I've discovered that in times of high stress the band is very tight. During my hurricane evacuation, when I wasn't sure if I would have a home to go back to, there were two days that nothing but slim fast would go down.

I haven't posted in a long time. I was just able to return home from Hurricane Ike. Hurricane season sucks. My home is good though and we have power on my street. When Hurricane Rita hit it was more like 4+ weeks without power so the power company is going much quicker this time. My weight is holding pretty steady, not losing but not gaining and in these high stress times I think that is pretty good for me. I live in an area that took a direct hit from TS Edourd, then we evacuated for Gustav, but didn't get much wind or rain from that system. We live east of Sabine Pass about 30 miles inland. So many people in the area weren't so lucky.

I had a fill Wednesday and felt no restriction. Then Monday was DS's birthday and I ran out to get him a few donut holes. I ate 2 glazed donut holes and pb'd for an hour. Today I had grilled chicken tenders from Jack in the Box and they went down just fine, but after the tenders I thought I could eat 3 french fries and I the fries had to come up. As long as I stay away from carbs I'm fine. Maybe I got delayed restriction because I certainly didn't have any this weekend.

I wish I could say I'm past this hurdle, but I'm not. Hopefully when I can start exercising again I will start losing again. I had a fill Wednesday and started solids today. Yep, still no restriction. Everything just goes right on down.

HopeinApril, that's great! Sometimes our goals seem so far away, it's great when the scale starts moving. It's hard not to get discouraged when you give it your best and the scale doesn't budge!

Special K - Good luck on that test! Christine, My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I had a fill today. I have only lost 3 lbs in 2 months!!! I was really, really struggling for about a month of that, but I was exercising and making good decisions for the most part. Then I hurt my foot and haven't been able to exercise. As soon as I quit exercising my choices started sliding. Hopefully this fill will help me get back on track. I have 2.8 ccs in a 4 cc band. Ladies in the office were talking about not being able to handle anything more than 1 cc in their bands. I have to say that I'm scared I will get my band completely full and still not have restriction. It was very interesting to see the barium swallow and watch how everything flowed right through the band. I knew the band wasn't stopping me! I guess this is when I need to just say suck it up and quit eating. I need a good a** kicking. 3 lbs in 2 months is completely unacceptable. I didn't spend $12,000 to just lose 40 lbs. Good luck to everyone and thank you for being out there! It helps so much to read everyone's successes and failures.

Fenton, I'm having the same problems. For so long it was just easy to make those good decisions. It's becoming harder and harder and I'm not sure why. I'm not gaining, but I'm not losing. And I've hurt my foot and can't exercise. Maybe that's the key to it all, I keep telling myself that when my foot gets better I'll get back on track.

Scrappy, You really look amazing! Congratulations!!!

OMG! Give that dog a bone. What a terrifying experience!

Everyone is doing so good! I've hurt my foot so I'm not exercising until after I see someone about it next week. I seem to stay stalled, but at least I'm not gaining. I was supposed to have a fill last week but it was cancelled and I couldn't get another appointment until August 13th. Hopefully that will kick start more losing. In other news, we are facing a tropical storm/hurricane this week. Hopefully it won't cause too much damage. In 2005 we suffered a direct hit from Hurricane Rita and after evacuating, couldn't come back home for over 2 weeks. When we were able to get back, there were 2 trees on the house. Rita was a Category 3 though and hopefully, Edouard will stay a tropical storm.

Fenton, Welcome back! Is anyone else having problems with this thread? When I get on this thread at home my internet gives me an error and shuts down. It's only this thread though, nothing else gives me a problem.

Congrats Scrappy! That's really, really awesome. Today has been a good day for me. I've done pretty good with my eating and I walked 4 miles. Hurricane Dolly has provided us with some lower temps and a nice breeze. It was still in the 90s today but nothing like it has been.

I think Charlie is a great name for him! He'll love it. Anyway, I'm struggling. This last month has been hard. For so long it was easy to make those good choices and exercise was fun, but lately I've noticed more bad choices and the exercise has gotten really hard for me to get going. I need to get another fill.

OMG WCM! That's ridiculous. You're 35 lbs from goal and she asked you that? What an idiot!

Ugh. I sense we are all feeling kind of crabby this morning. We'll get through this. I lost hair after having a c-section. I wonder if it has to do with anaesthesia. Also, my doctor is sending me for an ultrasound on my thyroid because it feels enlarged. Maybe they'll be able to do something about it. My friend who didn't have surgery has lost 48 lbs since the end of March and hasn't noticed any hairloss.
-
My hair loss has begun. Pray for me because I will not handle this well. Refresh my memory, there's not really anything I can do about it, right? I get about 100 grams of protein a day.

Fenton, I don't think 2 slices of pizza is all that terrible. Seriously, how many did you eat at a time before being banded? I typically ate 4 pieces. 1 slice is best but you could have done worse than 2!
-
Annie, you look excellent! Go with it!

Kerri, That post brought tears to my eyes! You can do this. I know that I do so much better during the week when I have my schedule planned out precisely. It's the weekends that those extra calories creep in. Get back into that routine and you'll be down again in no time! Big hugs!

Thanks!!!

Yesterday on Good Morning America they talked about the study. It said that you can even text yourself to keep track. It's not the way you get it written down, but the fact that you are accountable for what you put in your mouth. I have found that when I'm away from the computer and don't log my intake online as I go I tend to not log everything. When I do that I definitely get a distorted view of what I've eaten. I think keeping a pad to write on during the day would be a big help if you can't log it as you go. As far as carbs go, I find that breads and pastas are the only thing that give me real restriction. I can eat as much chicken, fish and beef as I want. I'm still looking for that sweet spot.
