Maybe you should have a fill. Are you consuming a lot of liquid calories. That just seems like a lot of weight, if you have a good adjustment. I do yo-yo too...about 15-20lbs, so I understand how you feel when some of the weight comes back on and I see numbers on the scale that I thought I said good-bye to forever!

Dr Shayani practices at the Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook. He is one of the best around, great reputation and is only about a 10 minute drive from Downers Grove! Good Luck.
-
He charges a program fee if you had the surgery out of the country. If he is able to communicate with your Dr and they agree that you need care here temporarily, I believe there is no program fee.

Does anyone know if there is a Fill Center in Illinois/Chicago? my insurance doesn't cover them and my doctor only does them under fluro at a cost of $500-$600....and I've heard that there are centers and/or doctors that would do fills for almost half of that....Thank you,

You really have to have a bit taken out. It sounds like you are way too tight. I know its exciting to lose the weight, but doing it this fast is not good. You are going to get dehydrated.
-
Dr Shayani did my surgery at Dayone Health in Aug 07, also. He did leave their facility, but I continued to see him for follow-up thru his own practice. He is the BEST Dr ever!
-
Lynn...Im glad to see you are doing so well....and from your comments about Dr Shayani; I can tell you are satisfied with your choice to go with him.

Like any other service or business, you have choices. And, if you are having issues with their service this early in the deal, I say find another doctor. Right now you are negotiating dollar amounts with him, later it could be your health.

If I dont have to time to cook or am out, I love Wendy's chili. High in protein/low in fot. Skip the cheese...not worth the extra fat and calories.

I know so many bandsters that have these same feelings after surgery. My daughter was banded Sept 16th and she happy for a few days post-surgery...then weepy and depressed. I felt much the same way also....we have to learn a whole new way of living. It takes time to adjust. Its been over a year for me now, and sure, there are times that I wish I could have big meal. But 98 percent of the time, I have no regrets. I understand how you feel...I've been there. It gets better.
-
I have only heard of the Lapband and the Realize band. I have read that they are very similar. I have the Lapband....I feel better knowing that the Lapband has been around for many years. I just dont think we know enough about the other band and how it will work in the long run.
-
I did see the book titled "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" on Amazon...I think it deals with the Lapband as well as gastric bypass.
-
I went home same day, because I was a self pay. I made it thru ok, but I had a lot of gas pain and nausea and would have been more at ease in a hospital....My daughter just had her surgery last week, and stayed overnight (insurance covered her). She was ready to come home by that same evening. I would say, if your insurance is paying, then spend the night. The difference for me, as a self-pay, to have stayed the night would have been about five thousand dollars....not worth it.
-
I would like everyone who is interested in the support group to send me a private message w/your personal email. Lets get this thing started!
-
That's great! I am still in the process of getting things lined up. I think Friday nights will be the only day that I can do it. I have never headed a support group before. But, I think the most important thing is that we all get together and talk about our experiences....my daughter just had her surgery last Tuesday w/Dr Lahmann.

:redface:hello everyone,i am in the process of getting approved and i'm researching which procedure to have...it is kinda driving me crazy..i want to have the lap band because of less risk and shorter recovery but i'm concerned that i'll only lose 60 lbs and stop losing... i know people have lost 100 lbs but it seems to be those who need to lose 150 lbs or more.. please write me and let me know of your situation or those you've heard of, like me... thanks so much... what a great forum ... i'll be back to help others once i have mine, for sure...
best to you! judi
I had 120lbs to lose, not much more than you. It has been 1yr and a few weeks, and I have lost a little more than 94lbs. It is soo possible! I know if I had not bent the band rules, I would have been at my goal already. No regrets. Just do it!
-
Down 2lbs this week...Im getting close the 100lb mark! Im so excited!
-
It was like WHAM! The surgery was the easy part. The six months that followed was a mournig for me. I mourned my formal life. I was happy with the weight loss, but I had to re-learn how to handle stress, how to be in social situations; ect. Before, everything I did involved food. But I have no regrets. I have lost over 90lbs and I feel great!
-
WOW...how awsome is that? And you did it fast...76lbs in six months is fantastic! Keep it up.
-
Thats a great idea, it couldnt hurt!

You certainly have many choices of doctors out there, but will be hard to find such a caring doctor as Dr Shayani. I dont know where you see him, but his Bolingbrook office can usually get you in the same week for an appointment. Best of luck
