mbuczkowski replied to Butterfly512's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I saw this on the Today show and they called it an accordion procedure. Not sure I'd be comfortable with this procedure. How do food particles not get stuck in the folds or suture line? Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app -

Picked up a new hobby after getting a new me...

I actually do a 5 mi walk in the AM and weights at the gym after work. But REI just opened near me. I plan to hike part of the Apalacian Trail later this Year. So, I figure incorporating weights with walking are good training. Also, the more muscle, the faster the fat burn Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app -
I figure I'll buy a wig or try my extensions if the hair loss continues as much as now. I started at 2.5mo and am 3.5mo now. But as someone said, it's a small price to pay. It grows back. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

I don't know anything about Dr. C. I did have surgery with Dr. Illan and I have nothing but positive things to say. Not only was he great, all the hospital staff and valets were awesome. I have 4 other co-workers that are former patients and we have all had great results and no complications Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

How to tell if you're in starvation mode?
mbuczkowski posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw that my weight is going down much slower. However I workout every night. In my workout, I burn more calories than I eat all day. Is my weight loss slow due to starvation or is it just me. I am 10.5 weeks post op Walk a brisk pace for 9 miles, 5 days/week burn 1400-1500 cal per walk Daily consumption is 1000cal. -

Self pay complications - any insurance to buy ?
mbuczkowski replied to Happynew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, this is specific to medical tourism. This was one of the main reasons I decided to travel to Mexico for surgery. The company name is Global Protection Solutions. There are other plans, but since my local Dr. didn't offer Blis, I had to rethink things. I had other reasons for going, but this was one of the major factors in my decision. -
I am searching, since I thought I read it before, but is there program requirements pre-op if self pay? I am sure every Dr. Is different. However, I am trying to figure out timing for work. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Self pay complications - any insurance to buy ?
mbuczkowski replied to Happynew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. It covered complications there and here in the US. However it is a reimbursement type insurance, not like your major medical. -
Self pay complications - any insurance to buy ?
mbuczkowski replied to Happynew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in Orlando and self pay. My original surgeon didn't offer complication insurance. Therefore, I opted to go to Dr Illan in Tijuana, MX where I paid less and was able to buy medical tourism insurance. It covers me for 6 months post surgery and I can go to local doctors. Luckily, my doctor has very few complications and I am doing great!!!
