    Did I slip my band??????????????

Magic....if you were banded on 2/22/o6 it is possible the swelling of your stomach went down so you don't have as much restriction. Best thing to do is call your physician and let them know you vomited and that you're restriction has gone away. They'll be the best to give you advice.

    What do husbands think

I've also been blessed with a very supportive hubby. When I was first talking to him about WLS he was very attentive and asked questions regarding it. He told me he'd support me 100% and do whatever he could to help me on with this journey. Right from the start he told me he loved me for me just as I was but, if this surgery would help me love myself more then he was there to do whatever was needed. He was the one that got me to do the walking and exercising before my surgery. He took the time from work or arranged his schedule to drive me to Boston for every visit, every appointment. He was there when they put me under and there when I woke up. He listened to my silly talking through my morphined state in the hospital and listened to the same thing over and over as I woke up and fell asleep. hahaha. During these past 2.5 weeks of all liquids he's helped me pack my lunch to make sure I had what I needed. Made me cream of wheat and soup etc. He was with me today at my post-op visit to hear the good new that I've lost 15% of my access weight and cheered me on. I'm looking forward to this losing journey and I know he'll be there with me even when the scale refuses to move...holding me and reminding me he loves me and I'm worth this effort. I'm a lucky gal....and I want this for the both of us Hugs to you all and good luck on your own personal journeys.

Today is the first day I actually felt like my ole self again That's a good thing. The scale is moving too so that's making me feel better. Post-op visit tomorrow. It's late so I didn't do personals but, I've kept up with ya. Ohhh and umm tomorrow...heh heh...I'll actually look for the March Chat so I won't be lost hahahaha. Sweet dreams my friends! Eileen your family is in my thoughts and prayers for MIL to get well and feeling up to par soon. Cindy, I think the gun thing is a great idea. I'm so afraid of them that it would probably do me good to take a lesson and learn all about them so that my fear would be gone. You go girl! What's next on that list? Donna, The Medical ID bracelet I'm told is good to have because we have something different in our bodies that wouldn't otherwise be known to the EMT team that comes to get you :scared: Mine just says: Adjustable Gastric Band (Lap-Band) My surgeons name, Bariatric Centers name and number. My hubby thought it was a good idea incase they try to pump anything out of your stomach or scope you. I got one from Lauren's Hope that looks just like a regular bracelet but has the ID underneath your wrist. So most would only see the pretty part. It has pink Austrian crystals, pearls and dividers...very pretty. Now that I have it I can make more bracelet parts myself to match some outfits too heh heh. Patty, I hope you're little one is feeling better and I hope you enjoyed your "mommy me" time. I don't get that very often so I do enjoy it when I do. So far so good for me with the shakes/protein drinks. Getting tired of all liquids but, I'm managing. Certainly surprising how long SF pudding lasts in your tummy and keeps you feeling full right now. Thats about the thickest food I'm allowed to eat right now. Betty - Boy your cooking sounds so good. My hubby says I'm tortouring myself watching the food network so much hahaha. Actually I told him I'm preparing for my next "real" meals and i want to make sure since I won't be able to eat much that what I do eat is VERY tasty Pat - How goes it? Are you rested after chasin the grandbabies? Bene - Tacos? YUM! MY DH and DS went to taco bell the other night on our way to Staples. I made sure to drink my shake before we went. It wasn't too bad watching them eat them until I hear DH say mmmmmmmmm. I just looked at him and said "ya know, I can do this with out problems but, that's just not nice" His next bite..."Yuck that was gross" hahaha. My son felt terrible and said we can eat this at home mom so you don't have to sit there. I just explained to him I have it in my head that this is only for a short time and I'm better off following the rules my doc gave me. I'll get to eat the insides of that taco again Right now....I'm sooo wanting the top off of a slice of pizza hahaha. I guess I have in my head to stay away from the Carbs so I'm trying really hard to keep that though Howdy dooo to everyone else. I hope all is going well for ya Went to BJs to get more Water and some diet snapple for something different. Had a problem with some pureed Soup yesterday that didn't want to stay down....ohhhh boy did I pace the hallway! It worked though Won't be eating...scratch that, drinking that again hahah I'll stick with my shakes for now I think :bananadoggywow: Hugs everyone!

What did you tell your co-workers?

I've kept telling my co-workers to a minimum. Two in my own group know because I needed their help in covering my work while I was out and my boss knows. I'm just not ready to deal with all the questions from others plus co-workers can be so caddy sometimes that I just don't want to deal with it yet. I'll tell them when I feel the time is right IF I feel they'd be ok with knowing and not be monitoring me lol

Howdy folks, Hope everyone is doing well. It's dang chilly here..skip that...it's dang COLD here and we're expected to have snow in a short while. Today I've had my Slim Fast Low Carb shake at 7:30 some Water in between and just now at 2:19 I'm having chicken and dumpling soup (Pureed of course UGH) which is just too dang hot to eat....skip that....drink right now lol. I was able to get my hair dyed today thank God because it desparately needed it and then I dropped my puppy off at the doggie salon to be beautified :scared: She always comes back smelling so good she's my house freshener for a few days hahaha. Took a trip to Walmart and walked my butt off in there since I was alone. First time driving since I got my band. Let me just say, it wasn't very comfy but, I did it. It's really aggravating how it's just that one area that hurts and I don't feel a thing anywhere else. Oh well hopefully it will feel better next week. I just got my new ID bracelet from Lauren's Hope. Wow is it pretty. It has pink Austrian crystals with pearls. Has anyone else gotten a Medical ID bracelet after being banded? Well...going to surf the boards and then maybe take a nap. Ohhhh lordy it just started snowing Have a great day my friends!
  11. Hmmm I think I was a size 12 as a sophomore in highschool ohhhhhhhhh that was a long long time ago lol. Congratulations YOU GO GIRL!!!

    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

Hey Everyone, Haven't posted in a while. I was banded 2/13/06 and there is still a bit of pain in the area just below my left ribcage. I started back to work this past Tuesday and luckily for me my boss told me she didn't want to see me in there full days. That actually helped because let me tell ya that area was really sore after sitting at a desk for 5-6 hours. I worked a full day Friday and I could definately tell a difference. Much stiffer when I went home but, at least I can take it easy today. Other than occassional left shoulder pain I'm doing ok. I still think theres a bunch of gas in me that I haven't been able to get rid of though. GasX helped some but, this is going to have to take it's own course I guess. Each doctor definately has his/her own food plan. I was on clear liquids for 1/2 a day on my last day in the hospital then told I could go to full liquids meaning Soups, blended cottage cheese, yogurt no fruit type stuff. I'll be on this until 2 weeks (Until 3/1) then I'm suppose to be on mushies for 3 weeks then I can move to the regular stuff. They say you need this because the less your stomach has to work to digest food the more it will sit still so the stitches inside can heal. My doc used a method (not sure the name) where they use extra skin/fat (?) so that the band isn't just around your stomach. It hads like a cushion to the band which helps with prevention of erotion. Those stitches help hold the band in place so it's important that they heal up first before the tummy needs to do aerobics to digest your food  I thought that was interesting and makes me want to stick to the diet he has me on. I'm down 19 pounds since the start of this whole thing so that makes me happy. (Gained like 8 pounds with surgery...all that Fluid they pump into you lol) I still feel like this is a dream and still afraid I could fail at this attempt to lose weight too. God help me! Anyone else get hiccups more now that they are banded? I've noticed I have. They don't last long but, it's annoying  Hugs to all and I wish you the best with your bands! Sherry

Howdy Bandayed Sorry to hear about the plateau but, I bet ya have results very soon. But YOU'VE DONE GREAT! I hope I do as well :couch2: I just got my band on 2/13 at BIDMC w/Dr. Jones and I'm finally starting to feel more like myself. Still a deep brusing thing or something going on under my left side ribs but, still doing much better. I can tell ya I'm tired of liquids hahaha. I have to wait until 3/1/06 for my post-op visit and hopefully then they'll tell me I can have something with substance to it. My boss has been super! I went back to work on Tuesday this week and she outright told me she didn't want me working full days. To take 1/2 days and make sure I heal up and get better. I thought wow...but in the meantime I'm thinking OMG how will I ever catch up with my work lol. Everyone says...it's time to take care of you Sherry, take the time she tells you too. But....I guess I'm just not used to putting myself first. (Kinda why I'm in the shape I am I suppose ) I had a great experience with BIDMC and all the staff members there. They were great!

I did it!!!! 50 lbs gone!!!!!!

50 pounds is definately something to be proud about and anyone that would complain about you posting it should just skip the thread then. I mean....Heck I LOVE seeing things like this because it WILL help me. It pushes me along to do what I have to do. I actually copied your ideas and habits you have listed and saved them in a file I have here at home on my computer. I want to look back on the successful people when I'm feeling I'm not doing well. I want to be able to peek at their words and goals and dreams and how they did it to see if there is anything there I can use to help myself get to my own goals. I suppose if someone is down and out because they aren't losing, heck we all would be after going through all this, but, if you're not in the mood to hear about someone elses success then just move on to the next thread that tickles your fancy. I just don't get why people get so upset. Don't change anything, don't feel bad for posting or even worry about what you've said here. You didn't hurt anyone by posting this, heck to me, you've helped more people move towards their goal. YOU GO GIRL!!!!! Congratulations!

Hi Panioman...unfortunately its luck of the draw in there lately. I was lucky enough to get in there and there were like 12 people there but, only 4 of us talking. All of the sudden the other 8 blipped off the screen. I think people think they've logged out but in actuallity they are still there, then the system boots them. Keep trying, we'll all get the hang of this

Hey Dylan's mom, I'm not even from NJ and these wonderful folks welcomed me with open arms even with my mistake in posting hahaha. I've been with LBT maybe 2.5 months now and this thread is pretty much the one I've learned to trust and count on. These folks are wonderful I already love em all. I've pretty much picked and choosed the threads I wanted to read and if I saw a bit of trash then I just left it..sometimes we just have to do that. Sorry you've been through some heck, seems it's always the same posters causing that aye? Even us newerbies can see I just hope that others learn to do what I've done and just pick and chose the info you need for yourself. I'm glad you came here and I'm glad the little birdie told you because that little birdie(S) lol probably is one of the ones that's helped me very much. gotta go to work now...UGH 1st day back and I already apparently shut my alarm off without knowing lol. Maybe the anesthia is coming out of the fat and putting me back to sleep hahahahaah Love ya all and have an awesome day!!!

Howdy everyone, Feeling much better today just got that dang pull. Called the docs and they said the incision where I'm feeling this is the one they use alot. There is a lot of tunnelling and manuvering from that one spot so alot a brusing happens and it's not my port site either so I'm not pulling that our of wack. That made me feel better but, dang I'm looking forward to when its gone Tammy, sounds like you really need to get something else in ya hon. Your body isn't getting enough nurishment and that could be keeping you down and from healing up faster. Why don't you give your doc a call and see if they can see you sooner or if they will recommend upping your intake to something thicker? It's worth a try. Definately let them know what you're going through. I wish you the best in feeling better soon! Eileen ohhh THOSE meeting days UGH. I head to work tomorrow and man I know I'm going to basically have to go through a debriefing of everything that happened while I was out, what needs to be done and then the million questions everyone has held onto until I got back. Gosh I'm tired already lol. Then...THE meetings ...oh lordy they are going to put me to sleep lol. Betty...it's still very cold here too. burrrrr I'm having some cocoa right now to warm me up a bit Everyone else...I hope you're having a wonderbar day!

How come so few use the chatroom?

I've gone there several times and only once was someone else there to chat with. It's a shame it's not used more because truly it would be a great tool to help each other out. I even tried putting up a post stating I was in there just in case anyone wanted to chat. That was the one time when others came in. Maybe we'll have to do that again and see?
  22. The only way you'll know for sure if you want the surgery is by doing as much research as possible. Read through the threads here, go to other sites, even look at your local hospital websites. Many have information there as well and if you call they'll send out a packet of information

Hi Tess, Yea I'm up and about but still got a sharp pain thats on my left side that will stop me in my tracks. I have a call into my surgeons office so I'm hoping they answer my question on that tomorrow. It almost feels like there is a stitch inside that is pulling or something. Congrats on your fill.Glad to hear you got it fixed to a comfortable level. I'm nervous about my first one. Flower girl, after the doc puts some saline into your band it becomes tighter around your stomach making the stoma smaller. It takes longer for the food and liquid you've taken in to move to the lower stomach therefore you feel full longer and won't eat as much. Hope that helps. Sherry
  24. Hi Debra, Take some Gas X and it should help with the problem. I didn't think I had gas problems either but it caught up with me 3 days later. I was banded on 2/13. I had the gel caps here so I punctured one, squeezed the inside out onto a spoon and took it that way. They do have the chewable ones though. The port pain...are you feeling like a tugging or sharp pinch on your left side? I still have that myself.
