People Who Dont Support Your Decision
msmonafly replied to OnTheWay to Thin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry that your friend has to go through the pain of not having support. I just want you to tell her that this is about her! This choice is about becoming comfortable in the skin that is hers!!! Her sister does not have to support her choice! You can not expect everyone to celebrate your choices, that is why you have to plant your own garden instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers..... Tell your friend to put her head up, her shoulders back and jump on this BAND-WAGON!!!! We all will be the support that she needs!!!!! -

Just keep the faith and know that when it time for you to be banded you will be... I know this is not what you want to hear but.........." EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON" -
looking for a fill doctor in Austin, Tx
msmonafly replied to janed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use the True Results with Amy Pope doing my fills. I like the Flo(whatever) better than the let's fish around for your port fill. This is the center that I did all of my pre req with to be banded. I know almost all of the staff and they are great..... You should give them a call..... -
One more thing..... I know people that have had the bypass and they may lose the weight faster, but the side effects are somewhat bad. I do not mean to put the bypass down at all because it has helped many people, but I have not had any side effect that I have not caused myself(feeling lucky and tried to eat a chilidog....not smart). I have realized that it was me and not my band.... ok I am getting off of my soapbox.....PEACE

I feel the same way.... I was banded 2-29 and I have lost anywhere between 15-20lbs give or take a few. I do workout and I am getting positive responses from the people around me. I thought that I would have lost more weight than this, but I am losing lots of inches. I finally got a fill that I was happy with and I think that it was the fill with the xray.... I will never have a fill the other way. I have 8cc in I guess my 14cc band. Believe it or not I got better restriction with 6cc then 7cc(strange). I just try to take it one step at a time and remember that this band is a tool. I have to still workout which is not a problem, I am a gym rat and was before the band. I just think that my metbolism is super slow.... I hope that you do not give up and remember that you can do this and the band will not do it alone. Be proud that you took your health into you own hands!!!!!!

After which fill did YOU really start losing!
msmonafly replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, I got my 3rd fill today, and I really think that I felt more after the 2nd fill. I lose 3 oz, I thought that I would have lost more. Everyone that sees me tells me that they can see a difference. I can see the difference. I do workout, I am kinda a gym rat!!!! The band will not do it alone for everyone and I know that I am one of them. This is such a learning process...... I can tell the difference the next morning, if I can not tell a difference soon, i will go back. The only issue that I have is that my port is now angled different, it took a hell of a long time to find it today and that was not fun. Thank goodness they numb ya!!!! -
I was banded on 2/29/08 and I got my first fill 20 days out. I wanted it very bad because I was eating like before I got the band. I am glad that I got my fill. I was told that I got a fill at the time of banding. So I guess it depends on your doctor.

Did I really have surgery???
msmonafly replied to azchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I feel the same way that you do... I called my doctors office last week and told them that I am hungry. I have my first follow up appt this week and I was told that if the swelling has gone down around my port, that I could get a fill. I hope so, because I told my sister that I think my band has disappeared. How strange.....I am ready to feel like I did the first week.. I understand so much more now!!!!!!! -
I'm still eating WAY to much. why?
msmonafly replied to winnk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all of this info, because today I was feeling as if I would be one of the ones that the band will not work for. I expected to be losing more weight faster than this and I think that I am concerned about what everybody around me will say when they see that I am still about the same size... When will what they think not matter? Anyway, I know that I could eat whatever I want to but I am fighting it.... I will suceed, but it is so hard when you want to eat hamburgers and fries from SONIC!!!!! (SMILE).... but that has only helped me reach that 280 mark.... -
Am I going to lose my mind on mushies?
msmonafly replied to kristi43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, I was banded 2/29 and I feel the same way.... I am so over this mushie and liquid diet.... I do not want to feel this way and sometimes I get so over food I just don't eat and I know that is not good... The first week was soo good. I mean I could barely eat a cup of food. I am going to the gym tomorrow. We can do this, we will have our first fill soon, just be strong.....I am talking to myself as well...... -
Hello from Texas
msmonafly replied to healthychoice32's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, I am living in Austin, and I was banded a week ago today 2/29/08 by Dr. Gonzales in San Antionio. I did not know what to think, so the day before and the day of, I was just cool. Everyone around me kept asking was I nervous and excited. I told them to not ask me and just let everything happen. It was a very pleasant and I am amazed at how good I feel. The other night I was lying in bed wondering if there was something in there.... i mean the only thing that I feel is the food dropping, I guess that I used the correct terms, it feels like I am about to belch(the pressure). It does not hurt, just a bit strange. I am also sick of the soup and bored with food, which makes me not want to eat.. I know that is not good, but I am sick of soup, juice. I was going to have the lapband put on in Bedford, but moved to Austin... Just know that this is a very good website and I found it the week of my surgery and it helped so much... Thanks Everyone -
That was a very hard diet to follow. i do understand, just pick yourselve up and start over again

I was banded 2/29/08 by Dr. Gonzales in San Antonio, Tx. So far I think that this has been one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. I have loss weight and then gained it back so many time that I was just over it. I love to workout and can not wait until I can get back into the gym. As far as pain, I really did not have much, I have had gas worst than this so that was a breeze. Since I work in retail, I requested 2 weeks off, just to get to understand my body before I return to work. Since I am home I watch TV and I have noticed how many commericals are about fast food, then the next commerical is about the lapband WOW!!! Anyway, I would suggest working out before the band, that helped me a great deal with recovery. I reserached the lapband for years and finaly decided to go for it and I would do it all over again if I had too. Good Luck to and I hope that everything works out for you...PEACE

My Friends/family need me to be overweight
msmonafly replied to justicenyce's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I just informed some of my friends and family that I got the band and they are all supportive. My cousin whom was always thin said, "Your gonna be my size" and maybe I will. I was very hush hush about the whole process until i got my approval. Now, I am telling more and more people about my band... I hope that eveyone knows that they have to do what is best for them, and changing your life will in fact change the comfort zones of those around you. but guess what??? Just like you will have to adjust to living with the band, they will have to adjust to the new found freedom from being overweight that you havefound. Peace... -

I am getting over this clear liquid diet, but I vow to hang in there because I did not do this just to got back to old habits. I have been really craving toast with butter and jelly, but I refuse to give in. I am really thankful that I found this site and all of the information that you all have provided has been awsome. So far I have lose 5lbs since being banded....
