Patients of Dr. Felix Spiegel - Help with questions...
texgirl replied to Margoboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Spiegel put my lap band in 5 days ago! I did not have to go on a pre-op diet, but I was on clear liquids for 1 day before the surgery. I came back to work yesterday but I could have been back Monday if I needed to. Honestly, I've had more pain from the sore throat after anesthesia than I've had at my incision sites. Dr. Spiegel will answer whatever questions you have, but you have to be prepared and have your questions ready. -
Oh that's awesome. I'm sure we'll see each other! I am short with short brown/highlighted hair and glasses.
-
I was banded 3/7 too! I'm really feeling good but despise the slimfast and Atkins shakes now. I cannot wait for the moment I get to have soup!

How To Hide Lap Band From Work
texgirl replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to keep it quiet but I was so excited I couldn't keep my mouth shut! -
How funny! My surgery was at University General but I am from the Beaumont area so attended the seminar in his Port Neches office. My post-op is Thursday in his Houston office though.

Hi! I found this board recently and it has helped so much. I am scheduled for surgery this Friday, March 7th. After approximately 3 years of trying to get insurance to pay I have decided to go ahead and pay for it myself. I am very excited/scared/nervous, but mostly excited. I weigh 230lbs and I'm only 5'0" tall.

1 week post-op: how many lbs lost?
texgirl replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on Friday, no weightloss. I don't think I'm actually hungry but really miss food. I can't wait for my creamy soup stage. I'm going back to work tomorrow so I hope that will make it easier to not focus on what I can't have right now. -
Post-op how long until you could go out....
texgirl replied to Hazel-eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really, Sunday was my worst day. I didn't think I'd be able to work on Tuesday but today I got up really feeling good. -
Post-op how long until you could go out....
texgirl replied to Hazel-eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Friday. I was told I could go back to my desk job on Monday but decided to take off until Tuesday. I feel so much better today that I could have gone back. I'm glad I took the extra day though. -
What did you eat today?
texgirl replied to Sherry L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 Slimfasts and Crystal Light. Pandaband, I had surgery on 3/07 and was just noticing how bad my laundry is. I really hope I can get some done tomorrow. -
Cheaper US Lapbanding for self pay!

Dr. Spiegel in Houston is $11,900, but that doesn't include fills. -
Banded 3 Days ago.....Was it the right thing to do???
texgirl replied to xray1028's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor gave me pain and nausea medication. I've taken the pain medicine once and haven't had any nausea. For the most part, I'm okay with just liquid Tylenol. -
I was banded 3/7/08. I can have 1-3 slim fast or atkins shakes a day and clear liquids for 1 week. Week 2 I can start adding in creamy soups like tomato. Week 3 I can have mashed potatos, yogurt and soft fish. Week 4 I can start having regular foods.

Banded 3 Days ago.....Was it the right thing to do???
texgirl replied to xray1028's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone else experienced soreness in their calves? It feels like I took a two hour step aerobics class and I don't understand that pain. All the other aches I have I understand, but I can't figure out the leg pain. -
Giselle, Good luck! I really think the morning of surgery was hardest for me. I don't drink coffee or tea and lived off of diet coke. Since I couldn't have anything but clear liquids the day before I woke up with the worst headache the day of the surgery. It was a 2 hour drive to the hospital. We got there at 6:00 a.m. and I didn't get taken to surgery until about 2:30. So far the headache has been the low point of my experience. I love LBT! It is so great to have people to discuss our experiences with.

He banded me yesterday! I'm home and feeling bloated but okay. I went to him several years ago and couldn't get covered by my insurance. My insurance changed this year and so I decided to try again. When I found that this policy wouldn't cover bariatric surgery either I went ahead and self-paid. I really think I made the right decision.

Drinking Water is even hard
texgirl replied to txaberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one day post op too. Having the same issues. I feel so bloated. All I do is walk from one end of my house to the other and try to make it go away. I'm okay as long as I'm walking or sitting. Getting up and down is so hard though. -
When I told my husband this is what I wanted, his response was "all you need to do is go run two miles every day." He eventually came around after I met with the surgeon and brought home information and made my husband research it for himself. I had my band yesterday. It's taken me three years to get here. Good luck on your journey!

Being Banded tomorrow 3/7/08
texgirl replied to camrynsmommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am being banded tomorrow too. Good luck! I haven't had any shakes yet but I have a large variety to choose from when I need to. -
Hi! I am from the Beaumont area and I'm getting my band tomorrow!!!!!! I can't believe it is finally here. I fought with insurance for 3 years and finally decided to self-pay. Dr. Spiegel is the surgeon and the surgery will be done in Houston. Good luck!
-
LiseSeattle, Congratulations! I want to know all about it. Did you have to go on a liquid pre-op diet? I haven't, I just can't eat the day before surgery.
-
Shortgal, thank you so much for your post. I'm so ready for Friday and I can't wait to be in the regular petite department with you!!!
