  1. Have you lost weight since this fill? That could be part of it too. Sometimes we swell quickly with a fill so the fill seems tighter and when the swelling goes down we feel like the fill isn't as tight. Also depending on salt intake you could feel like the fill is tight at first and as the fluid retention goes away you don't feel as tight. So many reasons it could happen really. It's definately not uncommon though, I've experienced it myself with my fills. You also want to make sure that if that keeps happening with every fill for you that you don't have a leak in the tubing. Does your doc check how much fluid is in your band each time prior to putting more in? Just curious if he/she noticed any loss in fluid inbetween your fills. Good luck!

Gooooooood Mornin' NJ folks  Cold day in New England but, it's warmin up a bit! It's been in the teens or lower lately but, the weather folks are telling us it's suppose to get in the 60's by Wednesday...go figure hahaha. That's NE for ya! Welcome Catalystmb/mary - Good luck with your band journey and welcome to the NJ thread. You'll probably discover rather quickly that alot of us aren't from NJ but, found our way here because of the great folks in here  jowjow - thank you...we're really excited for him. He wanted his so badly and it's quite an accomplishment for him because he is currently going to a Technical high school so that makes it a harder for kids to get into college because of the curriculum. He was smart though and took all honors/advance courses, did some extra activities and wrote one heck of an essay (brought tears to my eyes) on why he wanted to be a psychologist. Honestly if he doesn't end up pursuing psychology I think he should get into writing because he's always been so creative with it. Mandy - Are you done with your house projects? Ready to head back to work? Man when I look around here I know I really need to do some painting and organizing...it's finding the time and quite frankly the WANT to start such a large project UGH. I think there is something that needs to be done in every area of my house. I wish we had had more time before moving in so I could of done all that prior to getting furniture in the house because now it's just THAT much harder to do it. We did paint the kitchen prior to moving that's about it. I tell ya if you saw the colors and what the previous owner did you'd understand what I'm talking about hahaha. Hope you're able to rest a bit before heading back to work! Oh and you said below you haven't met your goal with your band yet but, let me tell ya girl...you look AWESOME and I hope I can look as good someday  Cindy - I hear ya on the sugar fest....I sooo need to get back on track. I was doing ok watching what I was eating but, we went out celebrating yesterday with my son..dinner, movie and ice cream. I wasn't as bad as I could of been but, I didn't really need the ice cream lol. We went to Olive Garden for dinner (son's choice) and I had Soup and salad there with a bread stick..not bad...went to see I Am Legend with Will Smith (ok movie...the guys liked it more, I don't like things jumping at me or the screaming...definately a guy thing haha)..they each had popcorn and candy, I stuck with Water and a few handfuls of popcorn from each and 4 sourpatch kids lol...then to Friendlys for sundaes....peanut butter cup sunday now that's where I blew it I ate the whole stinking thing. It was good though sooo today is a new day. Didn't really do too bad when I look at it but, could of been better...today we start fresh  Hope you've been able to get those fruits and veggies in. Sounds good to me too but, sometimes the fruit doesn't sit well with my band  Signgirl...We all definately have setbacks or slip-ups and the band isn't going to stop that part but, honestly when you get the right amount of fill it definately helps keep you away from BIG BIG slipups. We didn't get here overnight, remember that  One day at a time, be kind to yourself...if you slip up....take it one forkfull at a time. Sometimes eating something you want versus something you don't want, will actually keep you from a total set-back because often folks will eat what we don't want because it's healthy then go an eat what we wanted in the first place...hence if I didn't get the sundae last night i know I would of eaten chocolate at home and other sweets because I wanted that sundae. I had it, it's gone...it's another day so I'll kick it up a knotch. (Write all this down because you'll probably have to use it on me someday when I start complaining about my slip-ups ok? hahaha) You're doing great..keep up the good work! Diane...we all have our days of eating not so good see my above confessions haha. You've done great so girl cut yourself some slack and make today a new day. Betty - My house is with you..our decorations came down the first warmer day we had after Christmas. DH took all the outside things down last weekend and we took the tree down on New Years day. Things are now back in order  It's amazing though the stuff I've accumulated....now it's going to be time for spring cleaning. I really need to have a yard sale but, man I hate having those things. So much work! but so much good stuff that really shouldn't just be thrown away. How are you feeling...the foot? Hope everything is going well at work for you. It's nuts at my place...always busy but, it makes the day go by  Jetti - Have you been able to get yourself back on track? Hope all it going better for you. Reilly - How are you doing on the mushies? Isn't it great when you can finally have something with substance! Hope all is going well. Troy - Hello and welcome. I was 5'4 and 277 when I first got my band. I had high bloodpressure, my feet were so painful in the morning to walk on that it actually made me wince and sometimes cry and my back gave me so much trouble...I'm happy to say all of those have gone away since my band. Have you started the process with a bariatic center or doctor yet? They are a big help with questions especially if they have an information meeting you can attend. The bariatric center I use here has those as well as po-op group meetings but, of course i find this website easier to use and ask questions or find answers. Good luck with your process and feel free to ask any questions you have...we'll be happy to help. Eileen - Girllllll how are ya doing with your resolution? I'm trying to get that dang water in still. I was doing great with it prior to this last fill. It takes longer for things to go down now so I feel full and don't want to take that sip so I don't have an issue. Getting more in but, not all my 8 glasses yet. Have you been using the inversion table too? I have to get myself back into getting in my 10K steps again. Got a bit hectic with the holidays so hard to get them in...now it's hard to get back to is. Yesterday went to the mall to walk with DH but, needed to get my nails done too lol. Went around once with him then got my nails done while he kept walking. He went around 3 more times before I was done...needless to say I didn't get my steps in...then added the dinner, movie and Sundae to the mixture for yesterday. Oh well....I have to keep telling myself today is another day start again. Hmmm errrr as I'm sitting here typing to everyone when I should be on my dreadmill hahaha. I'll get there today though  Gonna get my 10K in I'm determined to do that at least today! Miss ya girl! Hope work is going well for you...has it settled down a little? Here is a little something for everyone...I bought a new "The Secret" desk calendar...look what was on Friday's......makes sense to me! Now to actually do it ):kiss2: If you feel bad about your body, that is a powerful feeling, and you will continue to attract feeling bad about your body. You will never change your body if you are critical of it and find fault with it, and in fact you will attract more weight to you. Praise and bless every square inch of your body. think about all the perfect things about You. As you think perfect thoughts, as you feel good about You, you are on the frequency of your perfect weight, and youa re summoning perfection. Have an awesome Sunday everyone! HUGS

    Coughing after eating

Just another thought...if she's prone to heartburn that will cause the coughing as well.
  5. SherryW

    Coughing after eating

I don't recall ever coughing after eating except when I wanted to get something out of my stomach. Is she over doing it...meaning taking a bite or two more than she should? The extra food in her esphogus could cause coughing. If she's throwing up due to too much coughing then she really does need to contact her doctor.

We have a Horizon...bought it from Dick's sporting goods. You can plug your MP3 player into it and it has speakers already, lots of pre-done programs, you can create your own and more than one person can have set programs in it so it remembers what you did last. It's really smooth to ride/use and quiet which makes watching tv while using it easy and enjoyable. Has a bottle holder too for your water. We really like ours. When I went to Dicks they were marked about 50% off but, the kid there told me they're always like that. I asked what the best sale was they've had on them and he told me the previous week they were all $100 off. So I asked him to ask the manager to give me the $100 off and I'll buy it right now....they did  So I saved myself the additional $100.

should i go to the ER??????

Have you recently had a fill? Have you had an episode prior to this of throwing up or something so stuck you heaved before? Anything that would of irritated your stomach to the point it swelled? Is it your time of the month which causes you to retain fluid or swell?

aaaaHA...found ya hahahaha Gosh why is it I sit and wonder why I haven't gotten any updates each new month? Ya think after a few years I'd learn huh? That's right...it's been a little over two years with this lovely group Well....stayed home from work today. TOM wasn't making things easy...UGH. Going through this womanly change thing really stinks! I wish it would hurry up and get over with. I see my PCP this month so I'm going to see if there is anything that can help things along or at least ease the issues each month with it. I've wanted to eat my way through house and home this week grrrr. I've done ok stopping myself but, man it's not always easy. Good thing the holiday food is out of here....still some lingering chocolate but, most of the other things have been long gone. How is everyone doing? Any NEW new year's resolutions out there for anyone? The usual one for me...lose weight, get healthier. The bodybugg is a helper. Just started a new program with it as of yesterday. Of course TOM didn't make it easy....didn't make the 1000 cal deficit but, did make over 500 so that's cool. I'll hopefully be back up to par Friday so I can go walking again. I need to get those steps in in order to make the calorie burn I need. Did everyone enjoy their Christmas and New Years? I did but, I'm glad it's over. Time to get moving in the right direction again. Mandy - sounds like you've been awefully busy girlfriend. Man I HATE to paint rooms and houses! I like to decorative paint but, not entire rooms. God Bless ya! My house so needs it too I need to do the livingroom but it's attached to the hallways up and down and it has cathedral ceilings YIKES. I'm afraid of heights! I have a bedroom done in that sponge work from the previous owner in hideous colors of green...cripe he even painted the woodwork the same color as the walls I so like woodwork either painted a different color or my preferred stained wood. Anywho...houses just cost so much to upgrade and remodel. I'd love new windows but, man....I have a kid ready for college so all this stuff has to wait. Work is still nuts....don't think that will ever change. It's been especially challenging lately but, one day at a time Like Chrispy told me......start anew....here we goooooooo...

Hey Dez...you're better off calling June when you get a chance. Honestly since your pregnant I would go with how you feel. YOU know best. You're far enough along band wise to not have to worry about the healing part which is the BIGGEST reason for the stages. You can always try mushies and see how you do. If they go down no problem then your stomach probably didn't swell from the unfill. Not likely that it would really unless Jones pushed and pulled the fill before taking it out. If he did then just go slow. You're going to know right away if you can't at least take in the mushies. Did you get a slight unfill or a complete unfill? That's another issue too. A slight unfill...when I got mine...I didn't have to do the liquid stage myself. I've had two unfills and I was fine with both, no swelling. Anyway....try mushies then move to solids remembering to chew really well.

Hey everyone....just one more day in December Then back to the drawing board with the watching everything I eat and moving my ARS more. Doesn't take much to put a few pounds back on does it grrrrrrrr I swear I have problems with receiving the updates on messages posted here. I haven't received anything for a few days and when I pop on people have posted over the weekend. Weird but, typical. The holidays went well....family can be tough but we made it through it all. Hi Eileen 2 - I'm from Massachusetts and I got to this thread just like Kat. I clicked on the "New Posts" and this group had posted something. I probably asked that familiar question..."Whats a PB?" hahaha. These lovely ladies must of answered it because I stuck around I liked the sense of humor, the no fighting and the comfiness of the group. Still do...I don't really float around posting like I used to. Of course lately there has barely been time to post here let alone other threads. Welcome! Hello everyone else...I hope you enjoyed Christmas and I'm wishing you and yours a Happy New Year!

    Bodybugg users report here!

I ordered the Bodybugg for myself and when I told my DH about how it worked he was excited and wanted one too. I have to say with both of us having one, we really do help push the other to do the walking necessary to get our steps in and calorie deficits. It's been great having someone else on the program along with me especially someone living in the same house because it makes food choices easier and we keep a "gentle" eye on the other one and help each other when we're ready to eat something we probably shouldn't. Actually I think it's more, I don't want to NOT lose and he's there as a reminder of what we're doing together.

You're welcome. Dr. Schneider is very nice, I've spoken to him a few times. Believe me when I say...the "change in eating patterns" actually ends up feeling quite normal when you're farther along after surgery. You get used to it and actually...you'll find yourself thinking back..."What the heck was I doing to myself?" I know it's that way for me...don't get me wrong, occassionally you still wish you could eat certain things that you can't now but, it keeps me out of trouble!

Hi Weedwoman....that post by Chrispy is over a year old. She actually had Dr. Jones and surgery was Oct 2006. I also had Dr. Jones my surgery was 2/06. Have you had the surgery yet?

Man I need to get back to basics with my bugg again. You're right...haven't logged all the "holiday junk". I did great up until the weekend before Christmas..DANG nabbit! I purposely didn't bake the usual Christmas goodies but, others brought them to me  Eh they didn't force me to eat em though....a trip away from home to relatives didn't help either. Oh well like someone said...that was yesterday! Just one more holiday to get through...keeping things right as best as I can and then back to basics! good luck everyone

I haven't baked Cookies yet but, was planning on doing that today :rose: yeap last minute but, Christmas isn't Christmas with at least SOME cookies. I had to wait until today because we had to go to NY this weekend to see the In-laws. That went ok but, man what a ride home in all that rain. There were times DH and I couldn't see the road. I was VERY thankful it wasn't snow though because we wouldn't of gotten home DS has to work today from 9-5...he wasn't happy but, I told him thats the retail life if you choose to work there. It's crazy out there right now...especially the grocery store. I bought stuff today for cookies and man I forgot some things. Might have to change my mind on what I'm making lol. I forgot potatos for Christmas dinner though UGH so I have no choice. The guys don't like instant sooo that's pretty much leaving me no options. I walked right by the dang things grrrrrrrr. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones and hope Santa is good to you all. Hugs!

Ok so lets see if this dang thing will let me post today It's really miserable weather here today. Another snow/sleet/rain storm. My street isn't plowed yet and I have a feeling it won't be today and it's going to be a frozen mess tomorrow. DH worked hard cleaning up our driveway while I worked on the walkway and cleaned the cars. We drove DS to work today because it's really slick and he's not experienced in the snow yet...THAT makes for a nervous mom! I have a feeling his boss is going to ask him to stay after 2pm since he's there anyway and others may not make it in. We'll see :Banane11: We went to DH's work party last night and they had it at a race track. The restaurant was pretty nice, loud group but, fun. Ummmm I was buzzin to say the least. We got there early so DH and I waited in the bar area..they had this martini called a Tiramasu Martini. Ok I'll try that...WHEW it blew my socks off and when his boss came in he bought me another one. Ohhh I was a happy girl lmao. Prior to Chrispy's sangrias at my house party last weekend I hadn't had any alcohol in almost a year. So I'm a lightweight for alcohol anyway lol. Of course trying to save calories all day so I wouldn't go over with this meal meant I hadn't eaten much before drinking either lol. Both DH and I had upset tummy's this morning but, we're back on track again today. I think that's the end of parties so that's a good thing lol I only have 5 gift certificates to get and I'm done shopping. I'm suppose to be wrapping gifts today but, man I'm feeling pretty lazy after shoveling, salting and cleaning cars. Still have laundry calling my name too UGH. Sundays are FAR from a day of rest in this house! Betty - Are you feeling better now? I sure hope so. I hope you had fun at your party. I'll get a picture posted one of these days *wink...just hate having them taken lol Cindy - You're right...things get really crazy this time of year. Not enough hours in the day huh? Hope you've been able to relax a little bit between your job, school and volunteering stuff. Eileen - Hmmm can't figure out what to get DH huh? Does he have a cordless screwdriver? Got my DH one of those last year and he uses it constantly! Very helpful when fixing small things and in my DH's case the computers. Taking the casings off and on etc. He's told me several times he loves it. I got it at Sears and it has it's own case with lots of bits with it and rechargeable battery...it's not a huge thing, most like the size of a hammer handle but strong enough to do the job. I think last year it was $20 on sale or something like that. Not too pricey. Diane/Signgirl - Take a few more days of liquids and if you're having trouble even with those then consider a slight unfill. I just went through that myself. In the dr. office I was able to get Water down no problem but, as the day went on things swelled and the water wasn't going down right either. This is the 2nd time that's happened to me. The first time I couldn't even swallow my own saliva this time I KNEW it was too much. He had put in more than I told him I wanted and sure enough I was right. He thought i was nuts when I went back and asked him to please take out .25 since I wanted 1.25 not 1.50 that he gave me. He suggested that if I lost 10 pounds it would losen up but, HONESTLY did I want to wait 5 more weeks and not be able to drink or eat to get there? I was also suffering once again from acid reflux so I knew the slight unfill had to happen. Even with it I still had a little reflux but, I've since lost 15 more pounds and no more reflux :Banane08: I wish you the best with your fill...take it slow and easy and YOU know your own body :Banane23: Patty - sorry you're still having computer trouble. I know I hate it when mine isn't working right. I hope the boys are all feeling good and ready for Santa. Pat - I love the hair especially the coloring. Is it hard to style yourself? Don't you just wish you had a 3rd hand sometimes when stying hair? I know I do. They do it so nice at the shop and then I try to repeat it at home it's like I need another hand lol. Have you finished your shopping and wrapping? Chrispy - ya still busy huh girl? hee hee. Been really snowing lately here hope you're staying warm with your new booo. (Psssss he's really nice ladies...I got to meet him last weekend. It's about DANG time as I tell Chris :success1: ) Kat - I think it's great that you do so much with your granddaughter. I would have a blast making the gingerbread houses with her. I love it when kids make them and you're clueless on what the heck they're putting on there and yet you KNOW they're doing it just to get as much candy on the dang things as possible hahaha. I've made a few with my friends daughter to learn that one lol. I think it's really special and your GD is very lucky to have you for a grandma. My mom never really got close to my son or her other grandkids....she loves them but, never really did anything with them and still doesn't. On the other hand my son is lucky my ex's mom spoils him rotten and loves spending time with him. She's 89 and absolutely adores "her boy" as she calls him. "Grammy" cooks him and his dad dinner every Wednesday night so they can spend time together and she loves making my son's favorite Fried chicken just for him. He puts in a request and you know it's made lol. She is so sweet and I miss her. Anyway....you're the sweetest to do all that you do for your family. Jetti - Your post is correct..one step at a time and it doesn't matter fast or slow as long as its something. You're really doing great with your walking and I used to do the same thing...tell myself ok today was 20 min, tomorrow i'll stay on the dreadmill 22,then 23 then 24...you build up to it. I've found if I put on a 30 min show then it goes by quicker and I don't watch the clock because I want to see the end of the show anyway :Banane27: Walking the mall has helped me too. Around here they open it up at 6am for people to walk so on weekends DH and I go for our walk around 7:30 or so and get in over 6000 steps before we leave. We'll go back again at night if we need to, to get to our 10K steps a day. Good luck my friend...keep up the great work. Diane - Oooo candy is a tough one. If I don't take the first piece I do great...take that one damn piece and I'm a gonner for the day. My favorite saying "One is TOO many and 12 isn't enough" helps me get past that urge to take that first piece...ON MOST DAYS. I'm far from perfect so I'm with ya on some of those days. Good luck staying away from it...now if you come up with a trick to trick our minds that that stuff is NOT tastey...pleasssssssse let me know hee hee Mandy - NICE gift from DH! :waytogo: You know I think the Honda I have in our shed is the same thing. DH and I bought it when I first got my motorcycle license and he painted the gas tank, fender and motor side covers this pretty paint that is green when you look at it one way and at a different angle it's purple. SOOo pretty but, ..... it's too tall for me to ride. Yeap....I'm too nervous on it for me anyway. So now it's sitting in the shed waiting to be sold along with my DH's Honda Hawk (I think it is) because when we went to look for another motorcycle for me I ummmm ended up picking up a Yamaha Midnight Venture instead. lol. Yeap I sit on the back and let him drive it. I'm holding out for an automatic motorcycle...maybe next summer or the year after. I'd be more comfortable with that for myself actually. I don't enjoy the shifting thing. Anyway, DH was suppose to post the things on Craigs list but, he's been stalling. I don't know enough about them to do it myself UGH. 3 motorcycles in a small shed just doesn't make sense lol. I wish you the best with yours..they really are a sharp looking bike and Hondas last so long :scales: Drive safe and you're right stay using your gear! May the angels ride alongside your bike :woot: (Yours too Betty!) Anne - Your dad is in my prayers and so are you and your family. Thinking of you my friend Hmmm ok I'm afraid I'm going to lose this dang post again so I'm going to click send now. So sorry if I missed anyone and I hope you're all doing well and shrinking. Oh and thank you so much for all the well wishes and congrats on my onderland. I truly appreciate it and I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's finally happened. Hopefully I'll keep it there with all this dang holiday stuff being around me lol

Heading out to DH's company party today. Don't feel like going but, do...if that makes sense. I know once I'm there I'll have fun but, this getting dolled up and ready is for the birds. Hello Everyone, I'm reading along with you but, haven't had time to get in here to post personals. I apologize for that. I'm so pooped after being on the computer all day at work and it's been pretty stressful in there lately. People are getting grouchy, the chit is hittin the fan on a few accounts which has cause an unreal amount of extra work and I'm suppose to be learning new things with my new position but, I keep getting totally sucked back into what I used to do. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do but, man oh man it makes me pretty brain dead by the end of the day. It's exceptionally easy to do that right now because there is no down time after work either. This is the first time today I've had time to actually hear myself breath and it's 10:14pm. Time to hit the sack GEESH lol. Anywho..looks like they are expecting 2 snow storms here in NE this weekend starting tomorrow. Hmm one way to burn cals...shoveling huh? BLECKKKKK Sweet dreams my friends......I miss ya. Hope everyone is doing well and shrinking
