  1. I am so stoked to see just how people have gained health back from having this surgery.... People often say "it's a cheats way of losing weight", in fact too many people initially said "you dont need to have surgery". However, at size 20 on average for nearly all my clothes, and now size 10 - 12, they are now going "WOW i wouldn't have recognized you", and some don't actually recognize me. But hey, for me it was more about health....not looks. And yes i am extremely pleased with progress. Oh yes, I do have saggy upper arms and inner thighs but nobody sees that inside my clothes so that's fine for now. I am looking at another 8-9 months before thinking about further surgery to address the saggy bits as I said I would give it years... But for now I will keep on keeping on I sincerely wish you all the best of luck for your futures xx

  4. Hi everyone. I live in Brisbane (Northside). I am 60 yrs of age. I'm a nurse. I had my bypass done October 2015 by Dr George Hopkins. Best decision of my life. Top weight pre surgery was 109.6kgs now 61.8kgs and normal BMI. I am also a chronic renal patient and my kidney function has improved to point of yearly visits to clinic for check up, and same with my rheumatoid and AS. I developed a stricture at 6 weeks post up but dilation solved that problem. Only problem left is ulcerative eosophagitis but that's a small cry from where I have come to date..... I now have a passion for clothes for first time in my life. Strange thing here is though I now have a sweet tooth.....lollies daily, never before in my life did I have this craving....and still maintain weight. Has anyone else found this??? No One In The Sixties?

Hi everyone. I'm 60 yrs old. Had my Roux-en-Y done October 2015. Lost 44.5kgs do date and BMI is finally normal. First time since I was a child. I'm loving my new life. I am a chronic kidney patient but renal function has improved since the bypass...no longer take mess for that one. Rheumatoid and AS are also now in check...so that to is a bonus. Had a stricture at 6 weeks but got dilation for that. The only issue now is I have ulcerative oesophagitis which is a nuisance at times....any solutions? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Getting approved and now my job wants to trip

I too work as a nurse in hospital and one of the reasons I had the surgery was so I could continue work in a healthier state and be a fully useful part of the team....I guess I'm fortunate that my colleagues have been so supportive. You would be surprised just how many health workers have had bariatric surgery where I work. Just remember "to look after others you need to look after yourself first". You need to forge ahead....you will never regret doing this for yourself Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    So scared!

My BMI wasn't high enough but because of existing renal and rheumatoid and AS issues I was considered for the surgery...and I am 60 years old... Very happy with my results...see my blog for encouragement Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
