I am 3 days post op. I struggled as well with the clear broths. They just didn’t seem to have much flavour. That is until I tried Campbells Mushroom Broth. Very tasty. Try it, see what you think.

Thanks for all the good wishes. They must have worked cause I’m now 5 hours post op, and my only issue is the gas/surgicalb pain. Surprisingly they brought me dinner 2 hours post op. Cream Tomato Soup, black Tea, and vanilla pudding with a small package of protein. My wife ate the soup, and I dipped on the tea. I am slowly working my way through the pudding, (watered down with milk). I learned very quickly about the need for sipping VERY slowly. 🤤. Went for a walk, which greatly helped the gas issue.

The big day is finally here. Just leaving for the Hospital. Surgery in 3 hours!!

Non Disclosure. My surgery date, is Oct 18. For personal reasons, I have chosen not to disclose to my family, or friends details about my surgery. My wife knows, and is fully supportive. For those of you that also chose to keep your procedure to yourself, I would appreciate any thoughts on dealing with questions, remarks from friends, or family members. Thanks.

Has anyone had success using Gas-X strips, to ease the pain/discomfort of the post op gas?

Thought I posted a few days ago. Don’t see it, so here’s a re-post. Started Liquid diet on Sept 27 (Optifast 900), for surgery on Oct 18.

I started liquid diet Sept 27, Surgery Oct 18. My clinic has me on Optifast 900. 4 shakes/day. I’m allowed 2 cups cucumber, raw spinach, or celery. I’m also allowed and clear broth, regular coffee, non sweet water flavours. I had a choice of only Chocolate, or Vanilla shakes. I am on Day 12. I make my morning shake using coffee. I also alternate using a couple of drops of coconut, or spearmint food extract for flavour. There seems to be quite a variety of clear broths avail, including chicken with roasted garlic, Thai chicken, pho chicken, and mushroom. My favourite is the mushroom.

Started liquid diet (Optifast) Sept 27, surgery Oct 18. My nutritionist said caffeine ok during this phase. Post op decaf only. I make my morning shake (chocolate) with coffee, and a a drop or two of coconut, or spearmint food extract. Tasty.
