I am flying soon and only taking carry on. I of course need to bring Protein with me. Suggestions on how to pack my GENEPRO? I don't want to bring the entire 90 serving container. DS surgery 12/14/2016 -

Hey! Where do you buy your GENEPRO from -- Amazon? Currently on Protein shakes but if I can mix it into my food later that'd be cool too. Can't wait till next week when I can have pudding. Do you think it's the best flavorless protein powder? I do get it from Amazon about $1.10 a serving (30grams protein) when you buy the 90 serving container. I haven't tried others brands so I can't say how it compares. I tend to find something I like and that works for me and stick to it. DS surgery 12/14/2016

I drink broth with GENEPRO in it and it seems to satisfy the late night food cravings. If it is a sweet craving I mix genepro in sugar free pudding. DS surgery 12/14/2016

Need Dr Recommendations in Dallas PLEASE
AllyInDallas replied to jbaker5d's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
After tons of research and speaking with friends who had wls, I chose Dr Ayoola. He is genuinely the most heartfelt and passionate doctor I have ever met. A wonderful man and an even more impressive surgeon. I do not take anesthesia nor surgery lightly but was 100% confident in his hands and those of the anesthesiologist he has used for years. My only complaint would be on some of his office staff, which seems to have changed recently. The NUT in his office is wonderful. DS surgery 12/14/2016 -

Your surgeon should have anesthesiologists that they work with regularly. I actually got to speak with mine before surgery, made sure they were in-network for my insurance and get an idea of who is holding my life in their hands. I would honestly recommend deciding which surgery is best for YOU by researching it yourself. Not the one whatever surgeon you are talking to wants to do. Some surgeons will promote one over the other simply because it is easier for them or what they prefer to do. Pick the surgery then shop the best surgeon and team to perform it. DS surgery 12/14/2016

I had the DS even though my BMI was 40 and I had no other issues. Why? Because if I was going to put my body through surgery I only wanted to do it once and it has the best long term results. I am also fortunate enough to live close to one of the best highest rated DS surgeons in the county. I would never have chose the surgery otherwise. The surgeon is so extremely important esp with DS. Pain after Surgery please help
AllyInDallas replied to newbie1021's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try to get a tummy binder or wear something that will gently squeeze in and help hold the part of your tummy that hurts the worst. And as horrible as it sounds try to walk at minimum every hour that you are awake to get that gas out. Make sure you are following the diet instructions fully as well. Sorry that's all I have. Hope you start feeling better. DS surgery 12/14/2016 -

I was in horrible gas pain last night and my wonderful husband at 10pm went out and got me some strips. I have never used them before and I was amazed! I went from tears in excruciating pain to feeling almost 100% about 15 minutes after taking them. DS surgery 12/14/2016

I am 10 days post op and in the "soft foods" stage. My son wanted to take me to the store and I know he loves going to Breakfast so I suggested we go before hand. I ordered from their "light" menu a single scrabbled egg with cheese and bacon. Out came what looked like about 3-4 scrabbled eggs of which I took maybe 3 "normal" sized bites of leaving 98% of my food. I gave the bacon to my son. When I was done I asked for a box and the waitress saw all my left over food and asked "did you not like it"? I don't know what it was about the question that made me panic a little but I did. Being someone who has almost always cleaned my plate my entire life I just didn't know what to say. I didn't want to offend her or the cook or have an "awkward" moment of me and my mouth that just has no filter by saying "I just had weight loss surgery and can't eat much". After awkward silence my son saved me by saying "my mom already ate at home but I made her come get breakfast with me". Thank God! But this long rant does have a point..... when only being able to eat a very little portion of food when going out, how do you answer that question? "Did you not like your food?" I am sure this will not be the last time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have the unflavored GENEPRO that has 30grams Protein per serving and do very well in it. I have put it in decaf coffee, Powerade, even mixed it in some sugar free Jello. To me it does change the taste/texture minimally, but not in a displeasing way. There is no way I could get my protein in without it. DS surgery 12/14/2016

Well I crave my soft foods constantly then eat 1-3 bites and am sooooo "over it". But this too shall pass. We are getting stronger and better every day! DS surgery 12/14/2016

I had my DS on the 14th as well. The liquid diet was killing me! It helped to put onion powder and other seasonings in my broth. Thank goodness I am on soft foods now. Hang in there!! DS surgery 12/14/2016

Did you not like your food?
AllyInDallas replied to AllyInDallas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That is great advice and something my husband and I have talked about. However, we normally order completely opposite things lol. The "to go box" before hand is a great idea and something I would do when I was dieting and portion controlling so I would still psychologically be "finishing my plate" while only eating a portion. Part of my surgery was gallbladder removal so I am sticking to sharing just that detail if people at work ask. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had DS on 12/14. I have to get 80-100grams of Protein a day. The only way I get close is with my GENEPRO. It is almost completely unflavored and mixes well. I put one scoop in 4oz of anything (Powerade, Vitamin Water, milk, decaf tea) and get 30g protein from the 4oz drink. I mixed it in warm broth yesterday. Not sure I would be able to do it without it.
