Band To Sleeve. Is It All It's Cracked Up To Be?
Ricky replied to kate33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Kate! Dr Aceves did my revision almost a year ago. I went through 2 bands and had a ton of scar tissue. Because of all my scar tissue, Dr A was very conservative on my postop diet and I was on liquids for over a month. I had absolutley zero complications and am thrilled w/my sleeve. I have no food intolerances and actually crave Protein. Your experience w/the band is like so many others' experience and I know many who have permanent damage. I am still taking daily meds for my acid reflux from what the band did to me (never had acid problems before the band). My only regret it is keeping that band in as long as I did...wish I'd have realized what it was doing to me and had it out sooner. I can't say enough good things about Dr Aceves and his staff. He was able to fix my mess of an esophagus/stomach and make it into a sleeve. I know there are many of us that have similar stories and Dr Aceves has helped us all. I was so skeptical about so many people saying such fantastic things about Dr A and I truly thought they were being paid!! I think we just understand each other and want to give back to the people that encouraged us. You can't do better that Dr Aceves and you will LOVE your sleeve!!!! Best wishes to you (and Erika)!!!! Erika P.S. I am just 37...not THAT old -
So, So Happy Since The Band Removal And Sleeve
Ricky replied to LCS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From one Erika to another....take the leap and do it!!! I lived through two bands and I don't even remember how many fills/unfills I had. My sleeve never needs to be adjusted and gives me consistent restriction daily. I still have to make good food choices, but the sleeve makes eating healthy so much easier!! -
So, So Happy Since The Band Removal And Sleeve
Ricky replied to LCS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just like everyone else...I am SO glad my band is gone and I am sleeved. The sleeve is everything I thought the band would be. My 1 year revision surgiversary is in 10 days and I couldn't be happier w/my sleeve. For the first time ever, I know that I can keep this weight off -
sounds good!! About how much Stevia did you use?? I am new to cooking w/it..thanks!

No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!
Ricky replied to WhoozisAnyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Interesting info...I am ALWAYS freezing. I dress in many layers and usually have to take a hot shower at night so I can warm up enough to fall asleep. I just thought it was because I've lost 90lbs... -
I lost 90lbs and went from a 40D to a 38D...I was measured at Nordstom's and found this shocking. The gal at Nordie's said the cup of a 40D is actually bigger than the cup of a 38D..I thought a cup size was a cup size. Guess I was wrong!

Surgery Scars For Band Revision To Sleeve?
Ricky replied to HBskinnygirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Dr. Aceves used my lapband scars to revise me His incisions were about 1/3 the size of my lapband ones too.. it didn't matter that much to me, but he did nice work -
How Long After Surgery Can You "get Busy"?
Ricky replied to FluffyBleu76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL!!!! YES....please be discharged from the hospital first!!!! BTW...I waited 6 days and felt fine -
If I eat more than a couple of bites of something sugary, I get all sweaty and nauseous for about an hour...I am thinking this is dumping?? I am also mildly lactose intolerant...if I drink my sugarfree latte a little too fast, I will have diarrhea... so, eating real icecream would make me feel awful!
-
I really like the Breyer's Carb Smart vanilla icecream...so good!!
-
I too just passed the 8 month mark and am SO tired...I can eat a little more than I used to, but it's not a big difference..I am interested in other's responses!! As for the tired thing...it's especially bad after I eat..I really want to sleep after eating.

Is The Pain Real, Real, Bad If Lapband Is Removed And Gastric Sleeve Done At The Same Time?
Ricky replied to Jesusislove's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Both band surgeries (I went through 2 bands) hurt way more than my sleeve surgery....honestly, for me, they didn't even compare. I used my liquid pain meds from my band surgeries for at least a week....I was off all pain meds within 72 hours from my sleeve. It felt SO good just to get that thing out of my body. Best of luck to you...you will LOVE your sleeve -
sounds good...thanks

Escape Pod- i would love that chicken recipe..sounds simple and good...which brand of turkey meatballs do you like? thanks.. -
I made this last night and thought it was great...my husband and 11 year old couldn't stop eating it either!! I know it's after Thanksgiving, but I love pumpkin all year long!!' 1 15oz can pumpkin 3 eggs 3/4 c. splenda (or 18 pkts) 1/2 tsp. salt 1 3/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 3/4 cup of milk (I used half and half) Blend together and pour into piepan that has been sprayed w/Pam. Bake at 350 degrees for 45min...let cool and serve. I topped it w/sugarfree Coolwhip and it was yummy!! Also, I am going to make another today and maybe use a couple less packets of Splenda, as it does have some of the Splenda aftertaste.
