HELP...Is this the right thing to do???????
SherryW replied to April's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeap sounds like the same thing most about to be banded folks do. Quite frankly if you weren't a bit nervous that would be scarey. I told my boss what I was having done but, everyone else I told them it was abdominal surgery. Only a few asked what kind of surgery or why and I just said female reasons and they let it be lol. It will explain when you go back to work why you might be walking slower or at times get uncomfortable if you sit too long. :guess For quite some time it was only my DH that knew I was doing this. I didn't tell my mom until after I had a surgery date and only because she lives with us in her own apartment but the same house. I didn't want her to worry when she didn't see me home. She also struggles with her weight so she understood why I wanted to do this. After I had a date I did tell one close friend at work because she'd have to help keep things running for me while I was gone. (I'm her supervisor as well as an outside friend for over 17 years) and one other friend whos now going through the process. (Great Gals, very supportive) Now that I'm almost 7 months out, a few more people from work now know what I had done because I did tell them. When you order lunch together it's kinda hard for someone to not notice you're eating differently. Others...I just tell them I'm dieting eating proteins first, veggies, fruits then carbs and they don't push further. Congrats on your decision and good luch and best wishes with your surgery and recovery  -
Hi Cindy, Yes that's to the great training by DH (had dogs all his life) the puppies behave very well. Jake did chew up my nice 1 year old oak dining set but, he wasn't home to catch him doing it and my son wasn't paying attention UGH. Jenny learned the hard way that taking a pork chop from the kitchen table was a no go and Jake will have to learn that way too I guess. Just need to catch him in the act. They do listen very well though...to him...not me :welldoneclap: lol I'm just the lady that sneaks them a snack once in a while lol. Both dogs listen to my DH, Jenny listens to my son very well too but, me.....they listen ummm when they wanna lol. I think my voice isn't deep enough lol. Sometimes I have to lower it to get them to listen, amazing how that works lol
-
Just done alot of research and question asking. It's the only way to learn and each and every person reacts differently with the band in place. I've definately learned that my journey is different from others and also the same. It's been a turning point in my life that I don't regret. As I always say...one day at a time, one meal at a time, one forkfull at a time. Hugs

Oh I hear ya on that one Cindy. I've ended up there a few times myself thinking I was reading something else only to find myself reading people rippin on each other. I just end up leaving as to me it's just getting downright ugly in there. I do like to help others so I keep checking new posts though :welldoneclap: I posted pics of the pups on the picture thread and I'm going to go poke around a bit My son is playing Texus hold-em with his Godmother right now so I have a little time to play lol
-
Kat you look awesome in your pictures..what a change :welldoneclap: Pat you look wonderful! Cute babies, cute kids, cute pets...awww what a nice thread we have here hee hee
-
Awwwww Ma do I hafta eat that dry stuff again, can't I have the chicken you and dad are havin? huh? pretty pleasssssssse
-
Jakes paws are already bigger than Jenny's and his tail is as long and thick as hers. yikes..he's gonna be a big doggy.
-
New pictures of my pups. Jake the lighter one is 4.5 months and Jenny is 1 yr 3 months....so do you think Jake is going to be big? lol
-
omg lol I can't help laughin at the way those people are acting in that section of LBT. It's like they were given free reign to dig, cut, stab each other in there. What the heck? Oh well they can keep it cause I don't need that much aggravation in my life. I have enough going on at home and work than to drag more in. I'm glad you got out safely Cindy, we've got cha back...welcome home. Kat I'm glad you got your pics up. Just an FYI anymore than 1 picture and the dang things don't show in the thread just the links. You have to post two replys in order for them to show...well that's how its worked for me anyway. I need to take new pics of my pups and put them on the picture thread. You won't believe how big the little one is already lol. I have company so I have to go. Have a good day my friends. Talk to you later
-
Oh GOD bless your sister lol. Two goldens are enough for me. I just spent the last 1/2 hour on my deck picking up bits and pieces of a pool float noodle because my littlest one ripped it to shreads UGH. You can't keep anything out of his mouth unlike his older sister. The puppy is so cute though That's how they get us lol. You walk into the store and those dang puppies eyes melt your heart...tis how Jake came to be at my house. No more pet store for me lol
-
I got em Kat and I'll be working on them later today. You look great! Congrats on the WL! You're doing awesome!

Dezadoo - Your body has to get used to having the extra cals again. You'll lose, don't get discouraged Start choosing lower calorie mushies and try to stay away starches if ya can. Are you eating your Proteins first, veggies, fruit then starches? Getting most of your Water in? Have you tried diet green tea...it's helps with your metabolism too :girl_hug: Rainbow - we'll figure something out someday as far as a get together :girl_hug: It would be alot of fun. Have fun with the family! Tell that son of yours we're all proud of him and thank him! Chris - the day is coming fast girl. You've got your Protein shakes ready Now start thinking mushy stage too. Get some cream of wheat and/or oatmeal, natural applesauce, sugar free puddings, Soups ready wahoooo! I can't wait to watch you shrink lol nanaviv - timid about driving...heck Boston would do that to anyone other than the seasoned traffic buster lol My DH travels for his work all the time so he's used to it. Me...I travel the same highway to work and back. Sometimes the traffic is terrible but, because I know the road I'm ok with it. It's the same with Boston. Once you have down in memory the route you need to travel you'll do ok if you have to do it alone. But I think you've got the best deal with DH bringing you I know I do hee hee DH was sick today so I didn't get much done around here. He's doing better, it was my turn to play nurse He's watching his NASCAR now so I think he's over the worse part of it lol. At least he'll sleep for a bit lmao amazing how he sleeps with that on and wakes up anytime something happens and he knows lol. Have a great night ladies....hope you're all doing well and shrinking!

Hello my friends, Been nursing DH today. He was dethatching the lawn yesterday but I guess caught some bug. He started with the shivers this morning with no fever, then threw up and then the fever. Seems to be doing better now but, man we're nervous with the TripleE around here. He hasn't thrown up again and his fever is in check so we're doing well. He's watching his NASCAR race now (bet Betty is too hee hee). I tried to get some chicken soup in him earlier and he did well with it but, he hasn't been hungry for supper. Just trying to be a good nurse Hmmm now if I had a uniform it might help change his mood lmao sorry couldn't help it lol. He is doing better though I think I got everyone with my personal email addy but, if I missed ya and you'd like it please PM me and I'll give it to you. I'd love it if we all kept in touch should something happen to the website. Seems the hacking and weekend shutdowns have me nervous. Hopefully the fighting will stop soon...such silliness and man they get so nasty :girl_hug: So sad that they've forgotten what this website is truly for and how much it's helped us all. Oh well enough about that. Cindy - Thank you for the compliment. I think it might be sinking in that I'm doing well. I truly didn't see it in my picture but, for the first time on Friday at work....I saw something. I went into the ladies room and while washing my hands I looked at myself in the mirror (Gosh I hate to do that lol) and saw something. My mind finally allowed me to see a smaller girl. I looked at my hips and tummy and saw it......finally thought "wow....you have lost girl....more to go but, it's really showing". I guess that's a NSV for me...I've never said that to myself before. Anywho...thank you for all you did to help me get here The food suggestions have helped alot. I really do need to slow down, cut my Protein nice and small and I do much better. All the things I knew to do but didn't until ya reminded me lol Mandy - WELCOME girl! Any friend of Cindy's is considered a friend of mine. Please feel free to ask any questions here including WHATS A PB lol. We won't get mad but if ya ask twice we might tell ya again but laugh hee hee. Just kidding. You'll find we all like to help each other and we all need each other. Your dog is adorable.....I have two Golden Retrievers. They're cute but Jake the 4 month old is cruisin big time. He chewed up my kitchen chairs....the seat of all things and they are oak. Mamma isn't happy with him right now. Apparently he did this while my son was home alone and not paying attention :girl_hug: Needless to say they were both in the doghouse Friday. Betty - God bless ya. I've seen your postings within some of the threads and it must be so hard with the Gripe catagory. I don't know if the catagory is being used properly, seems like it's nothing but trouble so I've been staying away from it. I got caught up in it when I was looking for New posts to see if I could help people. That dang curiosity sometimes does me in but, I keep my mouth or fingers shut. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing your best moderating here. It just can't be easy. Now......do you use a special smoker type thing for the meats? Its an outdoor thing right? Hows the foot? Mary - Hows it going? Seems like life is very busy for you! I do hope you've had time to pamper yourself a bit. Kat - Waiting to see those pics girl. I bet you see a big difference I'll be happy to help you get them posted if you'd like. How is DH doing today? Good idea with the email addys and anyone that wants to share mine with anyone here, it's ok with me. Chris - Sorry we couldn't get together today. I was looking forward to it but, I couldn't take the chance of you or Donna getting sick. No idea what DH has but he's feeling better Maybe we can make plans for next weekend or something How many days now? 30? Wahooo you're going to do sooo good with this I just know it! Pat - Thanks for letting us know about the hack thing with Eileen. I don't blame ya for being afraid to go there. My DH repairs computers so I know I'd get it fixed but, still I don't want to lose any information I have stored up on it lol. How are things going for you? Your new hire start yet? Ohhh I still have the one that doesn't balance her deposits with me and she hasn't improved getting to work on time grrrrrrrr. She's going to make me do it...I just know it UGH. Patty - How old is Channing? I remember my son going through some self esteem issues. Still not easy when it happens but, he's getting better with it realizing that sometimes it's not him but the kid that is making fun of him has a problem. Teenage years are so difficult sometimes. Good luck finding the help you want for him, I'm sure you're helping him a great deal too. He's lucky to have such a wonderful mom Eileen - Glad you got your computer up and running right. DH do that for a living? Sometimes these viruses and hackers really cause a great deal of mess. Thanks for getting the info to us through Pat. My luck I would of flopped right over it and allowed it into my computer as well. Minestrone soup....ahem...Greg's special soup....easy peasy to make! I'll give the recipe if ya want it If you have a can opener...you're golden with this recipe. No measuring cups needed either lol. It's even better after it sits in the refridge overnight and reheated the next day Bene - Hows the vacation going....you still on it? Hope all is well. love yas

Hey Wife support...I had the same thing. It was the pain meds for me too. I'm glad your wife is doing better and each day it gets better and better. Good luck with recovery and it's great that you're supporting her on this. My husband has been my best friend through all of this and let me tell you....I'll always remember him being supportive of me and helping me with this decision. Amazing what he's learned in regards to how to eat etc himself. He's lost 36 pounds just piggybacking my lapband surgery and eating the way I do or we share meals because I can't eat alot. I guess my taking a small portion of his helps him keep his portions in check etc Good luck with everything!

Newbie, Banded 8/11....my Bday
SherryW replied to LISA T's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your banding and WELCOME! -
you weren't given one of those little gadgets at the hospital to get your breathing capacity back to normal? It's like an exercise machine for your lungs. You have to keep the ball in a certain section when you breath in? Anyway....I felt that too but, the gadget helped me take the deep breaths to make it go away.
-
Good Idea Kat.....I'll do that too. Would be nice for all of us to have a running list of emails just in case.
-
Hey just discovered that we can actually use the chatroom here and make a private chat if we wanted to or leave it open. I just created one labeled NJ Chat Kinda cool if anyone is interested sometime
-
Hey gals is anyone interested in getting together in a chat room say yahoo or AIM just to chat sometime. Just to get away from the hull-a-balooey and have our own little chat sometime? I use both AIM and Yahoo for instant messengers if anyone is interested maybe we can figure something out I think it would be fun to chat live sometime. Anywho....just saw a nice movie about a high school basketball coach..Coach Carter. Loved it...amazing influence on those boys

Thinking of you both and saying a prayer for a quick recovery. Hope all goes well and you're able to go home and heal. Rest well and know that you're in our thoughts.

Was a cooking day for me today. Made a nice big pot of "Greg's Special Soup" it's actually just like minestrone. The name all started when he was a wee child of about 4 and I couldn't get him to eat much. So one day I told him we'd make Greg's Special Soup that would make him strong. I prepped the ingredients and he mixed them in the pot with a wooden spoon. I told him every time he ate it he'd get much stronger and it would help his muscles grow. It was great when he went up to his grammy and said he was getting stronger because he had special soup. Grammy played along with it and felt his muscles confirming it. WELL that was a hit and he ate lots of it...all the veggies, meat and Pasta Grammy told the aunts and bingo Greg was getting stronger and stronger every time he saw a relative hahaha. Today he still loves it and he's 16. He actually asked if I could make it for him so he could have his soup for after school He's with is father this weekend but it's here for him when he gets home. I also whipped up a batch of chili while DH dethatched the lawn. It is quite tasty if I say so myself heh heh. I have a small amount I'm trying to get down....used the gold old stick blender on it to make sure I chew it well enough lol. Lots of Protein in this anyway  Also put together a Southern banana Layer pudding for DH. He got spoiled today but, heck after dethatching and raking all day he deserves it. I HATE that job so I kept myself busy in the kitchen *wink* lol Its been really chilly here as Chrispy said. She'll be over tomorrow for a visit I'm excited for her with her surgery date. I know she's going to do great with her band Well folks...time to try to finish dinner and watch some tv with my DH. Oh I just finished "One For the Money" by Janet Evanovich. I really liked it...I guess I'll go for book #2

Ok I was lost again...was wondering why I wasn't getting the daily updates from my NJ friends hahaha. I have a wicked headache trying to become a migraine so I can't post personals yet. I'm doing ok...still stressed but, I'm taking it one day at a time. Supposedly I'll hear next week about this new position and the battle of the wallet will begin. I just HATE that stuff. Just pay me fairly and you'll get double your money back, I've always been that kind of worker. Another note...THANK YOU each and every one of you for keeping our thread a nice, peaceful, open minded thread. For Valuing others opinions and not snapping their head off if it doesn't match your way of thinking. My God....I was getting sick reading the crap. Who the heck even started a section for Gripes? That to me is just opening the board for this kind of thing? The swearing, name calling, yelling, finger pointing, members with new names, members banned...as Eileen would say WTF!!!!! Me...I'd take the Gripe board off...it's not helping the situation at all. I don't think it's being used for the right reasons IMHO. Eh....enough of this crapola already. I'll stick with my kin here in NJ. Love ya all! I'll try personals soon I promise. thanks for thinking of me.

Rainbow - That's fantastic. I'm a true blue Patriotic Gal and please give your son a big Hug and Kiss of thank you from me! Welcome home Soldier! Nanaviv - I live in Taunton, MA it's about 40 min South of Boston and 30 Min East of Providence,RI. No harm in DH driving ya...I love it when mine drives me in as well. Besides its great company

I pray this website will have the strength to get back to basics of helping each other with one of the toughest decisions we've ever made. A great decision for some...hard for others but, but pray this LBT circle of life friends can pull it all back together and just help one another. I certainly could use a more friendly atmosphere and will do my best to help others.
