Happy birthday!!!!
-
Congratulations on your new banding  Good luck with everything.
-
Go to your states thread and see if anyone there has had a surgeon near you? I know that's what I did while searching for information.
-
Welcome to LBT. Lots of info here to pick and choose from. Good luck.

I think the more information you read and absorb the better. All the information will help you know what questions to ask your surgeon or bariatric center and help you in chosing a good one. There are pros and cons to everything we do in life. Sure some of the "bad" things that can happen are certainly scarey but, there are many cases where none of those bad things happened. For me I had to look at where I was today and where I'd be without trying and I decided this is something I just had to try and do for myself. Only you will be able to make that decision but, I suggest making it after you've found a surgeon you trust and who has a great background in the field. Good luck with your decision

How much pain/discomfort am I suposed to be in?
SherryW replied to Nickysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nickysmom, I had surgery on 2/13 and I'm still uncomfortable. I found Gas X helped with the gas but, I know I still have some thats stuck as well. The calf pain you're having I had as well and it is from laying in bed because we really can't move much. Trying to get up and down from bed has been a doozy too. 3 days after my surgery I too was asking myself "what the heck did I do to myself" and cried about it. A friend told me it's because the anesthia was wearing off and that can cause a little depression. I found my liquid pain killer was actually making me sick to my stomach so I switched to liquid tylenol and that helped that problem. I still have this wicked and I mean...breath stopping...sharp pulling on my left side that I don't know what the heck the cause is but, someone here suggested it could be a stitch. I'm assuming it's in the inside because there are steri strips on the outside. It certainly makes it difficult to do the walking people tell you to do to dissapate the gas. Some people just heal up really quickly, others don't. You can certainly find help and encouragement here  I suggest you get some Gas X, they have chewables but what I had in the house were the gel caps and I punctured them and squirted the medicine inside onto a spoon and took it that way. It definately helped and made the rest of the uncomfortabliness more tolerable. Good luck with everything and I hope you feel better soon. I just wanted you to know there are others out here going through what you are :cake: Sometimes it's scarey when you think it's only you :cake: -
lol you're bad Pat. My hubby is sitting ansiously awaiting the start of the race just so he can fall asleep. Grrrrr told him I wanted to get out of this house today and walk some. Wanted to go to a store because it's just too dang cold out there to walk. I'd be tightening up my tummy so much from the shivers I'd be in pain all night lol. Rather walk where it's warm but, nooooo the race is starting in 15 min can't do that grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I said well ya gonna fall asleep anyway so take me and then fall asleep. No go UGH. Funny if it were the other way around I'd of gotten up off that couch and taken him but, I suppose that a woman's nurturing ways. If there is reincarnation I wanna come back as a male dog lol A lean one of course hahaha Oh well guess I have to wait for my warm walk and then I'll make sure it's extra long! Hmmmm, honey should I buy the super pads or the slim ones? Can you please get me those tampons? Oh which blush do you think would look best? Oh and I need new panties and then after that I need some new scrapbooking stuff. (heh heh devil in me lol) He's ok I'll keep em, after all who else will make me cream of wheat at the butt crack of dawn lol. hmmm you gals might be right about the stitch pullin. Oh lucky me just another reason to get rid of this excess FAT lol I still think it's a MAN in there pull on the tubin heh heh. Gotta be a man cause a woman would be rubbin the owey away lol. I've had some people tell me their doc gave them some kind of gurdle band type thing to wear after surgery. Did any of you have that?
-
Hey Marcelle, I think we all have the "what the heck did I do to myself" phase that we go through. I had mine on the 3rd and 4th day. When we feel better I'm sure we'll feel better about it as well. Good luck!

Doing pretty good today. I wish I knew what this pulling was in my tummy cause it scares me. Its not the port cause thats lower....wondering if its where the band is place and attached cause they cut into some extra skin or whatever in order to attach it so the band isn't directly around my stomach? Oh well....right now it feels like a little man in there tuggin on the port tubing when I bend funny lol. It's zero degrees here this morning burrrrrrrrr. My hubby says if you go outside your boogers freeze hahaha. (Old Calvin and Hobbes cartoon I love) I think one of my friends is coming by to visit me. She said I'm her guineapig for this procedure. She's seriously thinking of having this done. I pointed her to this website and OH to look around. I just hope I'm going to be a good example like some of the people here  Well....off to check some of the threads and then hit the shower and try to look presentable instead of looking like I got hit by a Mack Truck lol. Hugs

Hi Everyone, Been resting today mostly...getting there slowly but surely. I too have noticed some of the boards are a bit out there. I have a tendency just to not participate in those. I enjoy this one and show support where I can in others. Half the time the fights are over and erased before I see them and that's fine with me I think people need to THINK before they post some stuff. I mean truly do we need to know about someones private parts if it has nothing to do with the band? lol Oh well...what do I know I"m a newbie lol. I'll just stick with my friends here and pick and choose the threads I read I think some in the other threads just like to see their name on the boards and see that they are highest in postings hope everyone here is doing ok. And ya know.....I think everyone should put whatever they want in their signature line when it comes from their heart and isn't purposely hurting anyone. Hugs to all

I just got my bad this past week. I hope and pray I can do as well as you have. Congratulations and you just inspired me like you wouldn't beleive. God Bless!

Boss is a good guy!! Listen to what he did!
SherryW replied to skbishop78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like he's taken time to think about what you're going to go through. Are you still only getting 3 days off? I had my surgery on 2/13 and it's now 2/18 and I'm still pretty sore. (Of course my monthly thing came along 2 days after surgery so it's made healing longer.) I can't imagine not taking at least a week off but, seems others have had a better go at healing than I have. -
Welcome Browneyes32. Lots of info here for sure. Just take a peek around and you'll definately find what you need and more lol

Congratulations!!!

Hey everyone, Sorry I haven't been around. Yesterday was not a good day :hurt and I have to thank Eileen  for helping me along. I didn't want to post it all here because I didn't want to seem like a  cry baby but, man I was hurting and feeling pretty low. Eileen told me you folks would understand and that you all also helped her. I had no idea that anesthia could cause some of that down feeling until she told me. Lets just say a combination of the surgery, coming off anesthia, getting my period and not taking my pain meds took it's toll. But between Eileen's email back to me and my best friends phone call I took my pain meds and began to feel much better. Hell the surgery isn't as drastic as some but, it was still surgery and my body took quite a hit. It will get better and until it is I need to stay on the drugs lol. Thanks again Eileen! Cindy - I like your new tickler. Mine is the same as yours in that it just shows what I need to lose not my weight. I really don't see why someone would have a problem with that but, alot of the times I don't pay attention to those threads when people complain about stuff like that. They really need to get busy with other things I hope you're feeling a bit better and a goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain you still have in your heart regarding losing your mom. It certainly made me think and I'm glad I wrote my mom a letter before my surgery. You're sharing your feelings here will help us all realize to appreciate our moms while we have them and I thank you for that. Ann - Good luck with your upcoming operation. I have to tell you I'd be such a wreck and I admire your attitude about it all. You are truly positive thinking and that will definately help you in the long run with anything that comes your way. Betty - I'm doing ok..today anyway lol. The liquids I'm allowed to have cannot have any lumps in them. I can't go to mushies until I see my surgeon again on 3/1. What's going on on the job front? What the heck is taking them so long to know you're perfect for it  Patty - Sounds like your  in diguise came through. What a wonderful thing to do You're truly blessed with that. No plans here for the weekend except healing up some more before I have to go back to work on Tuesday. Pat - Ohhh to fly like an Eagle. That must of been a great site! My hubby and I love eagles and all other birds. We have 6 feeders for the birds outside. We love to see which birds we can attact. During the spring and summer we have an additional 2 feeders for the humming birds. They are so much fun to watch and what pictures we've been able to take. We also have 2 squirrel feeders They are funny to watch. Now that we have our dog though...they won't come on the deck so we had to move them to the back. Diane - Hows the foot? Hope it's feeling better. Irene - Sounds like you're doing much better than me on the healing side. Faster anyway. My friend had lap-band surgery on the 6th and she's just now starting to feel herself she said. So I guess it takes almost 2 weeks to feel better. This dang "womanly thing" has set me back a bit. I get enough pain from that regularly never mind adding it to the healing of the surgery. Good to know you're doing well :clap2: Eileen - :yo: thank you so much for your help this week. Ohhh to have the boss gone for a few days must be heaven :banana . I know I enjoy it when the account manager is off for a few days. I'm hoping he takes some time off when I get back so I can get caught back up hahaha. Anyone I missed - I hope you're doing well! Thanks everyone for listening....Thanks for being there..the support here is awesome. I've grown to love and appreciate you all. hugs Sherry

Good luck and best wishes! I just had my surgery this past Monday and had exactly the same thoughts except my son is going to be 16....we're mom's we always worry about them You'll be fine and dandy and on the losing side before you know it.
-
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. So sorry to hear.

Hmmm I'm going let this thread stay and I'll start a new one for March if that's ok with everyone. I'm a little slow hahahah didnt' realize this was the january 2006 thread and I never started a new one for Mass lol Guess I was busy planning my banding
-
Hey Jessi we were banded on the same day. Before I left the hospital they said I could go to stage 3 which is basically all liquids with no lumps. I don't get to the mushies stage until after my post op which is on 3/1. Good luck with your band
-
Hello and welcome Jill. I was just banded this past Monday and I'm still hurtin. I went really well though per my surgeon, no problems at all. I was a boring case hahaha. Anywho, I had mine done with Dr. Jones through Beth Israel. Best place to be is a hospital in Boston if you ask me. Good luck with your appointments and getting a date. The Psychologist eval is nothing if it's anything like the one at BIDMC. You'll have to fill out a survery and then sit with the LCSW for about 30-45 min. They just want to make sure you're having the surgery for the right reasons. Good luck with it all. Sherry

Congratulations and I just joined you on 2/13 in band land

Just had my surgery 2/13 with Dr. Jones at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston Mass. Too sore to get up and weigh myself yet lol.

Question: Was I too hard on the hubby?
SherryW replied to skbishop78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you need to sit with him and explain that it's hard enough and as much as he thinks he's joking...it's not easy for you and you need his support at this time. -
Oh lordy I need to cough so bad but, it just hurts too much. Funny...I didn't think I'd be able to feel every swallow of something that goes down but I can. I can take a lot of pain but, ohhh doggy I feel like I was hit by a mack truck today lol. I'm sure it will go away soon enough Hope everyone else is doing well. Glad to hear you're healing well Bene.
