When to stop eating
Malin replied to justabitunique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve lets me know with a quickness when to stop eating. I can feel it. -
calling all December 2016 sleevers!
Malin replied to OhHeyMarina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YESSSS! CHEESE! I bought a package of the light Baby Bell cheeses. I eat one when I get home from work. Tides me over nicely to dinner. -
Almost 5 weeks post op and just one HUGE question...
Malin replied to Coachthex32's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel the same way! Why didn't I do this SOONER instead of spending hundreds on pills and powders. Heck, if I'm being honest, I could say I've spent thousands on things that didn't work. -
So - this is what hungry feels like?
Malin replied to Wonder WomanNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you know, now that you mention it, it is different that it was before. And I know that supposedly the hunger hormone Ghrelin supposedly diminishes after a sleeve, but I do get hungry, like 'I need to eat NOW' hungry. I get the sensation you mention @WonderWomanNJ I was hoping it would be like I was when I was taking Phentermine and not be hungry at all. NOPE. I'm hungry. But of course, I take 4 bites of something and I'm full!!! -
My BMI wasn't high enough for the past three years. My sleep apnea wasn't 'bad enough' either.

GIRRRRLLLLLL, that MEME! That is sooooo me. I am not proud of this, but once I ate AN ENTIRE BOX OF SAMOAS..all by myself, in a car ride...and it wasn't even a long car ride, just a ride across town. -
Help...pain, weak, and discouraged

I am one month post-op. I get nauseated after I eat anything lately so I'm back on Protein shakes. -
What is wrong with literal overly sensitive assholes?

I'm scratching my head at WHAT could be the problem with the info you put out. You wording, your advice was just fine. I wasn't there at the meeting, but good on 'ya for taking time to pass your experiences on to the newbies or newbies to be. -
Yep, my stomach sound like it's about to RELEASE THE KRACKEN sometimes. I'm adapting, slowly, to that little feature. I had my surgery a month ago and it still makes all kinds of sounds.

How fast can you return to work ?
Malin replied to Natí Beesh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back in the office on the following Monday. I worked a couple of half days that week. I think 2 weeks is the average though. Don't push it--you'll be tired anyway. -

OMG, how did you know about my CHEETOS! I hid them behind my Swedish Fish and pizza so no one could see them. -
MEN vs WOMEN & the perception of body image and weight in society?
Malin replied to Diva Taunia's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
To be honest--it always seemed to me it was 'ok' if guys had some extra weight on them whereas women HAD to be thin. Maybe that's my personal programming. It seemed when I was in college that way, and I suppose I've carried that into my adult life. When I was in the military, I felt the weight charts favored the males over the females. -
They're bringing in food???? to your kitchen? oh heck no

I feel ya. I can't do my hair. All I can do is wash and dry it. It's so sad. But makeup I can do! No, I don't have time for contouring/strobing, highlighting, spackling every morning. I might get a foundation or a BB cream on. Agree with a prior poster on this thread, don't waste your money on cheaper makeup at our age. Lancôme Teint Idole is wonderful. As for what you wear, go for the cut and fit more than the color. You can have the best color for your skin type, but if it looks like it was sewn together by a pre-school class well, color doesn't matter. (then again, I'm a seamstress...I'm picky about clothing style.) Another sign of my low girl-fu, I can't tie a bow to save my life. All my friends can make the prettiest bows. NOPE. not me. IT looks like a wad of spaghetti when I try it. Damn, it's hard to be a girl. we have to know a lot!

When I was in Mexico a few years ago, you could by Retin-A over the counter. Heck, they were selling it in the souvenir shops! -

One of my good friends who had a sleeve done a couple of years ago brought me a present the first day I was home from the hospital after having my sleeve done--Fiber that dissolves in everything. And I DO use it in nearly everything. Make it your new BFF.
-
RNY can be reversed. It's one of the "pros" of choosing that surgery over sleeve, although it is almost never actually done. To the OP: It's not really clear from your post what happened. Are you doing better now? AH! yes, that's right. Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet. Like you said, reversals aren't done much. But, sleeve is not reversible. My new buddy for life.
-
Reversed? If you're speaking about the sleeve or RNY those can't be reversed.

The bullet hole decal--you earned your Redneck stripes today, my friend. Saaaaalute!

Officially on the losers bench!
Malin replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YESSS! UGH! it's still not pleasant for me to hiccup like that, but it's like EVERYTIME I EAT. Now that I'm 4 weeks post op I don't have pain, it's just weird and ...embarrassing. I feel like a science experiment sometimes, but HEY! as long as the scale goes down, I don't mind the hiccups. -
My dad died after a gastric bypass in 1982. He never left the hospital, so it wasn't an issue with not following a diet plan--he never had a chance to do so. I believe it was medical negligence, I was only 8 and there was a lawsuit. THAT ASIDE--my mom had a sleeve done a few years ago, and I had mine back in December. To quote my favorite TV show, "A lion does not concern itself with the opinions of sheep." I know that's hard when it's your MOM, but...when you're an adult...you do what you have to do. Period.
