The nervousness is normal. I was where you are now. The only thing you can do is gut it out. You can do this!

Loose Skin Suggestions
clevergirl replied to pixystix0116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glycolic acid peels for your neck. Any product that has glycolic and salycilic acid in it will help rejuvenate new skin. RetinA could also help. I'm dry brushing now in the hopes that the daily exfoliation will help along the way. It feels amazing and my skin is so soft. -
Calories at 1-2 weeks post-op
clevergirl replied to Lizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 4/17. My dietitian urged me to make my goal 1000 calories daily with 60-80 grams protein. I mostly hit 800 calories with consistency. My FAVORITE thing is a cup of 2% organic milk, a scoop of unflavored Unjury protein and a tablespoon of sugar free pudding mix (my faves are banana, cheesecake, and chocolate) and mixing it well in my bullet. Refrigerate at least two hours and it's the consistency of melted ice cream. Sooooo yummy. That treat is around 250 calories. -
Anyone have extra Gas X strips they want to sell? Everyone seems to be out of stock
clevergirl replied to Pistolera's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I think I still have several. Pm me your info and I'll send to you. -
I will be moving to purees next week and my surgeons office has recommended baby food meats. Anyone have any favorites? Recommendations?

My colleagues think I had a paraesophogeal hiatal hernia repair. I wanted an excuse for the limited diet as well. -
Thoughts on Abdominal binder after surgery
clevergirl replied to BrodieGL25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought one for myself and found it indispensable the first several days after surgery. -
Bending over Post-op
clevergirl replied to Heres2SecondChances's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was bending over just fine 2 days after surgery. -
I'm using PatchMD for everything. B12, multi, iron, calcium, and biotin. I work at a pharmacy and have been talking with the owner about starting a patch vitamin subscription service!
-
Sounds like you need to up your calories.

I'm really digging the patch vitamins. I don't know why it's easier for me to remember to apply them than it is to take pills, but it is. Where are you wearing yours? Do you rotate? Some places seem more comfortable and less noticeable than others. Pro tip: don't wear them on the inside of your upper arm. OUCH!!

Popular day. It was mine too. I was released Tuesday afternoon. Was very weepy yesterday until I filled my pain meds (my pharmacy closed before I was discharged) but after, I was fine. Walked a bit today and my heating pad has been my favorite thing. I'm sipping on something constantly and had tomato soup for lunch. So delicious! I had purchased all these beautiful organic broths and when I tried them they tasted like cardboard soaked in water. So Campbell's soup for me!

I have just completed the first week of my 2-week pre-op diet. The first and second day were hard. Then it got easy...... Protein shake for breakfast. Egg beaters and fat free cottage cheese omelet with grape tomatoes for lunch. Cup of fat free Greek yogurt and cup of fruit for snack. 3 ounces of tuna and 3 ounces of chicken with a can of green beans for dinner. Protein shake for after dinner snack. I'm full. I'm physically satisfied. I'm not physically hungry. I'm hovering around 1000 calories a day. So why can't I eat like this all the time, every day and "do it myself?" Why is it in the face of surgery that I'm so disciplined and careful and attentive? Could I just cancel surgery and hope that I could continue being this disciplined?

How would you describe your "cheating"? I'm on my pre-op diet (surgery is 4/17) and I've not had trouble....yet. Then again, my surgeon has us eating real food (not my favorites) but not just liquid.

My surgery is April 17. I am having trouble concentrating on things that I need to do (particularly at work) to prepare for a two week absence. I start one thing and then move to the next before the first is complete and then am paralyzed by what all needs to be done so I end up doing nothing. Same at home. I just want to come home and go to sleep. Anyone else feeling these types of "paralysis"?

Anyone not wanting to read a rant, exit now. I'm pissed. I've had to go through the motions for five months now for my six month waiting period before I can have surgery, which is scheduled for April 17th. I'm pissed because everything I learned from the nutritionist, I had learned before on the million other diets I've tried and the forums I've read. She told me that most people, at the end, say that they are so happy that they had this time to learn and prepare. I'm not. I'm just pissed that I had to wait. My mother did not have to wait for six months before her breast cancer surgery so she could learn to live with breast cancer. My niece did not have to wait for six months before receiving insulin so she could learn how to live with Type 1 Diabetes. Why the hell do we have to wait? It feels punitive. Like saying "hey fatasses, you get to wait and be fatasses some more! Why? Because we feel like it!!!" I went to see my shrink because of all of the anger I was feeling and that one mental health counseling session accomplished more than any meeting with the nutritionist. I'm headed to the nutritionist now to hear other stuff that I've already read about or already know. My lunch hour wasted. I'm almost to the point of throwing my hands up and saying F%*K it.

I met with my nutritionist on Monday who made a remark about using a laxative prior to surgery so that I wouldn't be straining after. Anyone else do this or have it recommended? My pre-op diet is low carb, not liquid, so I will be eating solid food.
-
I just went to the grocery to buy everything for the liver shrinking diet, which I start Monday the 3rd. It just got real and I'm scared I've never had surgery. I'm not afraid of my life after, just afraid of the surgery itself.

Pissed Off and Rebelling
clevergirl replied to clevergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How very awesome it must be to know and make judgments about people who post on the internet. It couldn't possibly be because they considered and researched the procedure FOR YEARS before deciding to bite the billet and make the call. It couldn't possibly be because they were having an off day and needed to blow off steam. Yes! Of course it was emotional immaturity and inevitable failure that leads to feelings like this! How terribly perceptive. -
Hello Friends! I am gathering the things I believe I will need for my surgery, hospital stay and at home but I'm less confident of my post-surgery at home list. I've purchased a heating pad and Vitamin Patches as well as 10 ounce reuseable Water bottles. I will be getting an abdominal binder. I have bone broth and flavored chicken broth in my list as well. I know that I should not "stock up" on stuff, but I'd like to have some things so that my family is not inconvenienced waiting on me any more than they will already have to. Please tell me your plans or experience for things you have, will get or wish you had when you came home from the hospital. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What to tell people?
clevergirl replied to AstroGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't let anyone bully you into telling people you don't want to. My mom "convinced" me to tell my sisters and I've regretted it ever since. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hello friends! I'm 2 months away from surgery and today I am so ready to have it done and over with!!! My husband is a "normal" sized guy who enjoys hiking, biking, going to sporting events etc. I am so looking forward to joining him in all these things! Anxiety over surgery procedure.
clevergirl replied to Sugarnspice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you. I've never had any type of procedure done and am scared. I just keep telling myself that this is a relatively routine surgery that my surgeon does every single week and that I am no different than any of those other people. That and I hope they give me a big dose of Valium the day of! Hahahahahaa Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I need your help. My surgery is scheduled for 4/17. I've told my husband, mother and two sisters about my surgery. My parents divorced when I was young and my dad remarried when I was 17. At this time I was hovering around 170 pounds. His wife was and remains a real b***h. During that time, when I was in high school, she would make thinly veiled references to my weight, buying me stuffed animals of elephants, hippos, pigs.....you get the picture. Fast forward 21 years and she and my dad have a daughter (my half sister -who doesn't know about the surgery) who is more overweight than I was at her age. I do not want to tell my dad about this surgery because he can't keep his mouth shut and will tell his wife, who I can't stand. Help me. What do I do? My family is local, so it's not like I can hide out. I had considered telling him I will be having a hernia repair, but I don't even want him at the hospital. I adore my dad, but hate his wife.
