So made dinner, doing laundry while DH snores. Go figure! Cripe DH and DS didn't even bother to put anything away. Why is it when DH cooks I have to clean up and when I cook I have to clean up? lol Yeap I'm complaining hahaha I'll get over it though...kinda have to huh? lol That's ok....I'll stay in the house and snore when he has to cut the lawn or shovel lol

Hey everyone...it's been a long time since I posted in here and I was hoping we could get the support group back for another get together. We tried this before but, maybe the summer months played a role in us not being able to get a date straight. Anyone interested in a support group in Taunton, MA again? I'm willing to host again if you'd like. Let me know Sherry -

Hi Donna, The witch ride is a motorcycle charity ride that went approximately 30 miles or more. We ended up in Salem Massachusetts Hence calling it the witch ride plus it's always in October. Cold isn't the word for it!!! Freeeeezing is more like it haha. Each rider pays $30 including the passengers. So they say there were approximately 3-4thousand bikes. So figure 3500 x $30 = $105K raised to go towards MDA. Amazing! I have to say I think bikers are the biggest charity folks around...most of them anyway. There are so many charity runs and we usually do at least 4-5 a year. We love the Ronald McDonald house run, 2 MDA runs, a Cancer Run and Toys for tots. Sometimes we do even more than that...just depends on the weather and if we have plans or not. It's alot of fun really. How is everyone doing? Man it sure is getting cold. Might do some baking tonight myself. Pillsbury had a new lower sugar cake mix and frosting made with splenda I might try. I usually bake for friends at work during the holidays so it will be nice if the calories can be cut back with this. We'll see how it tastes and I'll let you know. I'm also searching around my many internet recipe websites for something different...although the taco Soup is really calling my name and my cold bones hahaha. Made Fish Chowder last weekend...it was yummy and lots of good Protein. SO EASY PEASY to make too!!!

Michaele - The witch ride was actually the 2nd charity ride we did this year. They had one during the summer too from another location. Its amazing when you see so many bikes out all together and there are bikes for miles and miles during the rides. I'm not brave enough to ride my own during one yet so I just hop on my hubby's. Jess - Did you find the chat room? Plans for the weekend....I don't have any specific plans which is cool for me. If DH goes on a ride I'll probably up in a few hours or work. Too dang cold to go for a ride for me especially after freezin on the bike last weekend. I did order chaps through ebay...damn things are kinda snug. Stupid "made in china" sizing regardless of what the measurements say. That part drives me nuts. They weren't expensive thank goodness but, I'm going to have to order another pair but I think this time I'll go to a shop and pay the regular price. At least I'll know they freaking fit. Maybe someday I'll fit into these others...if I ever get this band working right again that is

Jess, Just peek over to the left of your screen under Members Section you'll see a link for LBT's chat  I go in there once in a while to make sure things are going ok. Yesterday Alex had to work on it and I believe why this website/forum was reallllllllly slllloooowwwww. Just peeking in now and it seems to be running at the right speed. Whew! Thank goodness because it's aggrevating lol

and the emails are weird. Its sending me to the beginning of the thread. I know Alex was working on the chats today and was still doing so just an hour or so ago. I'll try to get in there though.

Early voting? We can't do that here. I don't know what's going to happen with this band of mine....I have to call next Tuesday to see if I can get in there. Unfortunately no appointments can be booked earlier than I have so I have to try calling every week and hope someone cancels. THEN I'm going to test another fill...if that fill brings reflux again...I think I'm done  Keeping my fingers crossed that's not the case. This really stinks and I'm nervous about it but, what can I do really. Just keep my chin up and TRY to keep more weight from coming back. I was thinking about the sleeve procedure but, not sure if that will happen. I don't think insurance will pay for another bariatric surgery and I just don't have the cash to pay for it myself. Things are pretty tight here now.....so much so that it's pretty scarey and I"m sure that stress isn't helping but again...one day at a time  Betty it will be nice to see pics :cool2: I bet you look awesome. Did I tell ya'll I went on a Witch Ride sunday? Charity ride for MDA and man oh man I was frozen like a popsicle! My thighs were so freaking red that they tingled for hours, were still cold after a hot shower and it took 2 days to get the chill out of my bones. burrrrrrrrrrrrrr It's only 34 degrees here right now (8:20pm) and it's suppose to go down to 20 tonight!!!! burrrrrr I already have my winter jammies on, with a winter bathrobe and winter sock. Thats N.E. for ya :w00t: Beautiful colors up here right now though Well, gotta go get my laundry out of the dryer. Hope you're all doing well and shrinking! Hugs!

you have two here Pat...do you need me to post them and number them then you can explain? Did you want me to post them here or our picture thread?

That's always how work works Betty! Every time I take a vacation I hate going back because of the backlog. That's why if I'm not going anywhere I end up working or checking emails from home. UGH. I wanna see your haircut! I'm looking for something different and don't know what to do. I got this cut that the front is longer than the back, the back is kinda cropped but, in the end I can't stand how the front of it winds up in my face.
-
I've read quite a bit about it and had it been around when I had my surgery and was as well known at it is now...I would have opted for that instead of the band. Only because trying to get this thing adjusted is very difficult and I have to rely on the surgeon versus a visit to my pcp if I have an issue. As it is now anytime I'm sick I have to contemplate if it's a bariatric issue or PCP issue...makes it hard sometimes. Have you researched it? There is a sleeve section in here now too. I should poke around there myself. Problem is I don't think insurance covers the sleeve right now. It's too new. I asked my surgeon about it and he said he's done 4-5 so far and hasn't been paid yet for it by insurance. That's not a good thing as not sure I could afford to do this on my own :tongue_smilie:
-
I already have a season lottery ticket my friend :tongue_smilie: Pack...hell we win we're off and running and buy clothes while we are there hahaha
-
send em and I'll fix em for ya Pat!
-
Now....Darc...if you and I could make a vacation out of sleeve surgery in Mexico...that might be something to consider :smile2: How to pay for it hmmm gotta think of that one. One step at a time lol

Hey everyone....hope everything is going well. Just popping in. My nutrionist emailed me at work today to see if I still wanted to participate in the Bari-Buddy program. What that is is they give out my name, number and email to other people ready for surgery or who had it so they can have a buddy to call, email or chat with. So far only one person has called but, then again they had my wrong email addy haha. I just gave them the right one today. So when I called her to let her know I'll help where I can, she made the mistake of asking how I was doing UGH. Well if you consider putting on 22-23 pounds since 1/1/08 doing ok then I'm fine. dang nabbit. Soooo she's been there through my reflux crap and has been a big help and again she was today. I ended up making an appointment for the day before Thanksgiving to get a fill. WTF was I thinking? haha. I'll be on liquids for thanksgiving? My appointment was Dec 10 but, luckily I did talk to them because they were going to cancel it as my doc won't be around. Nov 26th was the soonest I could get. So now I have to call them every Tuesday to see if someone cancelled for Wed. Wed is the only day he sees patients for fills. It's to the point I wish we had a fill center here with all the fancy gadgets to watch the fill go in, flouro whatever it is. I want Pats doc :wink2: So anywho I'm going to try a fill again and if the reflux starts up again I'm demanding a flouro or something to check on this thing! Right now it's as if I don't have a band that's how quick food slips right through. NUTS! I ordered the 10 minute trainer DVDs from BeachBody...hoping I'll push myself to do at least 10 freaking minutes of something and stick to it. Yeap.....we'll see. I may have just lost weight in my wallet lol. There is a new gym going up that's on my way home from work....$10 a month. Thinking about it...thinking if I go right after work without stopping home first I have a shot of doing it. Because once I'm home that's it I'm done for the night. This lazy ars doesn't wanna move. This weekend Betty my only plans are to buy a pair of chaps (God I hate those things when ya got a nice hanging belly to go in that gap!!!!) but, we're going on a charity ride to Salem MA. They call it the witch run. We have to leave at 6:15am and we'll freeze if I don't get something. Hmmm might invest in long johns but...then I won't be able to button my jeans. Oh the dilemma. oh well....I have to get going already. Worked late today and now I've thrown things all off! Got house stuff to get done! Hugs to all!

Oh you're not the first person that learned the hard way the difference between chewing well and eating slow and REALLY taking small bites, chewing EXTRA well and eating EXTRA slow Yeap been there. After every fill you learn it over again and again as the opening for food to pass gets smaller and smaller. Good luck with your fill

Lapband Removed after 2 weeks and major complications
SherryW replied to Marienola's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Marie so sorry to hear this. I do hope you heal up quick. Was it the surgery that caused the issue for you? Did they tell you why this happened? -
Hey Pat - went to go start my bike and the battery wasn't strong enough. DH was gone and I didn't know how to charge it myself so, so much for that. I was going to take it out alone for the first time to go do some errands but, that got squashed. It was a beautiful day here yesterday too dang nabbit. So are you going for a fill? I wish my doc did it they way yours does. I really need to push to make sure this thing in me is still ok. Betty - How are you feeling? What ya got cooking this weekend? Not sure if I'm going to throw something together or not yet. Might be a lazy day for me although I've had a craving for Pasta eFagioli. I made three Soups recently though and still some left so we need to finish those up. I ended up freezing quite a bit so we'd have it for later. Hmmmm I'll have to see what my taste buds tell me later :crying: Eileen - When is Disney? With all that you have to do...I'm thinking you're packing. Am I right? Jetti - How are you doing? Any more trips planned for you this year? All that exercise enthusiasm...can you send it my way? Still haven't figure out a way to get myself motivated to do that everyday. I keep telling myself it will pay off but, WHY? doesn't that work? grrrr Maybe you have a trick or key for me. I know this is KEY for me too. You look great and you should be very proud of all your hard work! Jackie - welcome. I don't have Aetna either sorry I'm of no help. Hope that all goes well for you. NJSoldier - You're right we do get quiet in here. Where are you? haha I think we all get so busy or in my case I work on a computer all day and dead at night. I don't get in here with enough time to do all the personals I'd like so when I do I take up pages...like now haha. How are you doing? Healing nicely? DJ - The Soup is great and you can change the meat from ground beef to ground turkey if you want. My son likes the beef so I leave that in there because it's one way to get him to eat the veggies. It's filling too if you make it the way I do anyway haha. Most of my soups are pretty thick. I have to say out of all the soups I make the taco soup is my favorite. Kat - Glad you're feeling better and you're welcome. I know I appreciate it when one of my Joisy gals PMs me when they notice I need it  You've certainly been through alot...scarey stuff. I'm just glad you're ok. Seems like I've known my Joisy goils a long long time. I still laugh at how I ended up in here...being a newbie to the board and asking the questions I think are silly now haha. Trish - Sounds like you have alot of your plate and I'm not talking food. Remember to take at least 5 min for yourself, focus on you, breath!!! You're worth it! We're here if ya need us girl! Don't stay away too long it's always good to vent and we have shoulders (or in this case eyes) to lean on Hugs! Well DH just told me Breakfast is ready so HELLO to everyone else. Hope you're all doing well and shrinking! HUGS

I've had my band almost three years now and I can honestly say maybe once or twice I've leaned against something in front of me like the kitchen counter to wash the kitchen window over my sink and I leaned on my port. You notice it quick, doesn't hurt more uncomfortable and so you stop. Other than that I barely know it's there unless I go looking for it or I'm getting a fill. You shouldn't have to worry about it once you're healed :crying: You can definately do abdominal work etc. Will you notice the port....sometimes if you're building up that much muscle I would think you could but, as far as having to be extra careful because of it? I wouldn't think so but, best advice for that would be your doc. If you poke around in the before and after pics you'll see people in there that obviously have worked out pretty hard so I'm guessing they didn't have any issues  Best to ask your doc on that part of it. Good luck with your band journey!

Oh and the only thing that changes for sex after surgery is it gets better cause you're losing weight so your bodies get even closer  hee hee
-
Why would sex after surgery be dangerous? I guess I don't understand why you would think it would be. You have to heal first from your incisions...and there will be some discomfort for a while until you're all healed up inside but, it's whatever is comfortable for you. When the port is sewn in place and healed you can do whatever you want. If we can exercise, after we heal you can certainly have sex no problem. It took me a good 5 weeks before the internal incision part felt ok but that was me. Everyone is different and some heal faster! Good luck

I was told from the get go no NSAIDS are to be taken with the band. Probably for that exact reason you're having issues for. I'm sorry if you weren't told the same thing at the time. When I take something for pain I have to take something liquid or chewable. Have you tried taking something to coat your stomach such as Pepto just to help settle it a little? I know you said you can't keep much down but, a teaspoon at a time maybe? Hope you feel better soon!
