Surgery Wednesday
Navigating the Wilderness replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not too terribly familiar with Paleo. Ask your surgeon about what they think. -
Sleeved today, staff driving me nuts
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Brick Daddy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same complaints. Luckily I had an awesome nurse who I begged to leave me alone for 3 hours to sleep and he coordinated it so all the assistants and such left me alone for 3 glorious hours of sleep. -

Surgery Wednesday
Navigating the Wilderness replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on taking the next step! Everyone has wide arrays of emotions before surgery, and I can say after four months that my new 'normal' feels as comfortable as my old 'normal' did. Regarding the meat and veggies, as long as you make it a priority to get as much protein in as possible after surgery you should be fine. There are other sources of protein instead of meat including vegan if that is what you prefer. Enjoy the healthier you and best of luck with your surgery!! -

How long was your surgery?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to jenzds75's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Different surgeons take different amounts of time due to their skill, hospital facilities, and a host of other factors. I would ask your surgeon directly in order to get the most accurate answer. -
Gastric Sleeve
Navigating the Wilderness replied to FloridaGal1976's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I know BariatricPal has teamed up with some surgeons in MX. I would check that program out if considering surgery there. -
Vitamin Patches???
Navigating the Wilderness replied to erint93's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think until some respectable studies start coming out I would avoid them unless my surgeon explicitly told me use them. There seems to be too little evidence on their efficacy at this time. -
Sugar free candy
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Sparklez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tried Werther's sugar free caramels hard candy. It was ok, but did have some fat. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. -
Anxiety
Navigating the Wilderness replied to halo3960's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt exactly the same way leading up to surgery. -
10 days after sleeve, all of a sudden bs
Navigating the Wilderness replied to lizpuller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely tell your surgeon that your bs is complete bs and run some tests. -
Diet stalled
Navigating the Wilderness replied to bigjoe1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had that issue with water, I thought of all the times I was gut-bustingly full before surgery and kept eating. I then applied that to water. Just keep drinking it even if you don't want to. -
Can I have this?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Vsgneeded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you are a sleeve there is less chance of dumping than a RNY, but even without it, it is just plain not 'Bariatirc Friendly'. -
Lose Weight without Surgery
Navigating the Wilderness replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Pretty sure you can't permanently change your food issues in 6 months, and it doesn't have any metabolic affects either. My guess is this would end up being close to 100% regain after a couple years. Terrible idea. Not directing this at the OP, but at the company pushing it. -
Bypass vs Sleeve
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Lex12005's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't think either of them will make you look 'sick' unless you do not nourish yourself properly. This decision is so personal to each and every one of us that it is impossible for anyone to truly tell you which is best for you. Personally, if I had a BMI of 37, I would go with the sleeve simply because it is less time one the table, but there are mitigating factors there too, like if you suffer from GERD. I chose the sleeve with a BMI of 55 and it has been so far so good. Best of luck in your journey! -
Pronunciation?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to passion4film's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I go in and call it duo-dizl. Just for fun. -
Vsg & domestic abuse
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Deactivatedfatgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would very much like to meet your soon to be ex and 'vigorously discuss' how I feel about a 'man' putting his hands on a woman like that. -
Why did you pick this surgery?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Cali_love89's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was scheduled for band to RNY, but changed to sleeve instead. As far as restriction goes, there is a night and day difference for me between when I had the band and now that I have the sleeve. The main difference was having a stomach that was never full even if the band was, so the hunger was always there vs having a small stomach that is easy to fill. I am very happy with the revision and honestly have no complaints about the sleeve at all. -
Got my surgery date!

Highly recommended Beverly Hills surgeon or Mexico?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a ton of people here who have had their surgery in Mexico. If I had to self-pay I would definitely talk to them and see what they think. -
