Those of you 5 months post op...
Navigating the Wilderness replied to AmandaWho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think some of this answer will come from how well you personally recover as we are all different. I am almost 4 months post-op and I have no foods that I cannot tolerate. There is definitely less hunger and cravings, and I am very happy and healthy right now! Enjoy your Honeymoon!! -
Gastric bypass or sleeve? How did you choose? Anyone 5 years out of surgery?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to LoveLife4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My choice for Sleeve vs RNY was the amount of time under anesthesia. It was 3 times longer of a procedure for RNY. That was it. I think your NUT is way off base with the claim that you only lose weight for 5 years with a sleeve. Heck I don't think there is even a study that has been conducted on the sleeve lasting for more than 5 years yet. I think they are both good solutions, and both depend on whether the patient decides to work with or against the procedure. -

Navigating the Wilderness replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bonus for picking two containers that are Seahawk's colors. -

PROTEIN SHAKES & NUTRITION Pre/Post-Op
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a fantastic post. So many vegans ask what to do about protein shakes and you just gave them an excellent start @SEAHAWKS FAN!. I wish we could pin this somewhere for them. -
Day 5 - suprised to be hungry
Navigating the Wilderness replied to jaminator's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I never lost my appetite. It is good in the fact that you can practice healthy habits from the get-go. -
I'm so stressed out!
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Joann454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is precisely 0.0% chance they will test you for nicotine or care if you have had it. Maybe you could smoke something without nicotine to help you calm down some . -
A record of my experience... from start to finish... rants and all!
Navigating the Wilderness replied to njgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fantastic Post! -
Well, I was sleeved in February and my A1C went from a 7.6 in February to a 5.1 in May, so sleeves can be very effective for diabetes management.

Weight dropping but measurements not??
Navigating the Wilderness replied to dberthelot02's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You would be surprised where you carry weight. Unless you are measuring every square inch of your body, you have most likely lost size as well. -
#FitCouple?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to LoveLife4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife has been losing weight right along with me even though she did not have surgery. It has been awesome. -
How long before you returned to work?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Cassicakes01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 3 weeks and 2 days off. At the end of the first week I was aching to go back to work, at the end of the second week, I was so tired I was not sure 3 weeks would be enough. -
My Hunger Has Returned!!
Navigating the Wilderness replied to jessjames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is messed up because I have the exact same issue. Never cared about salt before, now crave it. Used to be a sugar addict, now I don't care about it at all. -
Weight loss 6 weeks post vsg
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Ren33vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
over ten percent of your entire body mass gone in six weeks is still very impressive! -
Yogurts?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Margater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I highly recommend Yoplait Greek 100 protein vanilla yogurt. Its a winner for me. If you can stomach plain yogurt, go for the FAGE plain it has like 20g of protein. -
Slippage of sleeve
Navigating the Wilderness replied to glitter eyes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Acid Reflux
Navigating the Wilderness replied to Margater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, you are on the right class of drugs to treat it, maybe ask if it is OK to switch to a different PPI like Nexium? I had raging throw-up-in-your-mouth-at-night reflux before my sleeve, but after, and with Nexium, I have not had a single issue. No need for a FML. -
Regret
Navigating the Wilderness replied to loveleee123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so very common. It is not a time to worry or get upset (but please do feel free to complain about it, that is always allowed). You made a good choice, follow through. -
Curious if the multivitamins you take have potassium in them?
-
Welcome aboard!! Most will steer you away from 'bars' as they tend to be high in carbs. My surgeon would only let me choose between Unjury and Isopure. Both of their chocolate flavors were decent. Premier Protein's caramel flavor is pretty epic, but it also has more calories and carbs per ounce than Unjury or Isopure. Best of luck on your journey!!

Is it something that your Surgeon approves of?

Infused water for post op vgs?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to lizpuller's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would check with your surgeon. I would not have chanced it directly after the operation, but everyone is different. -
Pre-op Jitters
Navigating the Wilderness replied to lylasmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, the fact you drink a gallon of water per day is excellent! Yes you may find it hard to get that much right after surgery, but within a couple months you should be fine. Generally right after surgery you should at least be able to have ice chips. Not waking up, well, in the very unlikely chance that happens you will never know, so stop worrying about that. Back pain, yes! I had similar and they compressed my sciatic nerve on the table, now I can't feel anything in either thigh except the occasional shooting burning pain. It sucks, but I never told them ahead of time I had sciatic nerve issues. I suspect if you tell both your surgeon and the hospital, they will do everything they can to make sure you do not have any issues there. My best advice is to plan for post-op future and do not worry about the things you cannot control during the op itself. Busy yourself with details regarding your new life!! -
How long until you received a date?
Navigating the Wilderness replied to LoveLife4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think that is indeed possible given you had your 6 NUT visits already.
