. How's everyone else?

    Dizziness

I do. It's called postural hypotension (or orthostatic hypotension), basically a brief drop in your blood pressure. The only time I have had high blood pressure was briefly in hospital, post op. Since then my blind pressure has been low. So much so that when testing for a postural drop (taking BP while sitting, then immediately after getting up) my standing BP was undetectable. The trick is to change positions slowly.. if not you can faint. Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

    Don't Want to Eat

I'm 4 weeks out, and have complete loss of appetite. Nothing tastes good. I tried some carby things, but just can't be faffed. I've gone back to the Protein shakes - the bare minimum I figure. I'm glad to hear others experiencing it too. Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App
  7. I'm 2 weeks post-op, and for the last two days have felt like I'm wading through mud. I've been back at work a week, am walking 25-40 mins each morning... but have slowed right down now. Could it be some dietary factor? Not having enough protein, or...? Ideas?? Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

I just want to feel better

Thank you! I backed off the big pain meds and that seems to have helped a bit. I have been walking laps around my pool and really feel like the walking is helping tons! Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App Good to hear Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

I just want to feel better

It does get better! Get moving, even if slowly. It helps with reduction of pain, and reduces the incidence of complications. Take pain relief regularly to allow you to move. Hydrate. Take care! Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

    Back to work

Hi all, I had my op on the 25th, so 6 days ago. I'm starting back at work today, and feeling a bit nervous as am having lots of pulling pain from one of the suture lines, unless I curl up like Quasimodo. No one at work knows I've had it done, and I want it to stay that way. Otherwise am doing well. Holding down small amounts of puree, slowly building up my exercise tolerance, trying to get enough liquid in. How long have others had off work? Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

    Back to work

Curious to know how the return to work went. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App I hope I quoted properly? It went well. I had quite a lot of obvious bruising from failed cannulations, but nobody seemed to notice. They did pick up on me not drinking coffee... but I could say with honesty I'd had some tummy troubles while on leave and just wasn't tolerating it. Otherwise it went well. I had enough energy to do my role, have been very careful re picking up heavy things. The last two days I have struggled with energy, but not sure why. 3 days post op

I've never had high BP... but 2 days post op it sat round 190/110, we think due to pain, but I wasn't exactly climbing the walls. Since then I've had postural hypotension (ie it tanks when I get up from sitting and makes me dizzy). Weird things or bodies do! Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

    Catheter question?

No catheter for my op. I can't think of a reason they would for a 90min procedure? Particularly when mobilising is so important. Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

  17. I haven't told anyone, except husband obviously. My colleagues saw my Protein shakes and commented, so I said I was under the guidance of a nutritionist (true). I hate lying. Am back at work 1 week post op, and someone commented on my anti-puke patch behind my ear, so said I'd had some tummy troubles while on leave, also true. I however have a huge bruise on my hand/lower forearm from failed cannulation attempts, which might raise further questions. I had surgery Tuesday, and was back to work the following monday. Hard, but went with the process thinking of taking enough pain relief in order to mobilise comfortably, so was doing laps of the ward the day of surgery, and kept going. Am doing 25min walks each morning now. My job involves a lot of in/out of cars, and so far am managing on panadol (?tylenol). Getting moving helps enormously. All the best for your op!! 18. Meant to add- I also almost talked myself out of it... I should be able to do what others can and lose the weight etc etc. Fact is I haven't, nothing kept working because I would slip somehow. To me the sleeve backs up the new way of eating - a slip causes pain/discomfort and therefore better habits are supported. My 2c Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App

    Back to work

I have been told to lift nothing over 3kg for the next 6 weeks. Luckily my job is quite low-key, so my handbag would be the heaviest thing in my day. Just walked the dogs with hubby (him with the dogs, me with my hand clamped to my belly), 25 mins at a slower pace. Oh well.. paracetamol my friend, about time you did your share of the hard yards! Internal Pulling

I'm day 5 post-op, and am having horrific pain in the sutures to the right of my umbilicus, with it pulling with movement etc. My surgeon said there was a suture to the muscle layer... I'm praying it improves, because I'll be struggling to work with this. Sent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal App
