Pushin my luck here as I should be on the road already but, I had to say hello lol. So hello hee hee Dealing with some pain here this morning...back was sore so I went to the chiro last night now my hip is out. OUCHY. DH and I are wondering if our bed is off. We have one of those dial-a-number beds that is adjustable. We have to play around with the air levels on both sides of our mattress and possibly lay it flat. (Right now the angle may be too much.) All I know is I'm not liking this right hip much this morning. Going to be a long day if it doesn't go back into place. Back to the chiro for me today I guess UGH. Anne - Lets say I'm hoping thats where the extra 3 pounds came from was the lack of BP meds hahaha. Kat - I miss ya too! Just couldn't figure out what the heck happened then it dawned on me...duh fix your preferences silly lol. I forget to do that everytime I join a new thread. I'll hopefully be back later on today to do personals...got more reading to do. Oh saw Chrispy last night...she looks awesome but, I know she'll feel even better after her move. Saw the new place location..NICE!!!! She's such a sweetheart! Have a great day goils....bb tonight HUGS!

Geesh forgot to fix my subscription to instant and didn't get anything from you gals until tonight. I was wondering where everyone was hahaha. Anywho...back to the healthier way of eating today. Gotta get the pounds that snuck up on me this past week back off. Grrrr so what did I do? Had ice cream yesterday UGH. Actually I think the problem is ummm I've forgotten to take my bloodpressure medicine over the past week. UGH. I wasn't on my regular work routine so I forgot to take it. Back to taking it today so hopefully this added Water will go away FAST. Ohhhh Mandy that pup is so cute No time for personals....I have to go read up for an all day class on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it but, theres lots of reading to do. Thinking of you...wishing you the best on your new start for the new year...hope you're all doing well and shrinking. HUGS!

Hey Nicole, I'm 5'4 and was 277 pounds. I had aches and pains as well and that definately counts towards the requirements for the surgery. I have to honestly say I don't regret this surgery not even a bit. Its the best decision I've made for myself in a long long time. I'm finally taking time for me. It is work....you can't expect the band to do it all but, you know that's what I like about it. I still have to make the choices it just helps keep me on track. Before...during the holidays I would of gained 10 pounds easy eating all the fudge, Cookies, cakes etc. This year I had some of those things but, I can't eat much of it because of the band plus....I've worked hard so far that I'm not willing to give it back hahaha. It's not always easy and I do go up a few pounds sometimes but, the band keeps me going in the right direction it won't let me give up. I do wish you the best in your journey and please feel free to PM me anytime with any questions you have. I too didn't meet with Dr. Jones or the Bariatric center until I had the referral. What I suggest is that you print out the information located on Beth Israels website for your doctor. Make sure to print out all the info about the surgery, results etc. My doc had no idea the about the surgery and spoke with surgeons at the hospital she is affiliated with. Those surgeons told her to refer me to BIDMC. If your doc knows you well and knows the struggles you've had she/he will help you with this. My doc asked me if I was sure this is what I wanted I told her I've been researching this for a long time, I know it's a tool not a miracle and that I have to work with it in order for it to work. I told her the Bariatric center will make me have a Psych eval, physical, ultrasounds etc to make sure this is for me. She was satisfied with that and gave me the referal. So prepare yourself, educate yourself with all the info and show the doc how excited you are about it. How can he/she say no after that? If he/She does then get another doctor Best of luck! Sherry

Hey Nicole, The only people that knew about my surgery were my husband, son, mother and one friend. The others just thought I was on a diet. As time as progressed and I'm doing well with the band I've told a few more people. I'm careful with who I've told only because I don't want to have to listen to "Can you eat that?, Should you eat that? I don't know how you do it!" stuff. It's totally up to you who you want to know and the reasons behind it. I've had people at work ask me about the liquid stage diet after my surgery and how they want to go on it after New Years. What they don't realize is my stomach was the size of a bathroom dixie cup so no I wasn't hungry but, if it were normal size I know I would be. They haven't had the surgery yet want a liquid diet? Hell I tell them go on Slim fast lol. Dr. Jones has been very nice. Truly I talk to the staff more than I do him but, that's natural. Everyone there has been very helpful and supportive. The nurses on the Bariatic wing have been going to the support/informationsl meetings so they can help out patients more too so that's great. I know because they were there when I went to a support meeting. Have you completed your survey for BIDMC and met with Dr. H yet? Just curious where you are in the process. Also...just so you now a BIDMC thread was created too so you can chat with me and the other gals in there too if you'd like. Do a search for BIDMC and you'll find it. Best of luck and feel free to PM me with any questions if you'd like. Happy New Year!

Hi Nicole, Yes you'll need a referral...well I know I needed one anyway. Where are you traveling from? I have to say I've been very pleased with BIDMC. I miss some of the gals there that were there when I started this process but, I've found their replacements quite friendly as well. The whole process went pretty quickly for me. I was actually able to complete all my visits during the first week. You have to have a psych eval, ultrasounds, bloodwork etc. I got that taken care of the first week because someone cancelled their ultrasound Anyway...I started the process the first week in Dec 2005 and my surgery was 2/13/06 so thats quick. I think right now it's taking a little longer because they have so many more patients but, I still think if everything goes well and you're approved you'd be done by April or so. Thanks for the congrats....I LOVE MY BAND! Hope the process goes well for you too!
  10. There is a before and after thread on here Jason. Just do a search for it and you'll see hundreds of pictures on it. It's quite the inspiration

Congrats nana on your appointment. Regarding a protein type drink you're not allergic too I can bet they'll find one for you. No worries just take it one step at a time. i hope everyone has a very Happy and Healthy New Year. Keep on shrinkin girls!

    Too Much Protein???

Clear liquids 7 days prior? Holy smokes! Thats a tough one to do. I only had to do something special the day before. My surgery was set for a Monday so as of Saturday dinner I had to eat a light dinner, then Sunday simple breakfast like cream of wheat, lunch was soup and dinner was clear liquid nothing after 5pm for me. Wow....7 days is a long time to go on clear liquids only. I don't think it would matter if you had more proteins at this stage of the game but, it's always best to call your doctors office to double check you got the directions right. Good luck and welcome to Bandland.

Cindy...that's what I'm going to do...just go about my business through the holiday and see what happens. I won't over do the bad stuff but, if it's there and I'm hungry and want a piece I'll have it Betty...I'm glad you looked at that tire! Gosh that's scarey stuff especially on highways. I have to travel the highway to work everyday and always check my tires before I take off. Just scares me to think of going fast with a low tire. Glad to hear you're foot is doing ok too. What ya making for New Years? Anne - I must of missed something...I'll have to go back and check. Did you take the job? Last I read you were asked to come back and you were going to speak to someone. Good luck! Patty - I hope you're doing well and the boys are feeling fine. Haven't heard from you in a bit...know that we're thinking of ya. Pat - When are you coming back to play? Any wacky employees lately? I had to let one go just after Thanksgiving. UGH. She cried, pleaded but, I had no choice she wasn't a good fit for the job. Now I'm still in the middle of training my replacements and need to learn my new job too. SLOW pace isn't the word for it. But we need to replace my replacements first, train then, then train me.....Hmmm maybe sometime in the next year I'll be doing my new job lol well...I'm going to peek around some more. See if I can help a newbie or two. Anyone making something special for New Years dinner? I'm turkey'd out so we're having prime rib. Mom is paying for that...cripe it's way too much money for a piece of meat to me especially when I can barely eat it lol. But she really wants it so DH will cook it. We're having basic baked potatos, greenbeans and corn with it. I have no clue what else to make. I still have pie left over from Thanksgiving so I'm not baking anything....right now anyway lol. I might change my mind depending on the weather. Catch up with ya'll later taters!

Cass the dress is beautiful. I saw that one when I was looking for mine. I peeked at the navy blue insert one I got my dresses...yeap had to buy two because I got nervous one wasn't going to fit so bought the same dress in two sizes lol......on ebay. They were floor models of the bridal shops so never worn but, were tried on. It worked out great! I really should get the one I didn't wear back on ebay though....I wish I weren't so nervous selling stuff on there. Did it a few times and made myself a wreck. I was worried the people wouldn't get their items after I mailed them. Anyway...I got each dress that sold for $750 in one salon and $850 in another for $199 each. you might want to take a peek there.

I had Tuft HMO when I started the process and my insurance plan then switched to Tufts Liberty before my surgery and they accepted all the previous work fine. I believe that as long as your employer (or employer of the subscriber) hasn't written in an exclusion for WLS that you'd be covered no problem.

  17. Congratulations on your decision Jason. I'm 42.5 years old and wish I could of done this years ago. It's great that you're thinking about not only your health now but, the future. Your family history certainly warrants the thought process you've given this and sounds like you're well on your way to being a healthier, livelier, more energenic you! Welcome to LBT!

My goodness Kat...sounds like your niece needs to be taught a few things. Honestly how rude! Stick to your guns and have fun at the party! Eileen - Seems you've been very lucky in getting to meet some of the gals from the thread. I think thats great. I do hope someday we get to meet Mary - Hope your visit with your brother has been fun. Sounds like you're feeling better so that's very good news Cassandra - Sounds like you're well on your way to having your wedding plans completed. That's awesome! It will leave you plenty of time to do the little things that make your day extra special. I'm tempted to try on my wedding gown again and pull it nice and tight to see how it would look now. Have you started looking at dresses yet? Cindy, Anne, Pat, Patty, Dianne, Darcy, Chrispy,Betty, Allison, Mandy..whew there are lots of us huh? hee hee HELLO Goils hope you're all doing well. So heres a question for ya'll....why is it that I lose weight better when I'm not trying extra hard to lose it? I was hoping to reach ONEDERLAND by New Years...I was at 201 Tuesday...I've been watching what I'm eating, moving my ars, rode my bike and bingo I'm now at 203 this morning....TOM isn't due for a long long time either. I haven't eaten salty foods or junk...I swear eating some of the stuff actually helps me loose weight. So now I'm frustrated and know ONDERLAND ain't happening for New Years. I know I've done very well weight loss wise but, this was a goal I wanted...apparently not enough? grrrrrrrr oh well...one day at a time right? I'll get there...just gonna take longer. To think I passed on the chocolate, ice cream, pie etc this week.....maybe THATS what I did wrong lol. Yet another saga in the weight loss journey huh? hahaha Anywho...gonna poke around the boards a bit then go make some Turkey soup. Love ya gals and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  19. I'm with Betty, I cut my pills in 4ths and swallow with water. I have asked my pharmacist several times on different medications and she's been a great help! They love when people ask their advice that's what they went to school to do Ask away!

Sing: I didn't want to ride my bicycle, i didn't wanna ride my bike. heh heh.:guess Well I saw Bean's posting regarding possibly buying an exercise machine and thought ya know Sherry...you really should get your ars movin if you expect to be under 200 for New Years. Sitting at your computer won't do it and since DH didn't wanna go to the gym ya gotta do it on your own. So 30 minutes on my dreadcycle...I made it. Had to watch the Foodnetwork of course hahaha. Love my "Unwrapped" show....30 minutes...30 minutes of dreadcycle. So now that I got the dust off it, Oh yea plenty of that lol, I'll try to use it anytime we don't go to the gym. Of course if I were really ambitious I'd get my ars outta bed earlier (that means 4:30am) and ride the dang thing again. Oooo not sure I'll make that lol. Anywho...thanks Irene for getting me off my ars! Love ya toots! Chrispy - That psycho just scares me. What the heck is he expecting there to be no noise when you live on the bottom floor? The man needs to move into your apartment so he can't B#$ch about noise. Unreal and ya know why doesn't he do that while the landlord is showing your apartment aye? Hope you feel better soon. Bean - As far as buying exercise equipment...why don't you try posting a wanted posting in your local Freecycle group first? Why not get one free first to see if you really will use it? I know I gave my treadmill away on Freecycle to someone who asked for it mainly because my mom already has one and we moved into the same house together. I do have to thank you....after seeing your post about getting an exercise machine...I hopped on my dang Dreadcycle and did a 30 minute workout. You feeling better now? Betty - Hows working going girlfriend? I made it to work today...another quiet day. ( A gal can get used to that but, as Chrispy can attest...usually it's followed by some fall-out...hopefully nothing major ) How is your foot doing by the way? Cindy - How is retirement going? Ohhhh I can think of millions of things I'd do if I weren't working. Getting back to my tole painting would be one, building a doll house with electric lights etc, making a new quilt for my bed, reading some more books, practicing Reiki, ohhh organizing my house. Yeap I'd be busy. Congrats on your weightloss...my goodness you're doing awesome! Hope you're feeling better and DH too. All these sick folks...see...what I said is true...one of of us is down the rest of us feel it hee hee Kat - Are ya feeling better yet? How about your DH, is he ok? Snow...we haven't had much of that yet. We had a dusting a bit back but, nothing to even stay on the ground. We get threats of it then being NE the weather changes every few minutes DH was going to go for a "frosty balls" run on his motorcycle with the other guys to watch the polar bear club jump into the ocean but, now they say it's going to be icey on New Years. Me....I told him to look me up in the spring if he expects me on the bike hahaha. Maybe by then I'll own my own set of chaps. (My mom and DH were joking....they're going to get me a leather bra to wear on the bike. HA won't catch me on the bike in that.) I happen to think the picture was a great idea and considering, like you said, you got for her kids truly you owed her nothing. My DH's sister got all bent out of shape because we mentioned not buying for the adults this year since we all have kids and money is tight for everyone especially her. Well she got made and told another member of the family, who of course told me, that she was making us something and won't give it to us now because we're not giving her anything. Christmas spirit...gotta love it hahaha. It's HER problem hon...HER selfishness. I think it was great! Eileen - Ohhh I'd be in trouble at your house with the dip. I bet you make is so yummy too. How are you feeling? You're on vacation right? I hope you're enjoying it Well I know I've missed many here but, DH is calling. The "dog whisperer" is on and we've been getting some tips from him. Ya know the tips really help! Darcy - Have you seen this man? Hello everyone I missed....I hope you're all feeling well. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the night, keep on shrinkin and I'll catch up with a tomorrow! HUGS

Hey gang...I was up most of the night myself. Sour stomach it was terrible. Never had this before like I do with the band especially after the 2nd fill. I'm just getting over TOM so who knows if that had something to do with it or not. Now I have a splitting headache so I stayed home today. (Means I can pop in an play with my friends here at LBT lol) I have the starts of a headcold too. Do ya think germs are catchy on LBT? HEE HEE. Maybe it's just that we all take a little on so the person who's really sick can feel better? Now that would be a connection wouldn't it lol. Honestly....I really do think we all feel each others pain when one of us is hurting. Cindy I hope the new router helps. I think I'd be really lost if I didn't have my own computer to play with. Fortunately DH is a computer geekoid so we don't go without computers for long. He has to have his up and running in order to work. Bean - I think the best plan is to plan for a new start with 2007. Check with ya doc to see if another fill is in order then make a plan to wean out that other stuff in the house. I know I'm planning on that myself. I've done ok but, the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sure go down easy peasy so after this week...no more. DH put some back on so he wants to lose it too that helps. The tough part is my son being 16 likes some of those junky things so I've already planned on buying "some" of the stuff he likes that WE don't like lol. (Unfortunately there isn't much we don't like hence needing to lose weight lol but, we'll find stuff.) I already got DS to drink more water than diet soda. I buy 1 2liter bottle a week that's it. He now likes water. Anyway....I certainly hear ya on the holiday goodies THANK GOODNESS it's only once a year! Let us know how you make out on the fill decision. Darcy - we got a dusting of snow this morning but, it didn't stick. I'm missing it myself. Being in NE though I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be wishin it wasn't so deep lol Are you working on that quilt of yours? Betty - How's work going this week? Yesterday was great for me since more than 1/2 the building took the day off. I got through a lot of old paperwork that needed to be cleaned up. I can actually see my desk...of course now I'm out today so that won't help. Well I'll check back again to do more personals. Gotta rest a bit.
