Its a choice made by the company my husband works for. It makes insurance prices more manageable for employees when WLS is not a coverage. At least that's what they told me when I called.Just wondering why your insurance denied you. I am just starting and would hate to go through all the work just to be denied too.

I have Gerd/reflux so the sleeve is not the wisest choice. Plus after all my research and going over pros and cons of both options bypass was what I wanted. Why are you not considering the sleeve?

I'm going for Gastric Bypass. I've heard the band has too many complications here in the states I could only imagine getting it in Mexico and no doctor here to handle post surgery.

Thank you j_poulin, This does help. Dr. Garcia is the one I've heard and read the most positive feedback about. The other was Dr. Alvarez but he only does the sleeve.

My insurance won't cover WLS. Is there anyone that had their surgery performed in Mexico and has any advise for self pay? I've done LOTS of research but would like to know if I'm crazy for considering another country.

I just had surgery with Dr. Garcia on Saturday. It was a great experience and nurses and doctors are very attentive. Flight home was very uncomfortable.
