  1. Hiya. Went through the "what on earth have I done?" feeling on the first week. Am now over 42lb lighter so that is no longer a question and am concentrating on trying to get enough Protein. How's it going with you? Sent from my E2303 using the BariatricPal App

    Normal hospital stay?

I think I must be the exception to the rule here. I was in for 3 nights after spending 2 days on two drips for Fluid and morphine. It was not a comfortable time as I had complications
  3. If there's one thing that we will all have in common it's the fact that we will still enjoy what we have. Probably more so
  4. A mistake was made and learnt from. I made one today thinking I was ready for a soft scrambled egg, wrong. Give it another week. Body not ready for it. Even if you stay within the rules you will still need to be guided by your body.
  5. He fellow sleevers I'm just outside Tunbridge Wells and had mine done Oct 14th. Almost finished second week of puree. It's been an interesting learning curve......... Or is that a learning vertical line????

    Sleeved in November

@tapgirl Welcome to the club :-) I had mine done on Oct 14th and like almost everybody I had a bit of a mental problem dealing with it at first but am back in the right place now. Hope all is going well for you.

    UK forum users

Greetings one and all. Got sleeved on Oct 14th at Kings in Denmark Hill. Things are a tad different to how they used to be :-) As many have said, Protein shakes are pretty awful and given that my taste buds are on strike re sweet things it's proving to be a bit of a headache :-)
  8. Surgery of any type is daunting. Like Porkchopexpress, I've been sliced and diced under the knife a few times...... Ok 11 including the sleeve job :-) Firstly. Everyone you deal with will be there to help you Secondly, You'll be out of it so no worries Thirdly, there will be discomfort and self doubt after. As long as you are ready for this you will be ok. If you struggle ask for help! There's no shame in asking. I was in for a total of 3 nights but I had to be different and had a few breathing complications but to be honest I never felt scared. I will say that of all the operations I've had this was the most challenging mentally I know the system in the UK is different but we are all the same when it comes to pain, worry and the need for support. You will be fine and withing a week you'll be cursing the fact that you're running out of ideas for Soups then purees or like me you'll be cooking too much and filling your freezer Enjoy the journey

    In ONE WORD...

    Chilling
  10. For myself its a case of just checking it once a week and being happy that its still going. Once it stops moving then I know I have to up my game
  11. 3 weeks for me. 1st week felt awful but there were still a lot of drugs to leach out of the body 2nd week was mostly disbelief that I had done it 3rd week feeling good. Still the occasional bit of discomfort but mostly learning what my body needs rather than wants. As was said before, we're all different. Take your time

Is It True What They Say???

This thread just goes to show the fascination men have with this part of the body I have 2 friends who have had "switches" installed to assist with erectile problems and one who is considering an extension................. If they were to read this lot they would go for liposuction in the offending area to increase size as well!!! You hear of men joking about women putting a stitch in themselves to make it smaller but that's nothing compared to the average male
  13. There are so many people against this kind of surgery......... Usually people who have never had a weight issue to deal with..... Only one person knew I was having this done. None of my friends or family are even aware that I went in to hospital for 3 nights and took two weeks off after. They would have all been against it. I feel no guilt or regret for keeping it from them. It was my decision and it is my life that is improving

    Hi

I found coping quite easy after the first week. Follow the advice given by your team, don't rush things and don't let your brain overcome what your body actually wants. The mental side of things is the key here I think. If you get yourself into the right mindset all will be well. Good luck for the 9th

    Hi

Hi @The New Kel Many thanks. I live just outside Tunbridge Wells. Had my op at Kings College Found out loads of info on here. Seems to be one of the better sites

  17. Hi all I am currently into my first week on puree. My meal sizes are around or just under the 100g mark and they take a good 30 min to eat. But there is a minor problem..... Does anyone else suffer from a build up of excess mucus? I'm not drinking prior to or during lunch and I know I'm not overeating. It's not a very nice feeling half way through a meal and it's a good job I live on my own as it can happen 3 or 4 times in a meal... lol Any thoughts or advice welcome. Many thanks.
  18. Be happy that you're not having it done for free on the UK NHS system. Took me two years to get to the operating table although some do it a little quicker However, it's a good system and I have nothing but praise for the people who help us out, I could have gone private but it's very expensive.
  19. Well here goes. I started on the journey around 2 years ago. The NHS make you jump through hoops to qualify for an op. Followed all the rules and finally went in on the 14th Oct 16. Under the knife around 08.30 and conscious sometime after 17.00 the same day. The first 24 hours was uncomfortable to say the least however that soon passed. Day two was basically a sip Water day over and over and over again. As the day wore on the sickness became less and I was able to keep it all down. Sunday and I'm up and out of bed. Managed a few trips up and down the ward. Monday and it was time to go home. Lot of instructions, lots of guidance and lots of help offered if I needed it. I'm sore and tired but nothing more than expected. This is a huge life changing procedure and it's only just started..... . Watch this space! Sent from my E2303 using the BariatricPal App

    On a journey

The puree stage continues and I had my first scrambled egg today. Just the one and it was very wet. Took ages to eat and I only managed about 3/4 of it but it was very yummy :-) The one big thing I have noticed is that I crave more seasoning on whatever I'm consuming. My food bill for the month has been amazing :-)
  21. My first two weeks has seen a 36lb loss. Amazing myself with it all. Had to buy braces to hold my trousers up for now as I refuse to buy new for the first few months....... I may have to revise that though :-)

    Will I be broken forever?

I've been in and out of hospital for years. Mostly heart stuff and having been sliced and diced in that department on eight separate occasions I can honestly say that having a sleeve done was psychologically the hardest to deal with. I went under the knife on the 14th Oct and I spent the next week asking myself what the hell did I do, why did I do it?!?!?. am I stupid or what???? I've just moved on to puree foods and the feeling of dread has left me. it's a huge, positive life changing operation. Just don't rush things and it will all settle down. Your body knows what to do. Just give it the support it needs :-)
  23. For me it was the vomiting on the day after. Not that painful but it was sip, sick, sip, sick for about 2 or 3 hours. After that they gave me something to control it and all I had was a bit of pain from the op sites and the gas. I was lucky enough to be on a self administered morphine drip..... Magic stuff....... I was in a total of 3 nights Just keep in mind that pain is natures way of telling you you're still alive :-) Seriously though, it was nowhere near as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. Good luck

If it's true there are a lot of potential adult movie stars knocking about :-)

    On a journey

Started on puree foods today. Quite a shock as the amount of time it took to eat a meal was quite interesting. 45 min for a semi liquid lunch and I had to reduce the amount consumed. May have to make things a little more liquid again. It's not so much a learning curve at the moment, it's more like a vertical line :-)
