Definitely call, just to be safe. I could have written this post. I have the same issues with pain and vomiting meat. I have already had the testing done and I am healed, no issues. The surgeon says my new stomach is just extraordinarily sensitive and that it will likely resolve itself over the next several months. I am 10 weeks out from my Gastric bypass. Gas-X strips, how do they work?
FarmerJulie replied to Teajayteejay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe they work for upper gas, not the lower. They relieve the bloated, burpy feeling. Beano is supposed to work for the lower gas. I don't know whether that is an approved medication though. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App -
Frustrated, depressed, confused 5 1/2 weeks post op
FarmerJulie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to give you all the facts. Pre-op I was consuming avg 1300 calories a day in June, which each month went down a bit and about Sept I was at 1000 calories per day. October 800 to 900 per day. From August to surgery day (11-3) I lost about 50 lbs, and since surgery about 7 lbs. I have been in a stall since week 2! My calories avg 500-600 right now. Getting all my Water in (100 oz), most days all my Protein. Not eating "sliders". I am cleared to eat anything but raw veggies and steak. I am exercising several times a week, treadmill and weight machine. I am exhausted. I throw up food daily. I cannot tolerate beef (ground), or any type of fish. I am going from zero shakes a day to having them be my main source of food again. I'm not hungry, which is great. I cannot handle all the vomiting while not losing weight either! Tonight it was tuna salad. Just a couple of bites. It came back up. I am separating the drinking and eating. I chew till it's watery mush. I avoid dry foods. I throw up water, yogurt, and cottage cheese, not just solids. I don't over eat. Some times even the first swallow of water feels stuck, especially right when I wake up. Yes, I take my Vitamins. Yes, I called the doctor. (No return call) I even emailed. No response from that either. I went into urgent care last week. She ran liver tests (?) and said check in with Bariatric. Bariatric doesn't return calls. I have a telephone appt with the nutritionist Thursday. I wouldn't feel so miserable about being miserable if I was at least losing. We are heading to Disneyland next week and I am worrying about being able to keep up with my teens. Any idea what I can do to help the weight start coming off? As for my other issues, I feel it may be a stricture. I'll call the Doc again. Thanks for listening. Julie -

Eh, ok. Back to liquids with a little cottage cheese, yogurt, and refried Beans added in. Haven't thrown up in a couple of days! I see the surgeon Tuesday, but the barium swallow test isn't till the week after. I actually feel better. Throwing up takes alot of energy! Thanks for asking! Mandat89: I was an emotional eater, boredom eater, and I just really enjoyed food too! Taking the time before surgery to explore why you eat and begin to change your patterns will help you be successful after surgery. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

I worked up to the day before, and went back to work 2 weeks after. I had no complications. I was tired that first week, but really had no issues. I have a moderately active job, some computer work along with carrying boxes and doing stairs. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

I am not sure if I am normal, I am fairly new. And my experience is with gastric bypass, but I am not hungry. At all. I eat and drink because I am supposed to, for fuel. My kids made Christmas Cookies last weekend. I had one. My favorite, a peppermint pinwheel. It was tasty. And I haven't felt the need for another. We all have overeating and craving issues or we wouldn't be here, but the "tool" makes such a difference. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

Thanks Ashley. I got a call back today, finally. Going in to see the surgeon in a week and the nurse's advice was to go back to very soft foods in the meantime. And I will be adding Prilosec! -

Thanks James. I appreciate the advice. I think I will back off the solids. And I will ask about the Prilosec at my telephone appt. My surgeon said the sooner the solids the better, but he also said mashed potatoes are a good option and I don't listen about that part. ???? Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App -
Walked almost 38 miles in the past 5 days
FarmerJulie replied to Aggiemae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are heading there in 10 days! I cannot wait!! I am hoping to skip the seatbelt extender on the plane this trip too. And looking forward to walking, walking, walking. Congrats! Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App -
Try to keep it simple. Highly processed fat free foods are gross. I agree!! But steamed veggies are good, skinless chicken is good, fresh fruit etc. Highly season, but don't heavily sauce your food. Stay away from high carb/sugar foods and have some healthy fats. There are so many tasty recipes out there! This isn't a prison sentence. You are choosing to undergo a surgery for a healthier you. Starting down the path now will make it easier in the long run. You can do it!!

Kaiser Oregon - Not Covered?
FarmerJulie replied to saoirse16's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am three weeks out. I had gastric bypass at Kaiser Sunnyside. Are you in the Portland area? Mine was definitely covered! It's a huge program. Takes a while to get through. With Kaiser the first step is a referral from your primary, so go see them. I am guessing Member services was getting it wrong. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App -
I'm Jealous - Surgery Date
FarmerJulie replied to weightglitch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kaiser is a slow process. I feel for you. But it is very thorough. January is not bad! shakes will be on sale for everyone's New Years resolutions! I am Kaiser too, but up in Oregon. I am 5 days post op! Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App -
November 3rd! Just a few more days. Really tired of shakes, but excited for Thursday.
