Genius! I poured half a caramel Premier into a cup of black coffee today. Was delish. Like a caramel latte, sans guilt. I'll give the PB powder a whirl in a chocolate shake tomorrow. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Next summer, I will be just about a year out and I think it would be nice to have the occasional diet soda at a baseball game. But it would be occasional -- like you, I had a hard core diet Pepsi habit. I had surgery in August, haven't had any carbonation since then (my surg team recommends against it) but I think maybe, someday, it would be nice. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

6 days post op and screwed up bad...
emardee replied to MTWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds normal to me. Getting all your Protein in is hard; adding chicken will probably make it easier tho, since it's a high protein food. What about eggs? Have you been allowed to add eggs yet? -

Not another stall question!
emardee replied to wittyusername's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 13 weeks out RNY. I also went through the following: fast weight loss (30 lbs in three weeks) then hit the brick wall and lost nothing--I mean nothing--for two weeks. I recommend the following: keep working your program to the letter of the law. Get your Protein, drink your Water, eat your Vitamins. The stall stops; you, though, can't stop. I know it's scary and frustrating, but it will pass. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
What to pack for lunch when 6 weeks out
emardee replied to Daisy Day's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Roll ups with ham or turkey and cheese are a good option. Hummus and veggies to round it out. If you have a thermos, hot Soup or chili is good. Egg salad, good. Chunks of chicken, that too ... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I'm three months post-surgery and I've been trying to avoid buying clothes because I've burned through three sizes so quickly. But my husband and I are traveling this month and I've been walking around NYC having to hitch my favorite--and only--jeans up. So I ducked into a store tonight, bought the next smallest size (12) and ... they are also too big on me. I haven't been in a 10 since high school. I haven't updated my weight because I've been away from my home scale now for three weeks. Can someone pinch me and tell me this is real. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

It's a new-fangled pressure cooker. We have an old one with the steam gauge on top that we use for canning, but the newer ones are infinitely more user friendly. -

Anthem BCBS Insurance Approval / Denial Question
emardee replied to BigTexasMandy's topic in Insurance & Financing
Tash, I saw my doctor for about eight months, worked through the tests, approvals, counseling, etc. Then surgery had to be postponed (two days before I was scheduled) because they found out I was severely anemic. I was on Iron for six more months, then they found out I had bleeding ulcers, had to take medication to heal those, yada yada. From my first appointment to date of surgery I'd say it was about 18 months. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Anthem BCBS Insurance Approval / Denial Question
emardee replied to BigTexasMandy's topic in Insurance & Financing
My opinion is that they deny it out of habit. I never read the denial letter, because the doctor's folks told me they would deal with it and they did. -
Pre-surgery, I couldn't get enough radishes. I would get the shakes if there weren't any in the frige. Post-surgery, I don't think I've had a single radish and pickles seem too sour for me right now. But I'm with you on the ice Water. I keep a few half bottles in the freezer so I can top off and have ice water all the time. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

More than the guilt and shame you're feeling, it's dangerous to be eating solids right now (no matter how well chewed they might be) when you're supposed to be sticking to liquids. You have stitches on the inside, everything is still swollen, stuff can get stuck, etc. It sounds like that's not going to happen to you, which is good, but we're all entering holiday food season -- once you get to puréed foods and then solids, it would be wise for you to stock up on the things you can eat so you're better prepared. Yogurt, Jello, lentil Soup, bean soup, etc. Give the program you're on a chance to work. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
How Was Your Thanksgiving?
emardee replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We're traveling this holiday so we ended up at a restaurant. I had a poached shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce, about a half-ounce of salmon with dill sauce, two ounces of roast chicken, a few brussels sprouts and a few bites of mashers. Desserts never really interested me, so that wasn't an issue (the place is famous for its warm butter cake, and the rest of the family split one of those) although I gazed longingly at the bread basket. I feel pretty good about how it went. I'm feeling a little hungry right now (dinner was early) so I'm gnawing on some Jerky. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Dox, I don't think any of us are here because we spent our lives making good decisions, at least when it comes to food. I think the best advice I can offer you (and I'm only three months out, so I'm no expert) is to follow your program, seek advice and counsel from your nutritionist and move your body as much as you can post-surgery. You'll be amazed at the changes to come. Good luck. Im 5'10 at 391 been making bad decisions my entire life hope to stop the cycle with this one. Anthem BCBS Insurance Approval / Denial Question
emardee replied to BigTexasMandy's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Anthem as well. They denied me the first time, my doctor's office said not to worry about it and they filed a letter of appeal, was approved that second time. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I haven't lost any hair (yet, anyway), dumping is a learning experience that, once you have happen you will never want to have it happen again and chocolate was never my thing. Being able to buy cute clothes and walk 8 or more miles in a day most definitely is worth it. ETA: It might help to write a list of pros and cons, get your head wrapped around things. But I'm only three months out and have no regrets about doing it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
