  3. I add unflavored Protein powder into Jello, broth, pudding, bariatric hot chocolate. There are actually days I have gone over significantly! It doesn't disturb the flavor too much, through when using a blender to mix it in, it can get quite frothy which is sometimes good -- other times, not so much.
  4. So yep -- compared to many on here, I have next to no experience ... but just wanted to share observations from 2 weeks past surgery for others in my shoes -- or others that will be there soon. 1. I sure picked the easy way out of this! The answer to that is no. This process has completely changed my life, my thinking, my approach, each and every day and each an every hour. But in order to get control over this weight problem that is puling down so much else it needs to happen. I don't think I was aware of the level of change -- but it's significant -- and it's important. 2. Thank God I am not hungry anymore! I wish. I am. Not in the same gnawing going to eat a live animal hungry -- but it's still a part of me. But this tool call WLS is helping get control and manage through it. Besides -- at this point the thought of busting a stitch scares me, and I am sure consumption of a wild animal would cause problems. 3. Momma always said: You leave with the one who brung you. My surgeon and the entire team is pretty strict -- 4 weeks of liquid diet in advance (and I mean shakes only), two weeks moving to full liquids the second week after surgery. I see a lot of different instructions on the site -- and it is interesting -- but I am staying with what my team knows and wants. I figure their experience with this protocol is what works for them, so I'm sticking with it. After all, I selected them. There are different ways to do things in my profession -- and they still have good results -- it can be that was in the medical profession as well. 4. Weight is not dropping off me with every step I take. i just went for my two week post-op today and was down only three pounds since my weight on surgery day. Yes on the fluids. Yes on the Protein. But this is just the way it is. I know I will get there. Plus, I have lost 44 pounds since my journey began in late July, which isn't nuthin' ... today my BP was 107 over 71 ... blood sugar has been hovering around 92 -- there are lots of measures of success and indicators I am doing the work needed. 5. I value the information and feedback and openness and sometimes the raw emotions people express on this site. I use it for comfort, for context, for smiles and even sometimes to say "Are you flipping nuts to do that ...." ... internally anyway. Oh the righteousness of such incredible experience (did I mention two weeks out of surgery?). I look forward to continuing the gather all I can from all of you -- most of whom are so much more expert than I ... and appreciate a forum to express my observations.

  8. What caused my initial post was the lack of my bowels moving since before surgery which was a week ago. In research after I found out this was normal .... but wasn't aware of it in advance .... truly a relief .... but just do be aware as you approach your date. 10. I came home on Friday morning after surgery on Wednesday and have no major complaints, so I know I am fortunate. One question however (I searched the boards and did not see an answer) -- can you have too MUCH Protein immediately post-op? My husband made me sugar - free Jello with unflavored Protein powder in it, he also made me chicken broth and we are putting unflavored protein in that, I bad a Brariatric Advantage shake with Fairlife Milk (super high protein), and it all came out to about 140 grahams of protein. I also got about 64 additional ounces of Fluid in. Total calorie count (which I know is unimportant) was under 400, so I know I am not over eating -- but will that much protein be difficult on my liver -- anyone know? Thanks!!

    First World Problems with Friends

Crazy, right? This time should be about you, and here you are trying to arrange it, knowing full well if the situation were reversed, you would make it happen for friends and family. Sorry. How frustrating for you. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Scared and confused

I do think that many times those who post have more challenges than those who don't. I am only two days out of surgery which seems to be the time people feel the most challenges and thus far things are fine...sore, sure. Nausea ... after surgery. Hungry? I am .... but not out of control. Just getting ready to embrace this new life. Conversely, thus is the third time I started the process ..... I just wasn't ready before. Listen to all experiences with a grain of salt and make the best choices for you and your life. Trust yourself as opposed to all of us.... Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

November 16th here ..... 1.5 weeks remaining on 4 week liquid/raw vegetable diet .... mostly good .... a few ounces of cheese, one mini candy bar, and I have cooked the vegetables a few times. 2 weeks out !

Heidi Kat. ... I have been stressing about not losing anything over the past two weeks and being concerned it would be a marker for after surgery. So glad to see your success. On the the next two weeks of liquids. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Just wondering if anyone else is/has gone through this -- I have a 30 day pre-op shakes/raw vegetables. Horrendous . BUT ... I have not lost an ounce -- and the other day, put on two pounds (which did come off). Weighing only in the morning, drinking between 60 and 80 ounces, no deviation ... I would love any feedback. Thanks!
  23. So I am brand new here. I just completed my required 4 months of pre-work, lost the required weight, had all the appointments, done all the tests and studies. Now I am waiting for insurance approval (just submitted this week), on the liquid/vegetable diet for the next four weeks with a planned bypass surgery date of 11/16. I am feeling stressed about the approval, my stomach is aching from the pre-op diet, day five of the diet and no weight-loss .... and feeling a bit hopeless now. How did everyone get through this prep period? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  24. Just got approved, so one "weight" is lifted off .... thanks for the feedback. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
