    Weight loss surgery

Sorry this is happening ... we have an adult daughter who lives at home, and she can't move out -- she just doesn't have the resources so the poor child is stuck with us. Sounds like you have things that keep you there, so it might be helpful for you to find means of support outside the house -- not sure where you are in Illinois, but North Shore has excellent support groups twice a month (https://www.northshore.org/apps/calendar/results.aspx?Keywords=bariatric) that address the needs and concerns of people both pre and post surgery. There are also really good weight-loss psychologists in Illinois who could help provide tools to cope with family members and others who are not supportive. The only change we can control is in ourselves, but as in all things -- we need to know how to make the changes. I hope you have the opportunity to get some assistance.

    Issues finding right food..

For a different meal choice, try extra lean ground turkey with a pack of taco mix and extra Water to make it thinner ... be sure to really break the turkey up while you are cooking it so it is very fine ... then enjoy with some melted cheddar on top. But do eat it slowly! about an ounce over 1/2 an hour should make it OK. Good luck.

    Should I be upset?

I need to be mindful about being honest in my responses --- as passive/aggressive behavior is one of the things that got me in this situation. So in the future when asked a question like "do you mind if we get pizza," I need to learn to say -- "actually, I do -- I am just not ready for this yet. But you guys need to go ahead -- and I will catch up with you later. My choice, my decision -- and I hope you can understand." I need to know it is OK to say that I DO mind things, and to take actions into my own hands. Thanks for helping me work through that, even though that wasn't your goal!
  5. Em ... do a search of all I want for Christmas is food.... cute girl (not me) with dark hair will be one of the options. I posted it as a joke because of being surrounded by Holiday food and to be honest .... sometimes that is what I want to give into. Not everyone appreciated it .... my bad. Not losing weight!

That's 6 pounds a week. That's a lot of weight. A lot. It will start again. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  7. When you can relate to this you-tube so much, but are concerned that others won't see the humor ...
  8. I had nearly a 20 pound gain the day I got home and I was shocked! By my two week check up, I was 3 pounds below weight on my surgery date. It will come off -- totally not about you or anything you did.

    Not doing so well

Hey there -- this is tough -- but I agree with Little Bill and others ... this feeling that you can't control yourself with food right after surgery is a path to destruction for your surgery -- and for your own mental health. I am not a mental health professional (and I don't play one on TV), and even if I were, this would not be the right format to try to work out what is going on. If you had surgery locally, ask your team if they can recommend a psychologist whose expertise is food issues. And if they don't have anyone to recommend, or you went out of the country -- google it in your area. From a physical perspective, this is super dangerous. But for your own positive mental health in the future -- it is also dangerous. Truly -- good luck.
  10. I wasn't prepared for the huge weight gain right after surgery. The day after I got home I weighed myself, and it was literally 19 pounds higher than surgery day -- and that was a shocker. I figured it out pretty quickly, but it did little for the confidence. The rest of my journey has been remarkably easy, pain-free, and lacking of regret.
  11. God Bless --- keep up your strength and dedication and commitment to achieve the life you deserve!

    Puréed food

Gosh -- thanks for asking: 8 eggs; 1 c Fairlife Milk; 1 c skim mozzarella cheese; 5 Tbs unflavored Unjury; three twists of black pepper. Mix all together, spray a round cake pan with Pam, pour all ingredients in, bake at 350 for 40 minutes -- I ate about 1/8 at a time. Second time we made it with super ground up 99% fat free turkey sausage --- about six ounces total. I just could not stomach pureed meats either, but knew I needed to start making the switch over to more solid foods, and this did hit the spot. Good luck!
