Hey guys! Hope you are having a wonderful Halloween Friday! I have an NSV and wanted to share. I had a great run today and I finished my 5K in 38:30. I've improved by about 6 1/2 minutes in 6 weeks. Not bad! I know I could do a lot better because I made that time doing my jog/sprint routine. If only I would push myself everyday to do better! Anyway, I'm happy with it for now! I'm going to shower and go find a face painting kit for myself for tonight. I'm feeling flashy today, so I think I'll go with something glittery! Have fun everyone and be safe!!!

Hey Leslie! Glad you are feeling better. Take it easy for the next couple of days so you make sure to recover fully. Turler - sorry you are not feeling well and having to work so much. I hope you are feeling better soon. Mom - Yes, my kids are excited too. We have a carnival at church and will be going to that. They are doing a hayride and everything this year. It should be a lot of fun. Oh my gosh you guys, I was so bad today. I went up to church this afternoon to help set up stuff and my dear friend put me in charge of separating the candy. What was she thinking?!? Well, I ate three mini candy bars before I even thought too much about it. I was hungry and it was there and it was the good stuff. I felt sick afterward. I was a good girl though because I logged it. We didn't work out today in class so I've got to try to get in a run this evening. I'm not feeling well either. I just feel really achy all over and I have a headache. I hope I'm not getting sick too. I really don't have time for that nonsense! Hope everyone else has a "spooky" day tomorrow! Have fun!

I'll have to try one of those now too. I've tried the full body type before and they never fit quite right. I'm top heavy. I just get the ones that come up under my boobs and then cut the legs off so I can wear it with pants, etc. I find those give me a shaplier figure and waist. I can't wait to get to the day when I can just put on a pair of pants and not have to worry about tucking everything in or sticking out in places. I also have to wear one when running as it's very uncomfortable otherwise.

LOL! I know what you mean. I'm not sure I want to go there. If I see legwarmers, I'm done! I always feel self conscious in leggings, like I'm naked or something. I went shopping a couple of weeks ago and was actually horrified at all the 80's style clothes that were on the racks...horizontal stripes, skinny jeans, and {{{gulp}}} crochet and knit tops and sweater vests! Now, if only big hair would come back in, I'd be set!! I mean really, can't anyone come up with anything original? Why do we have to keep going back in time! I have enough scary pictures from the 80's, don't need to do it again! Anyway, that's my rant for the day! :w00t:

I can finally post! It wouldn't let me on at all yesterday!! L2L - I hope you feel better soon! I hear it's really going around. Mom - glad you are giving the clean eating a shot. It really does work and I notice a difference in my skin. If you got the same magazine I did (Oxygen Nutrition), the curry recipe in there is delicious. Brandy - I too wear a control garment. I just have so much extra skin, unless I'm wearing a T-shirt, it's a must. I'm still stuck between sizes. My size 16 jeans are huge, especially in the booty and legs. I look like I'm wearing a diaper. Not pretty! However, the 14's still do not look right. It's so annoying. I have all of these pretty tops and no pants to wear. I'm grateful to have this problem and I know I'm loosing inches. It's coming off, I can feel it, but it would be nice not to have to go pantless in the winter months! LOL! Yeah, how's that for a nice mental image?!? Hey, Turler, where are you? I hope you are well!! Have a great day everyone!!!

Way to go Turler! That's awesome! I'm excited too. I lost another 1.5 pounds. It's exciting because TOM is still around and I drank two margaritas last night. I figure I was brave to even get near the scale today, but I'm glad I did. I'm hoping my weight loss will now catch up with all the work I've been doing! Woo Hoo!! Tonight my oldest DD and I went to the Celebration of Life service for the son of my friend I was telling you about. He passed away last week. The service was so amazing!!! I've never seen anything like it. It was so uplifting and positive and beautiful. What a blessing to be a part of such an awesome tribute! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Hey Gwenn! I'm glad to hear from you. I'm really sorry to hear about your uncle and all the other stressors in your life. Hang in there! Hope to hear from you again soon. Mari - Wow!! YOu have done great! What's your secret? :smile: Glad to hear from you, keep it up and keep us posted! Brandy - Awesome! 60 lbs in 6 months, you can't beat that with a stick!! LOL! You are looking great too. I'm hoping I'm a little less tight today. So far I've only done soft stuff and liquids. I posted yesterday, but know I didn't get in that many calories. I would start to eat and then not be able to get it down, but I was too lazy to figure out how much I really ate. I actually PB'd ice tea last night. It's weird right now, the later it gets the tighter I am, usually it's the other way around. I had to switch to hot tea last night as hot liquids go down just fine. I was really hungry today though. I worked out quite a bit too. Needless to say, I'm feeling a little fatigued today. I'm trying to think of something healthy and yummy for dinner that I can actually get down! Any suggestions? I know I will get back to normal in a day or two. I just have to work through it. Hope everyone else is doing well! Have a great day (or evening)!

Hey guys! I've been on a kindergarten field trip all day. I just have to say, they do not pay those teachers enough! I'm exhausted and it was only today. It was fun though. TOM arrived today a little early I might add, but at least I'm getting it over with. I'm still tight, but not as bad as yesterday. My caloric intake is still going to be low today. I think fall has finally arrived here in Texas, at least for today. We have church tonight, but I'm seriously considering staying home, getting a fire going and crafting or something. I need to do something creative as that is my stress outlet. I hope you are all doing well. Have a nice evening!!

Me too, me too!! I haven't been in the chat room in ages. Oh my gosh, I am so tight tonight! It started this afternoon, but I didn't think about it until later. I almost PB'd a protein bar and after a while, I wished I had. It was so painful. I made a great dinner and was so hungry, but I haven't been able to get anything solid down this evening. I've been cramping today so TOM is on it's way! Crap! I'm about to make myself a big protein shake and watch Biggest Loser that I recorded. I'm starving and want substance dang it!!! Oh well, liquids here I come! :grouphug: Hope you are all having a great evening!!

Let me know if you want info on Clean Eating, I've been into it for a while now. Am I religious with it, no but I always come back to it and hopefully it will slowly become my lifestyle completely (well, okay, not completely, but you get the picture! LOL). I've totally spamed today with really long posts, but I'm happy to send you any info you might want. Clean Eating is the premise for my final project that I'm working on.

Glad you are back, we missed ya! OMG!!! I love Tosca Reno!!! I have every books she's done. She has a new one out for kids. I'm going to get it soon. She also writes for Oxygen magazine and every few months they put out a Nutrition mag with just recipes and such. It's great and I love clean eating!! I'm glad to find someone else who knows about it.

1. Yes, mostly because of my classes, but I'm learning where I need to be and I use it as a guide. 2 -3. I try to do at least 40 min, 5 x week - but this is real life and it's not always so. 4. Yes, 2 days per week for 45-60 min 5. Yes, always. However due to time constraints sometimes it's not the full 40 min. 6. Always before. I'm spent after lifting weights. Yes, it's true for the first 10-15 minutes you burn the sugar stored in your muscle then the fat. The longer you go, the more fat you burn. I would have to say I don't agree with 60 min per day of intense cardio; however, in my classes they teach that you should do some type of "lifestyle activities" everyday which could include climbing the stairs instead of using the elevator, gardening, cleaning house, etc. These are the activities that keep you active on a daily basis. These activities can be broken up into segments, ie 15 minutes here, 10 minutes there, etc. According to my text book they recommend 3-6 days per week of active aerobic activity for 20+ minutes. This is for optimal health, not weight loss. This is where you would probably be able to maintain your weight. To loose weight, you would need to increase your time and for cardio vascular benefits these need to be consecutive minutes and you would need to be within your target heart rate zone. And yes, technically you will burn more calories in the cold than not, but IMHO that would be a ridiculous way to try to burn extra calories unless you just dig it. I wouldn't recommend joining the Polar Bear Club or anything! LOL! Anyway, I hope this helps. Is it now as clear as mud, do you need more info? Just let me know. I hope you don't think I know it all, I just happen to be studying these things this semester. I'm actually also doing a huge project for my tech writing class and I'm doing it on nutrition and healthy living. I'll be giving a short presentation at church on a Wed night when we have dinner. I'll be making healthy entrees and talking about how to maximize your nutrition and daily activities. So, I've done a lot of research lately.

Leslie - thanks for setting up our group on dailyplate. That's awesome, I didn't know it would do that. Now we can stop transferring it over here right? {{{fingers crossed}}} LOl! Brandy - I couldn't find you yesterday, but I've gotcha today. Hey, where's mom? Is she still on her trip? I got good news today in P.E. We had our midterm evals and I've lost more inches, my body fat went down 3%, my resting heart rate went way down, and I lost a total of 8 pounds (3 of that was this week). So, I'm hoping the weight plateau is broken! I'm 3 pounds from Onderland!! But even if my weight loss slows down even more, I at least know that I'm continuing to loose inches. I lost about 2.5 inches off my hips, about as much off my waist, and of course more in the boob area. I gained inches in my shoulders, but that's from lifting weights or at least that's what I'm telling myself! HA! All of that was accomplished in 6 weeks. Anyway, I feel better for the moment! :biggrin:

Check it out. I know they have evening classes and my college even has some really early classes. Oh don't get me wrong, I couldn't even tell you where my videos are at the moment, but I do have them! LOL! I would just rather run. It's faster, it burns cals, and I enjoy it. I have a really short attention span! :tongue2: I do have a couple that are really great. They are the Biggest Loser workouts. One is Cardio Blast or some such thing. It was a really great workout. Notice I said "was". LOL! Now I'm going to be paranoid about my treatmill! Ha! I think I'll have hubby check the belt for me! You wanna hear something really gross? I love to get all sweaty and stinky from my workout. The more I sweat, the more I like it! :biggrin: It makes me feel like I've accomplished something really great, almost like I can feel the pounds melting away! Weird, I know!!

Your post reminded me of something my nutrtionist said during my eval. She said to make sure to eat solids, even though it might be hard, because you can get intolerant of regular food or something to that effect. I haven't ever heard that again and I had forgotten about it. So I don't know if that's true or she was just blowin smoke. Also, if you are even slightly dehydrated it will make eating more difficult. Glad you are back! We missed ya!! Brandy - Sorry about your gym. I finally decided a couple of years ago that I was just wasting my money and I splurged for a really nice treadmill. It was a chunk of change at the time, but it's paid for. No more membership fees, etc. I have a bunch of weights and some videos too. Kind of my own personal gym. It was the best decision for me since I was mostly just using the treadmill anyway. One other thing you might look into is classes at your local college. They have yoga, kick boxing, etc. Of course you have to do a little work because it's a graded thing, but it's certainly cheaper than a personal trainer. I'm taking a P.E. class and weight lifting. The weight class is better than my own personal trainer because he feels so sorry for me and gives me lots of personal attention! LOL! It cost me less than $50 for 16 weeks, twice a week.

Believe me, it's an all out sprint for my little shorty-short legs!! LOL!! Hence, only 30-45 secs at a time! I'm seriously thinking about moving my treadmill around to give me more room in case something like that happens! LOL! Amen Sister!! We all should remember that when we hit plateaus or even just have a bad day! I used to have this dream at my heaviest weight that I could run again. It was sort of like the "Live Free" moment for Marty on Madagascar! LOL! It felt so great to be able to do that again, in my dream. Then of course I would wake up and realize I couldn't "live free". But I AM NOW, BABY!!!! It's the best thing ever!! :biggrin::thumbup::wub:

Congrats Aclubb!!! That's awesome! You too Kathy! I'm so happy for you. Lyn - sorry about your race, but your sweet granddaughter is right, there will be more. I did a 5K this morning on the treadmill. I've been doing faster intervals to increase my endurance. I did 7.0 today for 30-45 sec intervals then back down to 6 or 5 depending on how I was feeling. I am amazed at how much better my cardiovascular endurance is now. It takes longer to get my heart rate up, but on the flip-side it returns to normal a lot faster! It feels so good not to be huffing and puffing when going up steps or whatever. Feeling healthy has to be the best NSV ever!! I hope you all have a great day!!

Turler - I know how discouraging that is {{{HUGS}}}; however, there may be a perfectly good explaination. Here are some possibilities... **I don't know where you went hiking, but if you went up in elevation that could be it. **Did you drink margaritas? The salt and sugar makes me swell up like a balloon. I never get on the scale within three days of drinking those little gems. **Have you been drinking enough water? You need to flush your system. **Are you too tight? I ask because you said you could only eat a bite or two before it feels uncomfortable. **Is it time for TOM? If so, enough said! I hate to say it, but Brandy is right. You probably need to log maybe for just a few days to a week so you can really see where you are getting your calories from. I was amazed at how many calories I was consuming with my coffee throughout the day, like over 100 everyday. So, when I realized that I switched to a lower calorie creamer. Problem solved. Don't look at it like a chore, consider it another tool to get you back on track. Also, if you raised your caloric intake (I don't know what it was to begin with), you might want to see if it's too much with your level of activity. This journey is a puzzle, you have to keep trying pieces to see if they fit. If it doesn't fit for you, change it up. What ever you do, don't starve yourself. I'm so glad we all stick together in these situations. Isn't it amazing how similar all of our experiences have been? We've all hit a plateau, so at least we are not alone.
