Sorry for your loss Kat It's nice to know though that you cared enough to do what needed to be done. I hope I'm as strong if and when my pups need my help. Your kitty isn't far away.....he's with you in spirit and heart. Hugs

UGH....head cold time. DH had been sick for 3 days not looks like I'm headed in the same direction. Got the nice runny nose, scratching throat and roof of my mouth and my ears are getting blocked. YUCK. So already went to the grocery store to make myself some homemade chicken rice Soup. The guys wanted pineapple upside down cake but, not sure I'm up to make that today...we'll see. Got chicken marinating for supper so I'm hoping DH will make that for us :girl_hug: I was freezing earlier today but, it's warm out...now I'm hotter than heck. Fever setting it I think UGH. Beautiful day out there too hard to believe just a few days ago it was -5 degrees here now its over 40 out there almost 50 I think. Well I have to get out of this sweatshirt and into a tshirt for a while. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I'm game! John...one thing I did so I could sleep on my side was put a pillow under my stomach. Get in bed on your back, put the pillow up against your body and roll onto it. Hurts like heck as your belly moves over and onto it but feels better after. I found it easier to sleep on my right side because the port is on my left. Hope you're able to sleep better soon. Congrats on your band.

Wow up and moving already this morning the day after surgery? Good for you I didn't have gas pains myself the first day I got them later on during the week so just in case you might want to get some gas-X strips to help you out. Some people are lucky though and don't have the gas pains...hopefully you're one of them

I'm alive just been too busy during the day to post and too tired at night. I've been keeping up with the reading though. Please know that whenever any of you mentions a loved one or yourselves not feeling well I say a prayer and send well wishes to you and your families. So sorry you're all going through so much lately.....this website certainly makes the world a smaller place though doesn't it? Its nice to know we have a place to come to and vent, laugh, cry and just enjoy each others accomplishments and company. I love ya all and hope you all have a wonderful Friday! Hopefully I'll get back here this weekend to peek around some more. Got some things going on here as well.....gray hairs are popping like crazy lol. Hugs!

One day at a time, One thing at a time...break it down to one thing and handle the one thing or make a to do list and check them off one at a time. Mandy has some great ideas there. Diane, you can do this...just one step at a time and ASK DH for help. My DH actually told me if I don't ask he's not going to know what I want or need as far as help so he lets me be. I think that's true for most guys. Take a deep breath in and slowly let it out then go for it girlfriend. You can do this!

Hey John, Glad you're doing well. Hmmm you might wanna check in with your doc weather it's ok or not for cardio in a week. I suppose it would depend on what type of cardio workout you were going to do. YOu don't want to pull the stitches that are on your stomach holding your band in place...the stitches inside not on your abdomen. I was the same way right after surgery...not wanting to eat that is. It is a different feeling isn't it? lol You're on your way now I'm game for another get together! April sounds good to me too

Ummm recipe.....Let me try here 1 box or can chicken stock (about 28oz?) 1 chicken bouillan cube 1 cup hot Water 3 boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1'' chunks 1 cups sliced baby carrots 1 small can baby sweet peas, drained 2 celery stalks, sliced 3 tablespoons dried minced onion 2 tsp dried parsley 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp black pepper 2 tsp crushed rosemary Instant mashed potatoes used for thickening put all ingredients except the instant mashed potatoes into the crockpot and cook for 6 hours or until chicken cooked and carrots tender. Add instant mashed potatoes 1/4 cup at a time until consistancy is what you like for the sauce/gravy. I think I ended up using about 1 cup of potatoes. Make sure to stir really well so the potatoes don't clump up although they still taste good if you do hahaha. Serve over wheat Pasta...we used the Rontini or spirals. We actually thought...this same mixture would be great with real potatoes in it cubed up. After it's done cooking in the crockpot you could pour it into a 9x13 baking dish and put the Pillsbury biscuits on top and bake it until the biscuits were done. We're going to try that next time.

Peeking in from work. Cindy - I have my pedometer on today Thanks for reminding me. At least maybe now I can help my goils add some miles to the total. Wish they had a better clip...I'm afraid I'll lose it in the commode hahaha. Gotta keep my hand on it when I'm in there The chicken came out great in the crockpot but, I couldn't tell ya the recipe hahaha. I changed things a few times trying to thicken it up. Tried a Rue, tried a little cornstarch...didn't want to use too much because then you taste it so guess what I did? I used instant potatoes to thicken it up and it was great! We served if over wheat Pasta and the family loved it. I have plenty left over so tonight it's grilled chicken, mashed potatoes with the ala-Sherry (lol) over it. Yumm! How did everyone do with the full moon/eclipse?

Hmmmm you may just leave an impression hahaha. My friend ended up using two Johnny's one in the front and one in the back :Banane32: That's why she warned me. Our hospital has sinced ordered larger ones...hmmm seems they should of done that when the created the Bariatric center in the FIRST place lol. Hmmm lets see....think of a project you need to get done at home and work on that before surgery lol. That will help keep ya mind on the 10 lb diet thing and keep you occupied so you don't have time to think about the surgery :Banane32: My doc wanted me to lose 10 before surgery too...I didn't make it DUHHh if I could and keep it off I wouldn't need surgery, I was thinking anyway lol. I lost 6...hmmm might of been 8 but, I did go out the Saturday before and had fried cheesecake hahaha my bad but man was it good :myscared:

You're welcome Jim. My surgery was on a Monday so I worked the whole week prior and kept busy myself. On the weekend I enjoyed my Saturday with a last harrah that my friend took me out for and then it was the pre-op diet for 24 hours. I think it hit me more during Saturday of what I was about to do than it did the night before. I cried Saturday wondering what the hell I was doing to myself and why couldn't I just lose the weight on my own yadda yadda. Finally I wiped the tears and thought this way...I helped a friend with her surgery with this as well......So many times and so many diets I would try to lose this weight only to gain IT and more back. After 3 great weeks of dieting and weightloss the 4th week nothing..I'd keep going and bingo nothing again that was it. I'd eat anything I wanted and gain it all back. Well...guess what? You can't do that with the band especially when you have a few fills. You can't give up (is what I told myself) the band will help keep me going until the plateau broke and I'd start to lose again. I had that "tool" that I needed to keep myself on track. Sure you can blow it....if you want to survive on ice cream, milk shakes and other soft bad things but, once you've lost some...you won't want to do that to yourself. I know I haven't wanted to and it's been over a year now. So my friend....after the 9th you will be on your way :myscared: You'll have the help to keep on keeping on for yourself and your family :Banane32: I wish you the best! Oh don't forget when you pack for yourself to bring a bathrobe you like because quite often the dang hospitals don't have one the right size and you're going to be doing alot of walking :Banane32: Don't wanna be shinin the moon to peeps hahaha. I know it helped me as well as a comfy pair of slippers, listerine strips and some chap stick

Hey Jim, You're going to do great. All that you're going through is what each of us did before surgery. Heck I don't think you'd be normal if you went through it feeling nothing at all and not worrying in the least. I even wrote my husband, son and mother letters just in case but, I wrote them in a way that they could read them no matter what. I actually told them I wanted them to read them either way. You're still going under the knife so lap or open...either way you're under and it's scarey. But..as much as we all have ups and downs I can tell you whole heartedly...I'd do it again! There has been far more good days than bad and I've had my band over a year now. I've lost 70 pounds in a year and I know it's because the band helped me. Good luck with your journey and if ya need someone to talk to PM me and I'll send along my number so we can talk. Hugs!

    Please help! Whats Going On???

I noticed I have the feeling of more trapped air with certain foods and I sometimes do that that weird feeling as you described. I have had to stay away from certain foods since my 2nd fill because they just cause too much air to get trapped. I have that problem when I eat fruits or crisp veggies or jello. Anything that's kinda solid and doesn't break down into the tiniest of solid crumbs then this happens to me. Keep track of what you ate last, just before this problem and see if it's certain foods. Using a straw causes this too sometimes for me. If you still have that feeling and can't recongnize a certain food causing it I highly recommend calling your nutrionist or physician and letting them know. They might want to do a flouro to make sure you're band isn't too tight.

DH knew Chrispy before I did...SHE gave John the approval of me hahaha told him I'm a good one and he should keep me lol
