Rainbow - Great job on the weightloss. Keep up the good work Nanaviv - Sounds like you're on your way. Right after you see Dr. H and you decide things are going the way you want don't walk out of that center without future appointments. Make sure the girls out front book your ultrasound, psych visit etc that way you'll be further along and can get those appts around your schedule. Just my suggestions. I killed all of my visits in ONE week :huggie: I lucked out on the ultrasound because they had a cancellation. They can sometimes be booked up for quite a while. Chris...how many days now? The scale is playing games with me this week because TOM is visiting UGH. Hopefully I'll see another pound gone when this thing is over. (Can ya tell I don't want it anymore? lol No more babies for me so I'm done...it can go away now hahaha if only that easy) So have you ladies thought about a possible get together someday? I'm volunteering my house if you'd like to have a little meeting of our own. I'd say meet at a restaurant but, ya know....I don't like them much lately lol.

Hey folks....I've been in a stressful funk and still there :huggie: I'm glad everyone is doing ok. Work is nuts, I'm going for a new job that they've kept me in the dark about, no clue what the pay difference will be but, found out I've been doing the work of this position for quite some time without the title or compensation GRRRRRRR so that makes me think...great if I don't like the raise and I stay where I am...I'm doing the F*&K*&^ working so the person who takes it has a golden job. Nice huh? Well I told my boss...if this doesn't work out, I'm not working at the pace I've been going. Today I worked from 7am until 7:30pm. Didn't get home until after 8:30pm. I'm pooped, cranky to the point where I can't stand myself and uncomfortable because TOM is holding back yet bloating me up. I can actually feel my band and the tubing with my insides if that makes sense. Anyway...I don't want to bring ya down...I'll be reading and thinking of ya. Love ya and thanks for listening..umm...reading Pat - A Ridley is a handmade motorcycle made in Oklahoma that is a 750 totally automatic transmission. I can bet you'd love riding one of those. A Harley Dealer sells them about 25 miles from me. I was telling Betty about em. Take care dearies..talk with you soon

Good Morning Everyone  Wednesday mid week Man I need the weekend already! lol. Nanaviv - I live in Taunton, depending on the traffic it can take me anywhere from an 1 to 1.5 to get to BIDMC. Honesly, my husband brings me in as well and I love it. I think at this point I could do it myself if I had to but, you know...it's been the best thing that he's been there for the appointments too. He has learned alot about what I go through because he listens to the nurtionists, the nurses and Dr. Jones since he's there with me. I think they HEAR more when it's SOMEONE ELSE that is telling them what goes on hahaha. I truly think it's something that brings you closer together because, truly you are working together on this. Face it...after banding we can no longer eat the same way so they too have to change. Example: before surgery DH and I would have a T-Bone steak each....after surgery WE eat only one. He gives me the most tender piece of the T-bone (usually that smaller 2''x2'' piece side). My DH has now lost 36 pounds so he's piggybacking on my band he says hahaha. It's great that your DH brings you in to Boston Good luck with your band journey. Chris....YOOOOOO my friend wassup heh heh. I don't mind helping you along at all my friend. Like you haven't helped me? That's what friends are for yeap yeap. You're going to do AWESOME and I'm so excited for you! Girl you're going to look HOT! We all just have to take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, one forkfull at a time and one day we'll be bikini shoppin together (ummm on so for me one sexy one piece still too shy for a bikini lol) Dezadoo - How is your healing doing? Start your mushies? One of my favorite mushies was cottage cheese with a little spaghetti sauce in it and parmesan cheese. I'd put that in the micro just to warm it up a little and I felt like I was having lasagna :pray2: I used to blend it with my hand-stick blender to get out the lumps too. You could use ricotta cheese if you like that too. BLECK....I just tried to take a liquid Iron supplement...what went down came right back up. WHEW that stuff was yucky! I take the Flintstones Completes but, sometimes my body needs the extra iron...well it isn't going to happen this way. That bottle was thrown away! lol I could just heave thinking about it BLECK Well I got up early to get to work early so I have to stop playing in here lol. Have a great day everyone!

Rainbow - You will begin to feel a little hungry between your meals because as you're healing the swelling from the surgery goes down so your the passage from your upper portion of the stomach and esphogus to the lower part of your stomach widens so the food passes easier. That's when you go to the mushie stage at your 4th week checkup. No fill yet until your 8 week checkup. At that 8 week checkup answer the Dr. openly and honestly about your food intake, if you've had pbing or throwing up etc so he can make the right assessment with you on whether or not you need a fill. It's not worth getting one if you're still tight with mushies/solids. You'll know better then. But the first 8 weeks are all about healing so that the stitches inside secure and heal to hold that band in place. Don't be surprised if the weight loss slows down a little once you get to the mushies and solids either. Your body will need to adjust to the additional calories but you will lose. good luck! Nanaviv - I'm surprised that when you were accepted into the program that they didn't make that 1st appointment for you with Dr. H during that call. You do have to attend 2 meetings to qualify for your surgery date and after that they'd like us to go to one a month. Since I live so far away they haven't pushed me but, I've told them about this website I use for support as well as a few friends of mine that were also done at BIDMC and we talk all the time. I do try to attend at least 1 every 3-4 months though so I'm do to go again Dezaboo - This is my second fill out of the possible 3 I could of received. I definately felt the 1st fill and your weight loss kicks back in with it. At my appointment 4 weeks later I was still getting that full feeling, sometimes pbing if I didn't chew well and had thrown up a couple times so we decided my weight loss was doing fine so I passed on another fill. The last thing you want is to be too tight and throwing up all the time...it's not good for you especially that early. This fill I received I can definately feel it and I belive it's my sweetspot if not a tad too tight. I have to be VERY careful how much I eat and how well I chew. I have had lots of PBs. It's like learning all over again how to eat even after I've had the band for 6 months already. I find I can only eat maybe 1/4 cup of food at a time. You definately need to stick with the liquid phase after a fill. Don't be alarmed either if what they put in the first time doesn't seem to be as much when you go for that 2nd fill. First time Dr. Jones said I got anywhere from 1 to 1.50 ccs so I called it 1.25 (logical? lol), well this fill he said he only pulled out .50 (they pull it out to check whats in there) and put in another 1.00 cc. Holy crap I thought..this is gonna be tight but also though where the heck did the other 1.0 go? He said he pulled air out a and some does evaporate? I'm still asking Angi on that one lol. I'm the type of gal that wants to know EXACTLY whats in there lol. It's going very well though, thank you for asking. It can get frustrating when you can't eat much but, then when the scale moves you're willing to take it hahah Good luck everyone! Chrispy where are ya girl!

A skiny woman followed me into the ladies room yesterday.....
SherryW replied to piercedqt78's topic in The Gals' Room
Congratulations! Ohhh I pray one day I can look at myself and see that same jaw dropping lady -
Hello everyone, Well I did better today but, I think it's because I've tried to notice quicker that the full limit is coming. I had a snack pack of 2% lowfat cottage cheese for breakfast, 3/4 c onion soup for lunch and 1/2 of one of those broccoli stuffed chicken breast things by like tyson for dinner today. Not too bad. BUT, ya know what I just figured out DUH! TOM is suppose to visit this Friday so my body is probably starting to retain fluid. Might explain the 1 pound gain when I barely ate yesterday huh? lol Slow and easy. Oh...I confess....today I melted about 10 Mega M&Ms in my mouth not in my hands lol. PMS here we come. Everyone....thank you so very much for your advice too. I truly appreciate it. But....how do you ask a doctor to take out .1 when to me, he still hasn't figure out how much is freaking in there in the first place? Oh yea that still frustrates me to death lol. Dianne - Doesn't sound to me like you need a fill if you only ate 1/2 a small omelet. Was it made with 2 or 3 eggs? Also...is it head hunger in between or real hunger? I swear the head feels just as strong. When is your cruise? Darcy - I think the 4cc band would hold more because the band holds 4cc but the tubing has to count as well right? Might also explain why we sometimes feel so tight in the morning. I have a feeling the saline when we lay down moves more to the band...when we walk around the saline moves down the tube a bit especially as we eat. Hmmm I think I just talked myself into realizing why my band is so tight in the am hahaha. Oh and don't worry about the missed personals...I know how hard it is to keep up and see all the names. If it's not on the advanced screen I don't seem em either lol. Hugs! Eileen - God Bless you for watching that child this week. Ohhh I don't like it when kids are like that. I don't know if I could do it lol. Now that my DS is 16 it's just so easy because as long as there is food that he likes in the house he's happy as a clam lol. Hope you do have a good week with DD Betty - Seems to be something going around. A few gals from work had that sick thing too. Ohhh I went to the Harley shop near here to look at a Ridley. Ever hear of them? They are 750s and fully automatic. Ohhh soooo pretty but, man...you can only guess since a Harley dealers sells them that they are just as pricey as a Harley. Well almost. They want $14,000 for the cheapest one and they only go up from there. Man they are beautiful. I love the black one with the pink flames hee hee. Try googling them if you get a chance. Oh yea....DH has this thing he added to his throttle bar...it helps with the carpal tunnel it's called a Palm Breaker. Try looking them up. My aunt uses one too and she has carpal tunnel and swears by them. There anywhere from 10-12 dollars. Try JC Whitney. Kat - Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you with this last fill. Just eat small portions then go back for more later. I did that with my 1/2 piece of chicken today. Ate 1/2 of the 1/2...sorted laundry, cleaned up some of the house...went back for the rest. It worked...and since I was able to eat the solid I'll keep trying that. You're weightloss has been fantastic...great work! Cindy - You're right....small small pieces work. Amazing as you swallow something you turn :phone: knowing rut ro that was too big...then you wait  for the ball to start lol. Thanks for reminding me to cut it small, cause it really helped me with dinner tonight. Ohhh when LBT was down this weekend I thought we were all being punished lol. We didn't do anything but, because of the complainers and flamers last week. I missed my buds Bean - Did you end up with another fill? Can't remember if you said you were getting one or not. I know I've missed people but, Gosh my posts are always so dang long when I post personals. I just can't seem to shut myself up :guess . I swear I could talk to all of you for hours! Anne, Donna, Mary, Patty, Pat.....HELLOOOOOOO Ok time to cruise around and see what trouble..oops...see where I can help hee hee

Hi Nanaviv, Hmm the 401 number is odd and I don't remember it at all. All my dealings were thru the main BIDMC Bariatric Center number. The only thing I can think of is thats the psychologists phone number? Even that appointment I made through the main front desk at the Bariatric Center. If I were you I'd call that number 617-667-2845, tell Darlene or Joan that you were wondering what the next step is and maybe even talk to Angi. If you haven't met with Dr. H yet...that would be your next step. Sounds to me you haven't done that yet and he's the one that orders all the other tests that need to be done. I'd give them a call today if you can.
-
Nanaviv....did you complete your survery application yet and send it into the Bariatric unit at BIDMC? That's your very first step in being accepted into the Bariatric program. After they get your application, a nurse reviews it, will call you and discuss it and then let you know if you've been accepted as a patient. Its at that time that you're first appointment is set up with Dr. H. He does a quick physical, explains the types of surgery and lets the group know which tests he needs you to complete. Usually an ultrasound, psychiatric eval, blood work, nutritionist visit. The front desk books all of those for you. Once you complete all that he's required and your folder is complete the bariatric group meets to discuss your case. If they all agree, they give you a call and you meet with a surgeon of your choice. You meet with the surgeon, Jones or Schneider, they ask a bunch of questions, make sure you understand the surgery choice, go over your chart and then you book a surgery date and your pre-op work date. Hope that helps. I had a fill on 8/16/06 and whew things are tight today. Seems the band is a finicky little thing sometimes. Today is one of those days, close calls with golfballs and PBing all day. UGH. Hopefully it will slow down and I'll be back to regular solid Proteins. Right now I've found I have to puree alot of the food I eat or at least break it down more so it's chewed enough. Anyone else find their band gets finicky sometimes?
-
Welcome back Mrs Clause...we missed ya
-
Hey everyone, LBT being down drove me nuts but, now ...my band is so damn tight I'm having a hard time with everything today I don't understand it. I followed the rules, did well, then all of a sudden I keep getting stuck after just a few bites. I guess this is restriction for ya. I swear I can feel the band inside me right now though. Anyone else ever get that? Believe me...if I can't get solid proteins down...I'll be calling my doc this week. I love the weight loss but, I also know it's not healthy to not be able to get solid proteins down. I guess we'll see what happens. My TOM isn't due so it's not that grrrrr. One day at a time. I'm getting uncomfy sitting here so I'm going to go pace the hallway a bit to see what happens. I miss ya and hope you're all doing ok. Patty I'm so sorry so much has gone wrong or bad for you so quickly. I do hope things get better soon and that there is something else that can be done to get you approved. Hugs

Glad to hear you feel better Magic.

Awesome picture Dianne! Love your dress too!

Oooo not a good day in band land for me. This afternoon threw up wheat thins right up my nose lol. Went to Dream Dinners with my mom tonight and put some meals together. They had samples, I didn't eat dinner because there wasn't any time. The samples went down fine but nooooooo I was thirsty and thinkin only a sip BINGO slimin all the way home more than 20 miles. I kept apologizing to my mom but she said don't worry about it...I just don't know how you can stand it. I said well it's not always easy but this was my fault. I knew better but did it anyway. Truly it was my fault. The wheat thins.....surprised me but, they're thrown away now so not gonna happen again lol. Cooked me up some Onion Soup for tomorrows lunch and I'm going to puree it so I don't have to worry about the lumps. The warmth of the soup feels so good. Oh wellsky live and learn, do again hee hee Cindy - seems I always miss the really bad stuff that goes on in the threads but it totally amazed me that on a thread opened by a moderator explaining rules, etiquette and plain old politeness to people and that one particula person, before the mod locked the thread, had to rehash old crap. I can't blame Penni for locking the thread at all! People just don't seem to get it sometimes I guess. I'll keep my safe corner of threads here with you gals Betty - God bless ya..you must read alot of crap and have to work your way through it being a moderator. Thanks for your hard work my friend. I'm gonna mosey around the threads. Hope everyone is doing well. The scale was playing games with me this morning so I decided to ignore it hahaha.
-
Ooo nice recipes..thanks for sharing. I'll have to try some of these. My favorite supper is French Onion Soup or my DH's meatloaf with sweetpotato

Welcome Kynekke, you've found a great place for info. Have you met with a nutrionist so that you know how much Protein and calories you should have a day. You may not be getting enough of one or the other or both. Our metabolism will shut down if you lack in one or the other or both. You might want to try to track all that you eat to see where you stand. Adjust your diet to add more if your totals seem low or less if they seem high. Then see if you lose. Good luck and welcome!
-
Awwwwwwww you folks are making me blush. I am who I am, just try to treat others the way I'd like to be treated. Hmmm what rule was that? hee hee. Pat - I'm with Cindy on the Patriotic heart. The whole family is in my prayers. Thank you for sharing that with us because we all sometimes need to be reminded how lucky we truly are. These poor folks are going through so much and if we all keep them in mind and in our prayers I'm sure it will lighten the load. Well it's late so I figure I'll pop around and read some threads. Already put my 2 cents in somewhere in a thread about people growing up or needing to. I have NO CLUE what the hecks been going on but, I wanted to show support for our mods and Alex. I truly am grateful to have this website to learn from good and bad but, mostly because it brought me to all of you. Hugs to my NJ friends. May you all have a wonderful nights sleep and if ya shrink an ounce or two while sleepin even better hee hee. Love ya !

If you don't want to be offended then DO NOT open this thread. You have been warned!
SherryW replied to Penni60's topic in Rants & Raves
Personally I truly appreciate all that the mods do do and how they've handled themselves. I've chatted with several and have really gotten to know one in particular and have valued their experience and patience. I think it's great that Alex has made it possible for us to learn from them and each other. I have no idea what the heck has been going on with postings, flaming, name calling whatever has happened to get everyone so bothered and for a moderator to have to remind people that this website is a GIFT! I come to LBT everyday, sometimes several times. I help where I can, ask questions if I need help, read threads but, I choose what I want to take-in and choose what I want to ignore. If something seems off to me or I feel it's craziness then I don't give it anymore thought or my time. Move on and search some more is what I do. People come with different personalities. We'd be bored if we were all the same plus we'd never learn from each other. What do I learn if it's a post thats kinda off key to me? I learn how NOT to word something, how now to get involved with the jibber jabber and I also learn how much I value my true friends that have been there for me here at home. I've also learned how different docs do things, how to adjust my diet, helpful hints if you feel something isn't right, what to ask my PCP or surgeon and that PB doesn't mean peanut butter hee hee. Anyway....I thank the mods and Alex for welcoming here and allowing me to be a member. I will continue to be open minded, help those I can and continue to learn all I can about this great tool I chose to have put in place. I hope everyone can live and learn, take what you need, page away from what you don't. I wish you all well and may you all continue to shrink -
I wouldn't wait that long, I'd call the doc and let him know. Let it be his decision if he filled the band too much. How big is your band and how much does it hold? Mine will only hole 4cc of fluid.

Check in day...had my fill last Wednesday and it kicked in for sure. I'm down 6 this week to make it 220. Wahooo. I'm starting to see signs of Christmas in some of the stores out here...how about you?
-
Gooooooooood moooooooooornin folks, Lets see if I can catch up on some personal notes aye? Cindy - Enjoy your day with DD. Sounds like your whole family has that good nature, care for others way of life. Simply Awesome! How's it going with your Christmas wish? I haven't seen anything posted in there for while, I'll have to check that thread again. Kat - What to cook well since it's Breakfast time now I'm not any help hee hee. We sometimes have breakfast for dinner . Oh...and you've done great with your weight loss, remember its one day at a time, one forkfull at a time. We're here for ya :scalesno: Allison - Nate truly is a cutey patooty. I just love babies, I was such a nervous wreck with mine but, he's 16 now so I guess he survived lol. Great weight loss too...this is a great thread for support. Stick around and join the fun! Darcy - The trouble your having could be what someone else mentioned here a ficher. Good luck with your tests and we're here for you as you've been for us. Love ya girl! Ohhh and what a special thing with the doggies. If we lived nearby I would bring my puppies to you for sure. I know how much love you have for them. It's been hard to find near me, thankfully my friend took care of them while we were away. They love her Mary- Yoooo woman, hows it going? You need to come and play a little longer with us We miss ya. Bean - One day at a time and when you're ready to kick it up a knotch (taken from Emerald and Cindy hee hee) BAM it will happen. In the meantime, whew, I hope you're able to get a nice breather while you're on vacation. Sounds like it's going to be a busy vacation as well. You'll have to tell da boss, you need a vacation from your vacation hee hee Diane - I hope you and your DH enjoyed your floss. hahaha ouch I think I'd be pickin at the thing all night thinking I had a wedgy lol. Hope you had fun. Do tell how you managed to put it all together without him knowing Might need that for future references. Me....when I'm close to my weight goal I plan on getting a belly dancin outfit shhhhhh lol Pat! - Ohhh my it's sooo nice to hear from you. Sounds like you've had one heck of a summer. Employees from hell. Hmmm sounds familiar hahaha. Oh yea I still have one that's a problem and it's having to document it all that takes so much dang time. I wish I could spend this much time on whats really important - the client. Well sounds like better days are coming with your new employee. We miss ya! Eileen - I hope DD had a great 5th bday with mom and dad. Two special days for her this week...what a lucky girl. I hope you all had a nice dinner and time with her. Boy they grow up so fast don't they...seems like just yesterday you were telling us she was yelling for her bum to be wiped hee hee. Just loved that story. Betty - Hows the foot? Hey...speaking of angels do you have any tattoos? (quite the sentence huh? hahaha) Just asking because my next tattoo will be of an angel holding the American Flag. I just need to design it or get some help from the tattoo artist to design it. I went it on my left thigh so it doesn't matter how big we have to make it to get the detail lol. Oh yes...been doing some research on automatic transmission motorcycles...look up Ridley's wahooo they are sharp looking. Might have to take a close look at one of them heehee. Patty - Don't you worry my friend that band is around the corner and you're gaining ground on it. Sooo cute about your little one wanting extra lovins. I loved it when my son did that...sometimes now I find him more huggy on days lol. Lets me know he appreciates and loves his mama and I give it right back to him. We've always had an open line of communication and I can see you've got that with your boys. Isn't it great? Well...I really do have to get ready for work. If I missed ya I'm so sorry but, know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers. Lord, please help our will power grow each day and help us help ourselves get to a healthier body. Love you all, have a great shrinking day!
-
shhhh I'm sneaking in right now...not suppose to do this at work lol. I ate chicken salad and Halleluja! it's staying down. That's quite the thing since Wednesdays fill hahahaha. shhhhhh <slowly sneaking away>
-
Shell...I think you asked that on the wrong thread. I don't think anyone here went to Mexico for their band. I have no idea why someone would other than the pricing because then you're stuck trying to find a doc here in the states to take care of fills and you after surgery. I know my docs in Boston,MA don't want the risks..they feel bad for the patients because they want to help them but, with not having done the surgery it's too risky for them. Everyone....Hope to post later. Just was peeking before work. Hope you're all doing well and Shrinking! (sorry just had to say my line hee hee)
-
Have to say it.... WAY TO GO KAT! BIG 50 is something wonderful for sure. It certainly is exciting isn't it to finally see that scale move and see it not creep back up. Congratulations! Big thunderstorms here right now so I have to get off the computer. Eileen I hope you feel better soon! Hope everyone is doing well and shrinking....talk to you soon!
-
I LOVE IT Darcy! Thank you so much for sharing! It so does apply to this thread group. I feel more connected with you folks than some of my friends I've known for years. Must be that same goal...same inner feelings about what we're going through that point us all in that same connected direction. I'm thankful for you all!
-
I do that position but over the toilet lol. I just bend at the waist and keep my head lower than my mid section and the stuck food comes up with a cough. I think no matter how many times we learn things get stuck there will always be days when you forget to chew or something disctracts you and bingo...here we go again. I'm glad you're feeling better. Oh and someone mentioned meat tenderizer? Umm that only works on Proteins not breads. I hear Papaya tablets help with stuck proteins too but, I've never tried it.
