    Just got home from hospital

Hi there, I'm a Londoner too living in Redondo Beach CA. I appreciate the pounds and stones reference lol! I was sleeved on October 25th and down 52lbs. Good luck, you'll do great I know!

    New to this whole thing!

God bless! You've got this! I was sleeved 10/25 and feel so much better already. Keep me posted on your progress [emoji173]

    45...preop, would you wait?

Actually I WOULD wait. I no longer enjoy eating out. I'm 10 weeks post op and eat 4-6 teaspoons of food twice a day, with a Protein drink squeezed in. The smallest amount of food I can buy in a restaurant still means I take home 80% of it. I'm supposed to eat slowly, which I do, but it still only takes me a few minutes to eat my few tiny bites. The cruise will be MISERABLE for you, despite having lost a lot of weight. You have plenty of time, you've waited this long! What's another 12 weeks? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    7 months out

You give the rest of us hope! I'm 7 weeks out and every bite (all five of them) is pain...... can't wait for it all to be behind me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Hi, I've been taking soup but its getting harder and harder to have it because of the pain after only a couple of spoonfuls. Thin liquids are mostly ok. Is this considered an emergency? Do I have a leak? Seeing my surgeon on Tuesday.

    2 weeks out !

No, I haven't had any tests at all post-op. I have to say though, that I think it may have been my hemorrhoids bleeding, they do that quite often. If I had a leak I would be extremely unwell, tachycardia, tachypnea (high heart rate and respiratory rate), hypertensive initially - as a nurse I know I feel too well to have a major leak at this point, but that's not to say it couldn't happen in the future! I will ask my dr about some evaluation though - I didn't have a swallow study either! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you're recovering after such a traumatic experience. I can only drink thin liquids, both Soup and Protein shakes give me a lot of pain, but tea goes down easily. I know it will get better - again thank you so much and good luck in your journey! 2 weeks out !

How do I give a thumbs up or add a new post on here? I want to give you all a "thumbs up" simply for taking the bull by the horns and making your future healthy self a reality! I'm an RN, 9 days out VSG, nothing but problems - I spent an extra 4 days in hospital due to nausea/pain spasms, came home for 3 days, back in the ER yesterday having IV fluids, spent last night having major diarrhea with my first bowel movement in 10 days (curse you, Milk of Magnesia!) and lost around a liter of RED Fluid, now it's morning and I'm feeling a lot better. Yes I know I lost blood from somewhere and I should have gone back to the ER but at 4am I just couldn't do it - I'd had enough of hospitals. More diarrhea just now is a normal color. Anyone else on here having bowel trouble? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    QUESTIONS TO MY SURGEON

Hi shelby's mom, a RNY is Roux En Y (French for "red in there!) gastric bypass. The Y of the word is for the Y-shaped joining of the small intestine to where your stomach used to be after its removed. You'll be left with a small egg-shaped pouch which is effectively your new stomach. Get in everything you'll need BEFORE your surgery - Vitamins, Protein, heat/ice pads etc enough to last for a month at least because you won't want to think about this stuff following surgery. Expect to be slammed psychologically (happens to all of us) but it will pass. The only protein I like is Herbalife which tastes like a diner milkshake and is probably the worst of the Protein drinks out there but it's all I can keep down. Good luck with the surgery! Sleeved 10/25. I ended up in the ER yesterday having IV fluids because I was getting only half my fluids in. Feel like crap today. This is not going to plan. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Rudy, my dr's office said there absolutely should not be any severe pain at this point and if there is its imperative to go and get it checked out. You could have a stricture, abcess forming, or simply excess gas, but better safe than sorry. I'm going to get myself checked out too as I'm feeling very unwell. Let me know how you get on.

Hi, I had my surgery on the 25th and like you, stayed in for an extra few days, went home on the 29th. So far I'm hating it. I hate the pain from drinking, the pain from my right upper port, and the sheer boredom of now being on Soup, milk and cream of wheat for 18 days straight. I know it's temporary (I'm an RN), but I don't care, I feel ill. I haven't had a bowel movement since Oct. 24th, and that can make us feel bad too. Anyway, good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
